Eagles Message Board Quick Takes
LSHMEAB replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. It looks like it's heading more towards a pick em, but I agree. -
That's where I'm at. It doesn't look like the offense is going to be dynamic. Those are just the facts. But adding that pass rusher to an already strong defense puts them over the edge into elite category. You'd have to say it's been the defense that's won the majority of the games. It would also be much more difficult to acclimate an offensive player mid season. Edge rushers generally do one thing. Go get the QB. I'm all about a move for Von Miller.

Eagles Message Board Quick Takes

Yeah, my friend. It's tough to say early in the week, but those Jimmy's and Joe's(I call em Darrell, short for derelict) are definitely taking Buffalo, but the line is sort of moving towards Philly which means there's real money on the Iggle's. The Darrell's generally wait until Saturday or Sunday to bet, so it's a bit early to say definitely what they'll do. The "chatter" is that the Bills should definitely beat Philly(the Eagles SUCK based on the Dallas game. Bills are 5-1(They really don't even know enough to understand our schedule has been easy.) I'm boring myself here, but after doing this for 10 years, I've come to the conclusion that I want to see these people bet on the other team. Certainly not any kind of guarantee, but more often than not and all that jazz. -

The line is most certainly set on data. The big money movers rely EXCLUSIVELY on data. So they basically set a line that they believe to be accurate. If you have an accurate line, you theoretically create a line that would generate even action on both sides. The objective is of course to set lines that get that equal action because they just want the juice. There are certain games (like this one) where the general public will be all over one side(in this case the Bills), but the book/big money likes the opponent. As a rule, I hate to see the Bills in a position where the book/movers are on one side and the "public" is on the other. The line will move if they're taking more money on one side than the other. At that point, they want to entice action on the OTHER side. I know that was convoluted, but from personal experience, I prefer to be on the side that seems "wrong" to people like you and I. That, OF COURSE, is not some kind of absolute. Last week for instance, the big money LOVED Atlanta and the public loved the Rams. Not quite sure why the data suggested only a -3 for LA against such a struggling team like the Falcons, but it did. If any of this was absolute, I'd be betting 5 k all over the place and not sitting there writing tickets! -

I'm hoping to see Jason Peters either on the sideline or playing at less than 90 percent. I'm not one of those fans that cares if we beat a team at less than 100 percent. Just win the games. If Wentz gets time, he's still a dangerous QB. Watch his game against the Packers to see what he can do if the line isn't playing like garbage. If the pass rush DOESN'T come through, the offense is going to need to score more points at a more rapid pace than we have in our W's this season. They have a ton of injuries on defense, so it's going to be interesting to see if Allen and the offense can turn it up a notch if the defense can't get stops/TO's. -

Yeah. I TRY not to belabor the betting aspects of games, but everyone and their mother, including Eagles fans, expect the Bills to win. Yet the line is ticking DOWN. The Bills are favored by 1.5 points and down 1 in some spots. Why? It's certainly not ticking down because the average Joe likes the Eagles. We shall see. It's going to be a huge test for both the pass rush and Josh Allen IMO. I believe this is going to be a VERY challenging game. Hope you's guys are all correct and whatever data the books are looking at is incorrect. -

I'd rather see an Eagles message board full of unbridled enthusiasm. I hate this game more and more with each passing day. -
I would like these unis A LOT more if it didn't have the charging Buffalo on the pants. That just doesn't fit there.

Levi Wallace against bigger, stronger receivers
LSHMEAB replied to WideNine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw it the same way. Wallace was playing deep (too deep) consistently and Fitz was pitching the short out with tremendous accuracy and touch. It didn't appear to be size/strength issue from my viewpoint. -
Should the Bills go No-Huddle in the 1st half?
LSHMEAB replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been advocating this for a while. Allen is at his best when he's just playing football; not overthinking things. That's a contributing factor to his 4th quarter success thus far. The longer I watch that play clock tick, the more pessimistic I become about the outcome. Just go b's to the w's and I think the results will improve. -
The big money is going on Philly, but the average Joe's are betting the Bills. I HATE that.
-
Same my man. I think it's a generational thing. I love our current unis, but red just pops and doesn't look at all "off brand" pertaining to the Bills. It's a cool change of pace. I'm also a fan of the all blue's. They just look "mean." To each their own when it comes to uniforms. It's not that serious.

I REALLY don't understand the fascination with comparing Allen to the other 4 2018 first round QB's. What difference does that really make? Maybe they all bomb. Maybe they all eventually succeed We don't win a prize if Jackson, Rosen, Darnold and Mayfield fail. It means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. I look around the league at the great QB's; Rodgers, Wilson, Brees, Brady, and Mahomes. They've proven what they're about. I'd like to see Allen reach that level. I have my doubts, but that's the company I want to see the Bills starting QB join.

Meanwhile....Tribisky (sp) is floundering
LSHMEAB replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My thoughts are that I'm surprised you created this thread. It's a good one, but it is a bit concerning considering the accuracy of your comparison. Allen is quite a bit like Trubisky The key positive difference is that Allen can run. Trubisky is "mobile" enough, but he doesn't have the intangibles or escapablity JA possesses. So there's less of a chance of Allen COMPLETELY bombing because if he's way off, he can find a way by tucking and running. BUT. That is not a sustainable formula for success. Allen has to improve his read/react/recognition/touch if he's going to truly succeed. We'll see. Not a fan of MITCH. At all. It would be a shame if he outlasts Nagy because Nagy is a terrific coach saddled with a trash QB. -
Is this the easiest schedule the Bills ever had?
LSHMEAB replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you see the Philly Packers game when Wentz was given time to throw? This is by no means an easy game. -
I know how you feel about the Iggle's Joe! I'm not concerned with Jeffrey and whoever else they trot out there at receiver. I'm concerned about their TE's.
-
I'm gonna be that negative guy here and say that I HATE this matchup. If you give Wentz time, he's still a very good QB. Pass rush hasn't been great. We also play the cover 2 which leaves middle deep open on occasion and Ertz and Goedert can be lethal. If the Eagles are able to score as I suspect(hope not) they will, it puts the onus on the offense and Allen to put up more points than they generally need for a W. While I'm pessimistic here, it's also a tremendous opportunity for some question marks to be answered. If the D line applies sufficient pressure on Wentz and Allen ups his game, the Bills have a solid chance to get the win. This game is going to tell ME quite a bit about where we're at. Sky's the limit if the pass rush and Allen come through.
-
If I had to pick one, I'm going with the DL shooting up. Gotta get to the Wentz. If they need a little juice, let em drink!
-
When is Allen going to have "that game", and do you care?
LSHMEAB replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand this question my man. Who is talking about drafting a QB next year? Who is talking about cutting bait NOW? There's an honest debate to be had about his progression as a QB and what that portends for the future. As skeptical as some of us may be, I think everyone understands he deserves quite a bit more time before any of those types of decisions are entertained. He's done more than enough to prove he's got a chance to be the real deal and he's done some things that make you question whether or not he'll ever be able to be THE MAN. That's where we're at right now. -
I don't like the Philly result one bit. You would think the Bills line should shoot up based on the Eagles performance. If that doesn't happen, I'll be concerned. I tend to put a decent amount of stock in these things; been watching it too many years to ignore. Hope so.

SNF: Eagles at Cowboys (-3) 8:20 NBC
LSHMEAB replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This game is going to be interesting in this respect; if you get to Wentz, he's BAD. If you can't generate pressure, he's good. He just doesn't get rid of the ball in a timely manner under duress. So it will be interesting to see if we can generate enough pressure to get bad Wentz. That will be the key to next week's game IMO. If the DL doesn't get pressure, this could be a very tough game despite the Eagles horrific showing tonight. I just don't think we can rely on the offense to score many points right now. Hughes, Oliver, Phillips, Murphy(he's been on the field, not sure what he's doing), and Shaq need to be ready to attack. -
Josh Allen - week SEVEN report card
LSHMEAB replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, it was most certainly not an outstanding defensive performance. Milano's absence appears to be a big deal. Maybe I wasn't clear. And a dub is indeed a dub. -
Josh Allen - week SEVEN report card
LSHMEAB replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense was not good and the Dolphins offense is bad. But their defense is quite possibly worse and was really thin in the secondary. Allen failed multiple times to find the open target despite outstanding protection. Those are just the facts. All the credit in the world for rebounding in the second half, but that first half was BAD. I don't know that it's reasonable to assume an OUTSTANDING defensive performance every single game. I think this team really has the makings of something special; Allen is going to have to get better at some point soon if that's going to come to fruition. I'm thinking big here. -
Josh Allen - week SEVEN report card
LSHMEAB replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a VERY good thing that the Bills have such a strong defense because they'd be digging holes they couldn't escape if they didn't. What happens if Tre doesn't get that INT? I don't know. You simply can't perform like that in the first half week in and week out and expect to beat good teams. We act like the defense was awful when they gave up 14 first half points. Eh. Awful by their standards I suppose. Kudos to Allen for consistently rebounding in the second half, but he has got to stop squandering opportunities in the first half if this team is going to be a legit contender. -
Yeah. Glad it worked out, but I'd be REAL careful with those "gems." Lot of those diamonds are CZ.
