  1. I agree, but what's the deal with Singletary? I know he's been productive when given the opportunity, but a lot of those stats came on plays where he had a ton of room to run. He was a third round pick and you generally want to see relatively big production when you make that kind of investment. PLENTY of other rookie RB's are out there doing work. I don't really see the elusiveness or the kind of electric playmaking ability I'd like to see from a player who's role is to make splash plays. Maybe it's on Daboll. Maybe not. Either way, the offense desperately needs a player LIKE Singletary. Whether or not that player IS Singletary is a question mark.
  2. Good post. The responses indicate that some people spend waaaaaaay too much time worried about what other poster's think/feel. It was an awful performance. It happened. It's not good. It raises some red flags about the team in general. And it's perfectly reasonable to surmise as much. But that's like, my opinion, dude.
  3. I don't like Daboll either, but it's also an indictment on McDermott's ability to hire the right OC. I actually like McD, but not many HC's get to burn through OC's without a period of sustained success to provide the organization sufficient confidence in the HC himself. We'll see.
  4. The solution to this problem would be for the Bills to be constructed to be the better team on a consistent basis against legit competition. Go beat the teams they should beat and win a couple against good teams and those posters will be silent. There is alot of season left and there are many different directions it could turn. Some are good; some not good. Things are definitely starting to come into focus and it's not all rainbows and butterflies. I'm patient. I'm OK with the season thus far. But all the key players from the GM to the HC to the QB need to do a lot more to earn long term trust.
  5. Yeah. While the Bills defensive line didn't play well, most of the Eagles big hits on the ground were also the result of creative play calling that had the defense going in the wrong direction. Pederson is a terrific offensive mind. I'm growing tired of saying person X "needs to do better" offensively. Not advocating for firing anyone so the outrage crowd can calm down; I do think it's safe to say Daboll is no Doug Pederson.
  6. We were thoroughly out-schemed today defensively and that's a problem. I expected the pass rush to be the culprit, but that wasn't really the case. They were "fine." I still have many doubts about Frazier. The defense went through a similar skid in 2017. This game reminded me quite a bit of the Saints game in 2017 when we just got steamrolled. They ended up rebounding, so my hope is that will be the case once again. Still, I'm not sure who's actually calling the shots on D, but if it's Frazier, McDermott needs to jump in and take some control back. The offense and specifically JA hasn't demonstrated the ability to match points with points. Unless the D is playing extremely well, the Bills are vulnerable against ANY opponent. Allen has to become more efficient and productive. Alot of blame to go around, but he's not immune. Offense also needs a "playmaker." There's still hope that Singletary can be that guy. I had my doubts coming in and those doubts remain. Is that the drive that directly followed the special teams fumble recovery? Honestly can't recall. At that point in the game, the offense NEEDED to flip that TO into a TD.
  7. Teams are no longer doubling Star. Not quite sure what took them so long. We're gonna have to switch some things up. I thought McDermott was thoroughly outcoached TODAY by Pederson. The Eagles offense was consistently a step ahead of the Eagles. Just a terrible day all around. Win the next one.
  8. Little bit puzzling. You would think they'd want to have McKenzie available in a game where the underneath routes/gadget plays are likely to be emphasized.
  9. I don't think the OP's point was perfectly constructed or explained, but I believe there is some merit. This is going to be a challenge for our defense; complex looks, a QB who thrives when given time, greatest pass assets deep middle where the cover 2 can be be exposed. I'm personally happy about the wind! I think that favors Buffalo to an extent. The point the OP was trying to make( I believe) is this may be the game where the offense can't get by scoring 17 points. If the defense falters, they're gonna need to play better than they have thus far in 2019. As bad/banged up as that Eagles defense has been, they're still well coached and do have some talent. This ain't Miami. Challenge/opportunity. Nevertheless, I hope this game is 38-0 Bills at the half; I'm just not particularly enthused about the matchup. Pessimism is the way to go; you're never disappointed!
  10. I'd be pretty upset about this had he perfectly placed the ball in the booth. Room for improvement.
  11. TBH, alot of this is random, but most defensive touchdowns are a result of pressure. If you're forcing QB's into quick decisions, you're much more likely to have a chance to house it than a pure coverage pick. We seem to get the coverage picks and not necessarily the QB is shook picks that are more likely to lead to TD's.
  12. Kind of a random thought, but I think he challenged that Darnold completion in the second half Monday for precisely this reason. I think he wanted to "tarnish" the most trivial of positive plays the Jets had. The guy is an animal. I'd love to see the Bills adopt the step on their throat attitude, but McDermott just isn't the kind of guy to pull those kind of stunts. Those kind of humiliation tactics are not necessary for success. Maybe it's part of what makes BB the best ever, but it's not required. At any rate, it was a good point.
  13. Wentz is easily the 2nd best QB we've faced and based on the fact that McDermott appears to know how to stop Brady, probably the best. I'm personally pleased with the expected wind. I'm not at all sure how JA would fare in a "shootout." Greatly prefer to see him in a tight, low to mid scoring game where a TD is not critical on every possession.
  14. I was gonna say; I've been to Venice many, many times and it's pretty much impossible to walk down the street WITHOUT seeing an NFL themed bar.
  15. Really! No disrespect to the OP, but come on man! You are spending way too much time micro-analyzing things. I understand. I used to think this way when I was in my 20's. It'll pass. Just win the games and the respect will come. There is zero evidence that the Bills WOULDN'T get cred if they actually put something together; because we HAVEN'T put anything substantial together this century. Win...the....games!
  16. AB-SO-LUTELY. The perception that the Iggle's offense is bad is a classic example of recency bias. This is by no means a bad offense and Wentz is still VERY capable of putting up points if he gets time. Their defense is really decimated with injuries. This is neither the biggest game of the year for the Bills or for Josh Allen. That's just emotion talking. But I do believe it will be Allen's biggest test to date in 2019.
  17. Any draft pick or FA able to occupy space and a make more than a handful of tackles per season. Haven't spent a whole lot of time looking into names because Star is here for the 2019 season.
  18. I can't argue this. My only gripe OVERALL is that we don't have a premier pass rusher. Beane was most certainly in the market for one, but it didn't pan out. I see a move in the very near future. Star is just Star. I think he's easily upgradable, but not really a "problem." I do think there's merit in discussing a player's worth. It's not like any of us are making decisions on how to proceed.
  19. Acknowledge that the defense has played extremely well and discuss ways it could be EVEN better?
  20. Who? I hear all the chatter about eating space and his teammates love him; that's all good and well. The bottom line is that even guy's who play a similar role make a FEW plays. I was pretty shocked to see him record a clean, solo tackle against the Titans. Probably shouldn't NOTICE a guy making a solo tackle. At any rate, he's here and I suppose he does what he's asked to do. This is most certainly a position they can and hopefully will upgrade going forward.
  21. Yeah. I'm fine with that. Much more interested in Peters status.
  22. There is some inherent bias among the writers, but the fact that his numbers have trended up throws some cold water on the idea that the metrics themselves are biased/worthless. If there was some grand anti-JA conspiracy, the grades would reflect that. I look at the numbers; not the writer's extrapolations. This.
  23. As the the OP; Iggles fans are by and large the most obnoxious in the country. I lived in Delaware for a number of years growing up and listened to WIP just to annoy myself I suppose. There was a guy named Howard Eskin who would basically just make fun of the caller's. Now THAT was my kind of guy. This other stuff is tedious, but I saw some encouraging signs today. Lots of our "less capable" bettors taking the Eagles than I anticipated and the line ticking up a bit. Starting to shape up as not the bettor's "trap" game I feared. FWIW! Much more nuanced. It really depends on WHO'S moving the line. Line hasn't moved much. Ticked down initially but now ticking up slightly.
