  1. I suppose they were playing the 2nd half based on their belief that Washington couldn't score, but that "secure the lead" approach is a LOSING mentality long term. This would have been a great opportunity to let Allen start airing it out in the 2nd half. Horrifically predictable playcalling. Time to take the kid gloves off. He played well overall and should have been given more opportunities.
  2. The statement was not that the post was overly negative; the statement was that many of the takes would be perceived as negative by folks who want to believe everything is great. The team still has some issues and discussing them honestly is not generally well received; that's fine. Everyone has their perspective and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm going to need a whole lot more to believe this is a high quality team. They're winning the games they're supposed to win and that's important. W/L's are always the most important aspect of any particular game, metrics be danged. BUT, there should be room for honest, intellectual discussion. I will say this; Singletary was pretty impressive. I still have some questions, but his performance was the most positive development from my perspective. This offense desperately needs him to consistently perform. He's not gonna put up the kind of numbers he put up weekly, but they need those pop plays.
  3. There's actually truth here. The prevailing wisdom was that Murphy would produce if he could just stay on the field. So far, no good. He's healthy and NOT producing. At least there was that glimmer or HOPE coming into the season.
  4. Absolutely I am. We're a week removed from one of McD's worst coaching performances, but I don't think there's any question his teams have found ways to maximize win totals dating back to 2017. Credit where credit is due.
  5. Excellent post, but BABIP would have been a better baseball reference. I don't find this surprising. We really haven't beaten a good team and have looked suspect in some of the wins. Stats can't take away the 5 wins the Bills have accumulated, but if we're being honest, I think everyone knows this is not a VERY good team. Not sure why that's controversial. As a fan, I just want to see them win the games they need to win.
  6. Shouldn't really matter, should it? Defense needs to step up pressure regardless, but even more so with a rook.
  7. I don't give logos that much "thought." I'm just talking about the way they look, which is obviously subjective. If I'm picking, say, a hat, where the logo is isolated, I'm picking the standing Buffalo. That's just me.
  8. Yeah. If he was directly referencing TRADE DEADLINE moves, he's admitting that he and Beane made a mistake. I'm FAIRLY certain he's aware of the fact that the Bills haven't made big in season trades prior to KB. It's tough to tell. I don't really have a problem with the statement, but I don't quite get it.
  9. Totally agree. The standing Buffalo is "classic." The charging Buffalo is "outdated." JMO.
  10. I think it's quite possible he chose to call out KB and to a lesser extent, Clay, because he perceived a lack of effort/commitment. I don't think anyone's questioned Star's effort. Just his ability. This is one snippet from one week. McD RARELY calls players out in that manner. Not never. Still rarely.
  11. That's a small sample size. If you see the explosion that would lead to long term success, we're seeing something different. It would be great if your eyeballs are correct and mine are deceiving. Also, OF COURSE he's the guy on THIS roster most capable of making something happen after the catch. The question is whether or not this roster has the right components in the backfield.
  12. I think Brandon Beane disagrees with your assessment of Brandon Beane based on the fact that he was most certainly at least interested in Clark/Clowney. Price wasn't right for him apparently, but he knows the deal. And the time to win is always now. This is year 3, not year 1. They're gonna get 4 years and I'm good with that, but things change quickly if the results aren't there. The results ARE there this season as far as I'm concerned. 5-2 is right where they should be at this point. Can't judge anything that hasn't occurred, but we'll see how things go.
  13. Yeah. For whatever reason, I chose to air all my grievances(Festivus miracle) with Singletary in a response to you, but it was more of a general comment. I'm just not a big believer. At all if I'm being honest. We'll see my man.
  14. But what has Singletary really done to demonstrate that he's a "playmaker?" He's been productive with his touches, but I just don't see any explosion or burst. The vast majority of his yards have come via wide open space. I understand that he wasn't drafted to be a workhorse, but I also don't know that he's really got enough going on to even be considered a valuable change of pace back. Didn't like the pick at the time. Don't like it now. Maybe Daboll is just an idiot(quite possible) or maybe he doesn't believe Devin is going to do much when he has to make a play in traffic. Worst thing is that we desperately need a playmaker in the backfield. I agree that they made a mistake going into the season with this stable of running backs. At any rate, they do need to get DS the ball more often because he's at least theoretically capable of popping off 20 plus yard gains. There just aren't any dynamic offensive "weapons" and I think he was/is supposed to be that guy. But yeah, this is a silly question. The Bills will almost certainly finish the season above 500 and that's not going to precipitate a change at the HC position nor should it. Gotta stick with him at least one more year for better or worse.
  15. This boils down to the quarterback position. Other than Brady(which is great), they really haven't demonstrated the ability to stop team's with quality QB's and they haven't had great QB play. I think it's really that simple.
  16. Okay. But where are the sacks NOW? The turnovers? Fine. A premier pass rusher is not a requirement. The problem here is that the sum of the pass rushing components are not good enough. The solution is clearly not to stand pat because it's not really not working in that department. If you want to add multiple guys as opposed to one premier player, cool. I don't think you can make a case that they're good enough as is.
  17. Very good players. VERY interesting list.
  18. Yeah. I think people want to believe he's been under the radar good because it would be some kind of indictment if Beane's big first signing was a bad one. It was a poor choice. It's not the end of the world. The worst thing a GM can do is double down on a bad decision, so I'd like to see them recognize the mistake and take actions to replace him. He's gonna be here this year, but I LIKE to think he'll be gone in 2020. We can eat that cap space.
  19. Na. They won't. McD ain't gonna lose to a unprepared rookie QB. This is pure recency bias. The Bills were not as good as they appeared before the Eagles game and they're not as bad as they appeared after said game.
  20. True. There's no shame in losing to the Eagles, but the WAY in which we lost was demoralizing. Meh. Game is gone. Gotta beat the Skins and then we have another game AT Cleveland that is not going to be the cakewalk we'd like it to. We've got some issues and they're unpredictable. That's gonna be a biggie.
  21. The Eagles are an extremely well coached team that faced the same kind of sluggish start LAST SEASON. Doug Pederson may very well be the best coach in football. Fan's took this team far too lightly.
  22. Time to shop. I give Beane credit for recognizing this prior to the season, but nothing materialized. I fully expect to see a big time proven commodity DE as the top FREE AGENT priority. For Buffalo, gotta go draft to get the skill position players.
  23. Edmunds outside and trade for some "run of the mill" run stuffing MLB. Edmunds could pretty easily make the transition IMO. Could be a monster rushing the passer AND still provide solid coverage. With Milano and Edmunds in coverage, alot of the deficiencies said "run of the mill" MLB would likely have in that area. Pretty sure McD won't go that route, but that's the best short term solution I can come up with. Average to above average run stuffing MLB's are easy as (blank) to find. They're everywhere. You got a top 10 list of players you wish were on the Bills?
  24. These points are all entirely valid. The run defense has some pieces that simply haven't worked over the past two weeks and could be a problem going forward. But what we're not talking about is what DIDN'T happen and continues to NOT happen. We're not seeing the kind of game changing plays or drive killing sacks that put the opposing offense in negative down and distance situations. The defense is most certainly lacking that elite edge rusher that must be accounted for and the sum of the parts just isn't enough. I've seen plenty of 3rd and long stops this season, but I haven't seen nearly enough of them end with the a Bill in the quarterbacks mug forcing a huge mistake. A premier edge rusher covers up a lot of deficiencies in other areas. I really can't figure out if this is shtick or if you're being serious in regards to the players you'd like to see the Bills target.
  25. I think Allen does enough things well that he's going to stick for a while. If he doesn't take a leap, then he's in the dreaded Tannehill/Marriota territory. No real Bills fans wants to see that. Expressing concerns DOES NOT=hoping those concerns continue or worsen. And I think we all know what's at stake with the Allen pick.
