  1. I don't consider such things because I'll be rooting for Allen, but COME ON MAN! At this moment in time, Deshaun Watson is better than Josh Allen. Sorry! Having said that, the only thing matters right now is THIS GAME. Track record, pedigree, all that stuff is out the window. Playoff football is all about pressure busting pipes.
  2. Yep. Outside of Tre, this team doesn't really have any PREMIERE players. As far as I'm concerned, that's more of a compliment to McDermott than a slight to the team. They're gonna need young guys like Edmunds and Allen to emerge to REALLY "get there," but their focus appears to be acquiring guys who fit the system and "culture," Say whatever you want about McDermott, but this guy has done an unbelievable job at maximizing win totals with average rosters.
  3. I'm really hoping Shaq can play. That's the injury that concerns me. We're gonna need to create pressure on Watson in order to win this game.
  4. Yeah. It's certainly ironic that MM's older brother Ryan Tannehill has been the "answer" for the Titans this season. I believe Vrabel will be looking for "his" QB this offseason, but time will tell. I think both Nagy and Vrabel are solid coach's saddled with similar QB situations. Young QB just wasn't improving quickly enough. USUALLY, the HC gets the axe well before the prized QB, so these situations are sort of surprising.
  5. Nagy ain't going down with Trubisky same way Vrabel wasn't going down with Mariotta.
  6. Quite possible. The guy is 36 and he's had a number of injuries. He's distinct from a Brees or a Brady, who rely far less on arm strength/athleticism, which is probably why they've lasted as long as they have. Brees has had the injuries, but again, much more reliant on the cerebral aspect of the game. Brady is just a freak who's gotten hurt once over 10 years ago and certainly doesn't rely on natural talent the same way an Aaron Rodgers does. And I would say (sort of agree) that while he may very well be declining, he's at the early stages and still a premiere QB.
  7. May be in the minority, but I certainly don't view this as "offensive." Seems like good natured ribbing between an LSU guy and a Clemson guy. It's going to be an outstanding matchup to watch, although I'm not gonna be in normal "spectator" mode for a playoff game. Probably enjoy replays of the matchup quite a bit more if the Bills win. As NewEra pointed out, the key (as it usually is against good QB's) is to get in Watson's face as often as possible. Tre is one of the best corners in football, but you can only ask him to cover this particular guy for so long.
  8. I consider the supporting cast to be mediocre, but that's splitting hairs. Definitely a better run game than they've had. If you want to step away from statistics, (which are still quite strong), what I see when I watch Rodgers is a guy taking fewer chances than past seasons because he "trusts" his defense. Impossible to say what's going on in someone's head, but that's how it appears. I've seen him give up on plays, throw the ball away, etc. with greater frequency. That much is true. But I don't think he's in some steep decline. I think he knows he doesn't have to play hero ball week in and week out.
  9. Rodgers threw for 4000 yards with a YPA of 7.6. Threw 26 TD's to FOUR picks. All this with a subpar supporting cast. I'm genuinely perplexed by your take, but I'm hopeful the Bills have this type of "problem" within the next few seasons.
  10. Would have loved to seen something come to fruition given Beane's pursuit of big time pass rusher's LAST offseason because I anticipated the Bills having a real chance to make some noise. But what's done is done and I believe they'll get that done THIS offseason. The best way to stop any QB with that many weapons is to get in their face early and often. Let's hope Hughes, Murphy, Lawson, Phillips, and EO play their A game. Let's face facts; we're gonna need to the defense as a whole to perform extremely well in the playoffs if we're going to advance. Offense just isn't there yet. It's encouraging that McD's scheme gave Watson fits the first go round.
  11. This. The Bills created a ton of room by ridding themselves of players they didn't view as good fits, but I'm quite sure the plan is not to win the cap space war every offseason.
  12. Meh. The cap will only be an issue if Josh Allen emerges as THE MAN, so that'd be a great problem to have...a few years down the road. Yannnick is the disruptive force missing from this defense. You sign Yannick and you can get rid of both Murphy and Shaq. You've got Johnson who seems to be improving, and you can sign a few guys off the scrap heap if your starters are Yannick/Hughes. Keeping your own does not mean you sit pat in free agency and never pursue a big time player. Beane was interested in AB/Frank Clark/Clowney. Didn't come to fruition, but building through the draft does not preclude you from making an occasional big move.
  13. That's where I'm at. Pettine had ZERO business getting a HC gig, but it happened. I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would view him as a HC candidate, but who knows? It's the Browns I guess. I'm pretty meh on the whole thing. Was more disappointed to lose Pettine than I'd be to lose Daboll. We could do better. We could do worse. But I absolutely do not view him as some great asset.
  14. I was in the same boat my man. Harvard and Yale had a very public feud for my services, but the fam couldn't afford it and neither would pony up enough loot to make it worth my while. I settled on Oxford because they swooped in with the FREE RIDE and then some, if you know what I mean.
  15. The Saints went 7-9 4 OUT OF 5 seasons from 2012 to 2016. Yeah, BountyGate and all that, but we're talking a 5 year stretch. Pretty sure the Saints are glad they stuck with Payton. Sean Payton is a better coach than Mike Tomlin, but the circumstances are somewhat similar. I don't even know why he's being discussed. Glad the Bills have McDermott. We'll find out in the coming years if he's a wild card coach or a championship coach, but it's cool that the Bills aren't even in this discussion.
  16. It was obviously a bad move. Beane gets paid the big bucks to make good decisions, so the fact that it "seemed" like a good trade at the time is irrelevant. He's made plenty of good decisions and the overall trajectory is better than it's been in a long time, but you gotta call a spade a spade.
  17. That's the way I see it as well. This is the same OC that was screaming at said young QB on the sideline. That's pretty atypical. I think there's an ever so slight rift. The offense has not performed well this season, so I would actually hope none of them feel good or even "content" with the overall production. There's an easy way to solve that both against Houston(and hopefully another 3 opponents.) SCORE MORE POINTS!
  18. "Momentum" is the most overused term in sports. There's really no such thing. The way the season ended will have ZERO bearing on what goes down in Houston. None whatsoever. The team needs to play better than they have if they're going to advance in the playoffs. I'm slightly encouraged by the fact that our scheme gave Watson fits the last time we played the Texans. Bills D vs. Texans O is a good matchup because they're very good at defending the deep middle crossing routes etc and that's Houston's go to on O. Then you have White able to hold down Hopkins down the sideline as well as anyone. So I feel pretty good there. If the offense can step up and score 20 plus, I think the Bills win this game.
  19. I mean, I love his story; I'm all about redemption and all that jazz. The guy plays HARD when he's out there and he's understandably a fan favorite. BUT. The myth doesn't match reality. He's a big plodding receiver and I don't think he's anything more than depth at the end of the day. There's a reason teams weren't interested and it wasn't the character issues. If he was viewed as some top talent, his indiscretions in college would be overlooked in a hot second. Nevertheless, he balled out today and that energy is certainly fun to watch.
  20. You're missing a key piece of the puzzle. Daboll coveted Daniel Jones coming out of HS and he chose to play for David Cutcliffe; at DUKE! He'd probably be willing to overlook the Auburn connection if it weren't for the recruiting shenanigans they pulled over in Raleigh.
  21. I'm gonna watch SportsCenter tonight for the first time in a long time. Surely that near catch has to be in the top 10 plays of the day. Probably number 1 going away.
  22. Duke Williams is a receiver the likes of which the NFL has never seen. He's poised to smash every one of Jerry Rice's records with EASE. Stephon Gilmore is a turnstile out there at corner and he's been exposed as a fraudster and a huckster. Noted.
  23. It was almost surreal to see a Bills back catching the ball naturally out of the backfield and immediately turning upfield. The only thing Gore offers right now is a guy who won't fumble late in a game we're trying to salt away. Is that really worth a roster spot in the playoffs when we're almost certainly going to need to score far more points than we have to win? I say no. I'll gladly get into that type of position and take my chances on DS securing the ball.
  24. Duke had a good game. Kudos. He was essentially "showcased" and played well. I'm quite sure the love will get out of control, but credit where it's due.
