  1. What if Barkley is one of those odd late bloomers like Rich Gannon or Kurt Warner and Josh Allen is a bust? I really get the sense that some people have become Allen fans more than Bills fans.
  2. Yeah, Carr looks completely shell shocked just like his brother. Everyone blames a woeful offensive line for David Carr's downfall, but maybe it's genetic. And for the record, I was sold on Carr as a franchise QB in 2016. I was wrong.
  3. To quote Seinfeld, that's what makes it so vexing. There's a huge difference between 3 and 6,7,or 8. It's something they need to be better at. From a personnel standpoint, they could really use an additional dynamic edge rusher to fill Lorax's role. Love the guy, but he's very close to the finish line.
  4. The greats don't allow that nonsense to affect them. The mental fortitude to either use negative attention as fuel or dismiss it entirely is what separates them from the pack. Those that would be "devastated" probably didn't have the mental make-up to be great to begin with. Life is not fair. That's a lesson everyone should learn at a young age. Like politics, professional sports is not for the faint of heart.
  5. 100% agree on the swagger factor. It's a personal preference more than anything, but most of the greats have a certain swagger. Don't tell me Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady don't have swagger because they do. It's just more subtle. Even Brees has a certain understated swagger. P Manning was an anomaly. He was also kind of a choker. This is all completely subjective so it is what it is. Mayfield was the only guy in this draft that had the charisma I look for in a leader. As far as Phillips, he's got 16 tackles, 4 TFL's, and zero sacks. That's not impressive considering his snap count and role. He's not terrible, but he doesn't deserve the praise he gets around here.
  6. John O'Hurley of course. Why would you ask a question you already know the answer to? Jeez.
  7. That's where I'm at. They've had some solid drafts and McDermott won close games last season. Some would call it luck, but I don't buy it. His teams made plays when they mattered in contested games. When is the last time the Bills won close games? Even this season, the most contested game was Tennessee and they found a way to win. Peterman did his thing against Houston, so chalk that one up to their inability to judge QB's, which is a very big deal. They would have to improve significantly in terms of running the ball and acquiring offensive personnel, but the returns on that are awful thus far. Keep in mind I'm convinced Allen is a bust so that tends to influence my opinions. It's an interesting proposition because I see it as an inevitable decision Pegula will have to make.
  8. I think you'd have to factor in the other draft picks when deciding whether or not you give them another shot at a QB if Allen sucks. Edmunds would need to develop into a star MLB and Jones would have to be a quality number 2. If those things happen and they hit on a first round receiver in 19, you'd have to consider giving them a mulligan. Harry is overrated IMO. I haven't seen him do much. I think so many people viewed him as a "Kyle clone" that their confirmation bias influences their assessment. I'm not impressed. Picking up Jordan Phillips looks like a great decision.
  9. What's your point? Mahomes is better than Allen. Why can't we all just accept that and hope Allen becomes a solid QB? We should consult with Jalen Ramsey next time we draft a QB. Teller was out there mauling people. I can't think of an offensive lineman having that kind of performance and ending up a dud. I think he's legit, although it's obviously not set in stone or backed up by enough data.
  10. Nate's next gig is likely to be defensive coordinator. If anyone knows how to create turnovers, it's the Peter Man.
  11. They've shut down most of the online "escort" ads nationwide and Boston has pretty strict laws. I think he may be OK. But you never know.
  12. Right. Nobody is saying the defense isn't good. The Pollyanna crowd seems incapable of seeing any flaws in the defense because the narrative is that the defense is perfect. Far from it. In order to address a problem, one has to acknowledge said problem. I learned that in AA. I decided not to address the problem, but that's not relevant here.
  13. I'd absolutely dump Murphy and agree with every other point here. J Phillips was a find.
  14. The offense has absolutely nothing to do with red zone efficiency. When opponents get the ball inside the 20, they score touchdowns 80% of the time, which is amongst the worst in the league. There's no way to spin it. That's a problem that needs to be addressed.
  15. We need some swag on offense so "Hollywood" Brown is definitely the way to go.
  16. I was mistakenly under the impression the option was for 2019. I wouldn't hate a modest extension, but it's not a huge priority and that would kind of mean Lawson was betting against himself. Not sure where either the Bills or Lawson are on that. Probably best to let it play itself out at this point. If he suddenly becomes a dynamic player, he's still under team control for 2 more years. If not, they part ways or deal with it then.
  17. The Bills would definitely be overpaying at 10/11 mil for a DE not particularly good at rushing the passer, but he's 24 years old and seems to be gaining confidence. Maybe the pass rush will come with time. I still don't trust him enough to give out a long term deal even if it would save us $. That's why I'd lean towards picking up that extension with no future liability if it doesn't go well in 2020.
  18. Before the Jets game, this team was on pace to be one of the worst offenses in the history of the National Football League. Before this season, Daboll was a failed OC in not one, not two, but three stints. Let's maybe not overreact to one game against a bad team.
  19. If it's between Shaq and Murphy, you pick up the option and dump Murphy. It's a bit high, but it's worth it as a one year investment to see if he'll continue to develop. Unless we're drafting DE in round 1, which I doubt, you keep him.
  20. It's interesting that everyone jumped down C. Biscuit's throat when the thread title insinuates that the "Panthers are really missing him." Stating their record is direct evidence to the contrary. Their run defense is slightly worse. Meh. They're 6-3. Maybe just leave the Panthers out of it if you don't want to know their record.
  21. That would be a rarity considering the Bills are near the bottom in red zone defense. It's been a problem since McDermott's arrival. The solution could be adding a dynamic egde rusher. Hughes is a solid player and Milano is a beast at what he does, but it's not quite enough.
  22. They're a good unit, but need to add another edge rusher to be dominant.
  23. Every time I watch Hauschka kick, I wonder how in the hell any team would let that guy go. Dude is just smooth with it. I still have nightmares about Rian Lindell lining up for an important kick. Just knew he'd find a way to screw it up. Hauschka seems to have the perfect mentality for a kicker. No thinking. No pressure. All business.
  24. Has Harrison Phillips really played all that well? It seems like there's some confirmation bias going on as it relates to him. Jordan Phillips has been the better Phillips. Not at football.
