  1. A coach can ask a player to meet a certain weight, but much of this is on the player to put in the work in the offseason. They're only allocated so much time to actually spend with the team. But nice retort.
  2. I have conceded the point. They improved statistically speaking and my initial statement was incorrect.
  3. Nonsense. Poyer and Hyde were outstanding in 2017 and Milano looked great down the stretch. Edit: I want to add that I understand the theory of a space eating DT allowing those around him to make plays. However, a space eater is allowed to make plays(see Ted Washington). I just don't think Star had the kind of impact expected and his PFF grades aligns with the eyeball test. I don't think he's a terrible player; just much rather allocate resources elsewhere.
  4. No. It was because they lack elite talent in the front 7. Not all on Star OBVIOUSLY. That's why I'd rather not pay a guy like that 10 mil. Save it for playmakers.
  5. It was slightly improved I suppose and you cited a valid stat to rebut my statement. Doesn't sway my opinion that I don't want to pay a space eating DT who never makes plays 10 mil/year.
  6. Please. Milano is a playmaker and Edmunds wasn't particularly good. Milano made plays as a rookie and got even better in his second year. I don't know. I guess I like guys who make plays. There is NO other DT in the league getting paid 1 million bucks a tackle with no sacks and no TFL's. It was a bad signing. No big deal. Just do better. What was the rush defense YPA prior to the release of Dareus in 2017?
  7. Then why were they 18th in points allowed and near DFL in red zone defense?
  8. What was the average YPA prior to the release of Dareus in 2017? Star is graded poorly by virtually all grading outlets for a reason. If he wasn't on the field for over half the snaps, hard to imagine you can point to him being a difference maker. But I'll give you credit for finding that stat. They were middle of the pack statistically for overall rush defense, but that particular stat is encouraging I suppose. There's no rule against space eaters making plays and Star has declined big time since he first burst on to the NFL scene.
  9. Did you really want Andre Reed to dissect the personnel decisions in this manner on Twitter? The guy was sitting at home making an observation at the large number of ex Bills currently in the playoffs. He's not applying for a GM position.
  10. That was a poor allocation of resources by Beane. No doubt about it. He was brought in to improve our run defense and the run defense did not improve. Did the Star folks read the part that states he wasn't even in the game for over half the defensive snaps? They cannot swing and miss like that this time around.
  11. Risk taking is fine. Since this thread is predicated on sheer statistics, Allen's YPA is 6.5. Not very good. Now we can point to a whole host of "reasons" for that number, but it's an important statistic and something that needs to drastically improve even if you want to discount completion percentage. If his YPA is up near 8 and his completion percentage is 58 percent, that argument will hold up.
  12. Right. With the the cap flexibility we have, we should be kicking the tires on multiple one year deals. We can easily outbid all but a couple teams for these players. Why the hell not?
  13. He looked pretty damn good in Foxborough, the place where young QB's normally go to die. The Pats were 3-5 on the road. All 5 of their losses were against non playoff teams. The only playoff team they beat on the road was Chicago. Their other two road wins were against the BILLS and the Jets. They are ripe for the picking. I expect the Chiefs to win, but uggh. We shall see.
  14. What's the spin? If everything is going according to plan, we should see some serious results in 2019, correct? That's what Bills fans should expect from their team. We've been bottom feeders long enough. Time to start winning lots of games.
  15. There's no tape in the world that's gonna teach someone how to defend a quarterback who's able to change the trajectory of his throws like a Cy Young pitcher. Mahomes is great. It's best to just call a spade a spade.
  16. Good. So we're making the playoffs in 2019, right? Awesome.
  17. You're referring to strength, which is part of athleticism. Kind of like a Big Ben. It's also been said that Tom Brady is the most elusive QB in the NFL because he's so adept as sliding around perfectly in the pocket to find the right launch spot. I guess it depends on your definition of athleticism.
  18. Yeah. I didn't really start watching NFL football until 89 and I never thought of him as even remotely athletic. I'm sure he was much more spry in his early years.
  19. If he feels that way, he needs to spend the offseason getting stronger and leaner, especially if he wants to play left tackle. He looks a bit overweight/soft and that is something easily improved with strength and conditioning.
  20. Ha. I can walk and chew gum at the same time. I enjoy watching Mahomes play yet don't hold it against the Bills for passing on him. I don't think they were prepared to make that kind of decision. It's unfortunate, (IMO), but it is what it is. Also a fan of Reid living in Delaware(30 minutes from Philly) during many of his Eagles' years. He's dealt with a lot of stuff(death of his son) and I just feel like he deserves it. Hell of a coach. If Allen develops into an above average to elite quarterback, the Mahomes thing will lose a lot of steam. Either way, I'll be rooting for the Chiefs and against the Pats.
  21. Jim Kelly and athleticism? Never heard those two words put together, but I wasn't really around for the 80's.
  22. He's gonna have to continue to run without taking hits, which he does seems particularly good at. Very good slider(I think he had to have played baseball), gets out of bounds, etc. Carson Wentz started getting really run happy before his injury at Los Angeles. He's better than Wentz at avoiding contact, but in a perfect world, he finds an intermediate streaker as opposed to taking off. The receiving group as a whole will have to get better at "staying alive." Don't think we're that far apart here.
  23. Also didn't take many hits, which is important. Russell Wilson almost never gets hit, which is why he's able to stay healthy despite putting up solid rushing numbers. I don't want Allen to stop running entirely because it's an asset. Just prefer to see it less. And the team obviously has to acquire better offensive talent so he has more viable options. We'll be able to more adequately assess his play once the overall talent is upgraded. I don't want to take it away. Just prefer to see less of it.
