The Impeachment Trial of President Donald J. Trump
LSHMEAB replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He was never going to be convicted, so a "fair" trial would have done absolutely nothing for the D's. Best possible outcome if you oppose Trump's presidency b/c the "victory tour" will be hampered by the fact that the case was never really adjudicated in the eye's of the American people. I think Dershowitz and other's made a compelling case as to why this conduct is not impeachable, but the shape shifting with this particular President is really astounding. Always starts with a denial and ends with "so what."? I try to remain impartial and understand all points of view, but I've grown tired of the consistently "evolving" accounts WRT accusations of malfeasance. We'll see what happens in November. -
Nobody loves them some Doug Flutie like Doug Flutie. That is a romance for the ages.

I mean, did anyone catch the part in which he stated he wanted a trade before the cut? Sounds like the feelings were mutual. -
Super Bowl LIV -- Predict the Score.......Free Hat!
LSHMEAB replied to KD in CA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Niners are REALLY good at controlling/running the ball/eating clock and methodically scoring. The Chiefs defense is going to have A LOT of trouble stopping that attack. So what that means for the KC offense is a limited number of opportunities against the most disruptive defense in football. This looks like a bad matchup for KC, so Niners. I don't do scores. -
Right. We all know about the deep ball issue, but he was also a split second late on many occasions which lead to sloppy footwork and errant passes. If he's able to improve his ability to scan the field, I think all the accuracy numbers will improve a great deal. If he CAN improve his read/recognition issues, the sky's the limit. It's easier said than done though.

I wouldn't bet the farm, but there is a very good chance Knox can cut down on that drop rate considering he's relatively inexperienced as a pass catcher. He's got big play ability and "explosiveness," something the offense is severely lacking. Brown has top end speed, but explosive? Not so sure. It's such a cliche, but many of the Knox drops were just a matter of turning upfield before securing the ball. The drops with Knox were almost entirely on Knox. As far as Singletary's drop rate, I'm going to have to place some of the blame on Allen. He was much, much better in the short/intermediate game, but he still wasn't particularly good at throwing dumpoffs/screens right on target. Considering Singletary also has very limited experience as a receiver, I'm not overly concerned.

So what are we betting because I'm in? As an aside, bout time UM won a basketball game. -
PFF's Big Board (I know I know, but hear me out)
LSHMEAB replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm big on Jalen Reagor. I think it would be foolish to dismiss him because of his stature. The notion that we NEED to draft a big target could lead to a mistake. I've watched many of these guys and his tape just jumps off the screen. I do also like Higgins. I feel like he's been dissected so much that people are ignoring his obvious talent. Not to the degree of a Metcalf, but to some extent. -
Agreed, but I believe McDermott can fix this problem by looking under a rock. He's been masterful this far at filling corner spots. I think with Tre on one side, there's no need to invest a high draft pick or even a mid to high FA at corner. I think we may fundamentally disagree on the importance of edge rushers. I believe it is THE most important aspect of a defense and I don't think the Bills are good enough as is. They've got to invest MOST of their capital in offense, but adding a stud pass rusher is a contingency plan of sorts in the (hopefully not) event that Allen remains stagnant or doesn't take that next step. We don't blow that 16 point lead with a disruptor like Yannick on the field. We don't allow BAKER MAYFIELD to drive right down the right with a major disruptor. The defense is very, very good, but they weren't quite good enough to carry them. With the pieces in place, I would not neglect pass rusher or RUN GAME acquisitions. As a disclaimer, I'm not "sold" on Allen just yet, so I'd like to see them remain competitive (just in case) it doesn't pan out as we hope. With a strong run game and that one pass rusher, it will actually take alot of pressure off Josh as well.

I would bet a large sum of money that Sean Payton does not view Hill as Brees' successor. Love what he brings to the game, but he's not a "quarterback." -
I mean, I don't hate your strategy of retaining Shaq and drafting a DE early and that's a likely path. BUT, they're paying Star 10 mil a year. I'll leave the "value" of that contract alone, but he has shown he'll spend money under certain circumstances. Building through the draft does not preclude a team from making some necessary FA'cy plays. And FWIW, they are going to have to pay Shaq in the 12 mil range(guesstimate). So they're going to have to drop big money just to retain Shaq.
-
Well, he isn't exactly "their own" considering he was a holdover from the previous regime. On top of that, Shaq is going to get A LOT more than people seem to believe. If you simply look at his numbers, he appears to be a budding star. I could go into detail about how his stats are skewed, but there will be a team that views him as something he's not; a potential game changing stud. He is not. Yannick, on the other hand, is a major DISRUPTOR, something the Bills defense desperately needs. I would guess that the difference in price will be in the 5 mil range. Considering the cap isn't really an issue and the Bills only real NEED defensively is a stud pass rusher, I'd gladly pay the difference assuming we have a shot at Ngouke.

Chargers moving on from Philip Rivers after 16 years
LSHMEAB replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly believe he will have a very tough time finding a suitor for the 20 or so mil it would cost to sign him. His demands would be considered "diva" behavior if he weren't a (sort of) beloved tenured QUARTERBACK. Team's are willing to put up with the demands as long as the player is elite. Once that is no longer the case, the demands suddenly become a non starter. -

I don't see how that works in the Packers scenario. Green Bay would most likely not be able to accumulate a whole bunch of players because they'd run into the cap. As others have noted, this basically already happens. I don't have an opinion either way, but I don't think it swings the pendulum all that much.

We don't know. That much is true. But there is a TREMENDOUS amount of evidence that the allegation was false. I FULLY believe it was false and beyond initial evidence, subsequent behavior and occurrences have only strengthened my PERSONAL belief. I wasn't there, so I'll never know anything with certainty just as not a single person can claim to KNOW that OJ Simpson murdered Goldman/Brown.

If it weren't for basketball, none of us would have any idea who he was. But there was something about the guy that I can't articulate properly. Handsome/really intelligent guy with an incredible drive. Mysterious in a sense.(Sounds melodramatic) I wasn't even a fan. I hate the Lakers to be entirely honest. But I'm trying to figure out why his death is hitting me so hard. My reaction to celebrity deaths is generally that everyone dies. Been though a lot of personal tragedy, so I'm somewhat numb to emotion as it pertains to people I don't know. This just feels different. Sorry about the C's loss!

Good post. I will say, beyond basketball and celebrity, there WAS something "extraordinary" about Bryant. Not extraordinary in the sense that he was a saint or a monster. Extraordinary in the sense that he had an aura that is rare. A certain energy that made you want to know more. There were thoughts behind his facial expressions, and when he chose to express his thoughts, they were poignant, thought provoking, and even inspirational. I believe that "aura" is the reason this news is hitting people like a ton of bricks.

I'm a Bills fan. I simply observe other teams. Jackson has limitations and I'm not sure that his style of play is sustainable, but the idea that he's been "figured out" because he's 0-2 in the playoffs seems......premature. He's a good player. Put up like 500 yards of offense in the loss. How would you compare his success to Allen's? Just sayin.
