  1. Yep. It's not about abandoning defense. It's about abandoning the idea that you're gonna get stops on every possession. To beat the top teams, you need to rush the passer and have corners/safeties/LB's who can cover. Can't get GASHED in the run game, but it's less of a priority. Modern defense is all about sacks, TFL's, and turnovers.
  2. If you're talking about using the ninth pick, you really want him to be able to play LT when you start thinking about dollars. But I get your point.
  3. It was a snarky comment that came back to bite me considering the game is on NFLN. I generally wait for highlights on these type of games and/or opinions. Yeah. But nobody on the board is on the Dillard train so he must suck! Thanks for the info. Was noteworthy to see some pundits peg him as the best tackle.
  4. As long as Patrick/Theisman were together, I'll never be able to get their collective voices on the Music City Bull**** out of my head. Tasker just balled out.
  5. Michigan had a rare Friday night game(and thumping of Indiana), but I'll still probably watch mostly college basketball. Generally can only stomach the pro bowl for about 15 minutes, not an NHL fan, and I'd rather wait for highlights from the Senior Bowl.
  6. Just need to bring in Eck to close things out, although Tom Brady is the eternal Kirk Gibson.
  7. Touche. Just following it on ESPN.com as I watch my bets go down in flames.
  8. Appreciate the knowledge! I thought Matt Stevens was gonna be the next big thing. Now that guy had a great head of hair.
  9. Fully appreciate the depth of this explanation, but I assume BB had been skirting the "law" for years. Didn't seem to help Bledsoe in 00 or even the first two games in 01. Not sure the technology was available when he was in Cleveland.
  10. Then why in the world are you suggesting we potentially use multiple 4th or 5th rd picks on wide receivers? Edit. I'm starting to get the feeling that Brady may work himself into the 3rd round.
  11. Is there still a penalty for not using enough of the cap? Because I feel like we're gonna have a hard time even getting close to the number.
  12. I think the secondary was relatively weak during the SB run. The pass rush from the likes of Smith/Bennett/Hansen made their job quite a bit easier. Unfortunately, they also weren't particularly big or strong at the point of attack so they got steamrolled by NFC teams like Dallas and Washington. Odomes flamed out when he left. Jackson? Meh. Henry Jones was probably the only really good back end player of that era. Kelso? Meh.
  13. He provided 3 names of players he's looked at/like. 2 of them are likely to go after the 3rd round. Pretty sure he wasn't implying they neglect the OL. That particular guy does more research on these guys than just about anyone on the board.
  14. Lots of good stuff in there, but the keypharse to me was individual psyche. I can't even imagine how self assured one has to be to reach the pinnacle as a quarterback. It's the most demanding position in sports. I certainly don't have the psyche(NOR THE TALENT) to do it. I imagine that the individual psyche separates the also rans from the hall of famers. Not quite sure a hall of fame psyche can be ruined. As to Allen, the hard work and determination is there. I certainly don't think 2018 is going to "ruin" him. He'll sink or swim in the long run based on his ability to improve in certain areas. He'll eventually have a decent supporting cast.(we hope)
  15. It was certainly creative; that much I will give them. Honestly wasn't sure if the humor was inherent as it IS a bit over the top. I'll keep it positive and stick with creative.
  16. I question, to an extent, if a quarterback can be ruined "for life" by a bad early experience. Excellence at the most demanding position in sports requires a certain intestinal fortitude that few possess. Aikman's name is thrown around quite a bit as a guy who turned it around despite a crap supporting cast. I'll flip that and say he wasn't ruined as a quarterback. Now he announces like he's taken too many shots to the head, but that's a different story. It just seems to me that a guy who's going to be an elite quarterback will overcome most obstacles.
  17. Truthful hyperbole is all the rage these days. No. He does not throw every ball 100 MPH, but his greatest opportunity for improvement is touch on the gimmies. I think it's reasonable to assume that's something he'll focus on.
  18. Gilibrand is a trash candidate. I'm not gonna get into a substantive debate because I'm pretty sure you know where I stand and vice/versa, but Beto is a political force. Damn near won in ruby red Texas. If an up and coming republican came within a few points of representing Cali or NY in the Senate, I'd consider them a threat.
  19. When the best dirt you have is a dental visit, it's probably not a good sign. Warren is damaged goods, Biden represents the past, and Harris just doesn't have the political chops. The optics of O'Rourke vs. Trump will not be good for your side, but time will tell.
  20. Beto is the strongest candidate by far. He's the one you should be concerned about.
  21. Yes. But it also affects yardage totals, which should have been less. And the "defense was on the field too much" excuse doesn't work either. We were middle of the pack in terms of T.O.P. RZ defense; not good. This is why we need to be strongly considering an edge rusher at 9. You need a big time playmaker in the RZ. The defense is good. If they want to be one of the premier units, they've got to improve the pass rush. I wouldn't take a chance on any of these receivers in the first round. There's plenty of depth at the position in this draft.
  22. The receivers are a work in progress in the receiver threads and the receivers are all trash in the Allen threads. Rinse and repeat. Time to start winning.
