  1. Yeah. It sucks when it's relatives, but I find it even more annoying when it's just a casual acquaintance. "Oh, the Bills? That was a shame they lost all those Superbowls." They're not even trying to be d****. It's just the only thing we're known for. So then I gotta do the old awe shucks like it's a fresh wound. I'm thinking about 2019, not 1993.
  2. I may be in the minority, but I'm fine with that particular legacy becoming extinct. You get pretty tired of hearing about the SB losses every time you tell someone you're a Bills fan. That was 25 years ago! Maybe if they can actually start winning games, the perception will change. What have we done since those SB losses? The correct answer is not a damn thing, which is why that's all we're known for. Winning cures all.
  3. A certain Bills Hall of Famer comes to mind.
  4. Yeah. I'm in this thing for the long haul. If Allen doesn't work out, the Bills will continue to exist and I'll continue to be a fan. Considering our history, the wait and see approach is the way to go. Allen is going to be the quarterback for the foreseeable future so it's on him to get it done. I don't think it's a cheap shot at Allen as much as it is pointing out that QB's like EJ and JP looked good at times and didn't pan out. Still find it odd that JP got into coaching considering the rep, as you mentioned, was that he wasn't that into the game. Perhaps he had a change of heart. He majored in classical studies at Tulane so perhaps there wasn't much work in that field.
  5. I agree with your overall assessment, but the one aspect of defense that I don't attribute to luck is sacks. You get elite pass rushers and you're likely to get sacks, which tend to increase your chances at those turnovers and defensive touchdowns.
  6. Yes. It sounds like good defense circa 2019. The formula would have been a bit different 10-15 years ago. If a defense could stop the run and wasn't a liability in the pass game, they could really dominate. The inverse is true today, although it's virtually impossible to "dominate" with rule changes and advanced passing concepts.
  7. Not really. Pass rushers, ballhawks, etc are where you want to allocate resources on defense. Good defense circa 2019 means creating turnovers and getting to the quarterback. Also need to get stops in the RZ which usually requires playmakers who can get TFL's, sacks, or even INT's.
  8. What I think you're driving at is that EJ and JP are cautionary tales. I'll personally never fully believe in a quarterback until I see them excel for an extended period of time. Burned too many times and numbers trump eye tests. There is reason for both optimism and skepticism when it comes to Josh Allen.
  9. Sadly, Aaron Schobel is probably the best pass rusher we've drafted in 30 years. Bruce Smith was the last great one. QB's and pass rushers. That's what it's all about. We took a shot on a QB and hopefully he's the guy. Time to get a top pass rusher.
  10. The fact that the Bills played the NFC and their SB counterparts well in the regular season has been discussed for 25 years. As someone said, let us know when you obtain the answer to your specific question.
  11. Oh indeed I do. They were hilarious; the SB Shuffle in particular. I think every person involved in that would look back and laugh hysterically. It's not a bad thing.
  12. Ehhhhh, I don't know. DA didn't seem to be having a whole lot of fun when he was playing. Just a subjective observation. The OP makes a valid point. DA is tying up a spot that could be used elsewhere. It may be a minor issue, but carrying 3 QB's limits the pool of available ST'ers. It's pretty obvious DA is a playing coach, for all intents and purposes. They must believe he's vital for Allen's development because roster spots are valuable.
  13. 26th in sacks is the corollary. While ST/D TD's are pretty random, the best way to get em is to whip opposing QB's. Gotta add some personnel in this dept. Fair point. Still want to add a pass rusher.
  14. I'd love for them to be zeroed in on Ferrell. This guy is going to be the real deal IMO. Remember that Cal QB nobody wanted because his predecessors failed? What's his face from the Packers?? Don't like Gary or Polite that high so Ferrell's availability/how the FO evaluates him will determine quite a bit. I'm starting to get a nagging feeling they'll take Gary. I'd rather go WR/OL if they don't like Ferrell or he's not there. We definitely need to add an athletic edge rusher whether it be through the draft or via FA'cy/cuts. Ansah is just so meh.
  15. The only guy from that list that you could call a bust is JD Williams. We weren't really drafting corners high because we already had a number 1 and that was a different era. We lost the SB's because we got blown away up front. Kirby Jackson was a solid player. Again, just silliness.
  16. Henry Jones had an excellent career and Kurt Schultz was a steal in the 7th round. Thomas Smith and Jeff Burris were far from busts. The secondary was not the issue in any of our Superbowls. This is ridiculous.
  17. I don't believe he's the Ansah. I think our edge player is going to come in the first round of the draft and the rest of the resources will be spent on offense.
  18. Beilein turns 2 star recruits into NBA players. He's the very best at identifying his type of player and coaching them up. I'm a huge fan. Not sure that he'll ever win a title, but he's the best X's and O's coach in the game IMO. This season is kind of odd in that they usually have more than one screw up this time of year. We shall see.
  19. Ha. Your FRIEND will probably have to barter or something. Good question.
  20. Nice road win at Nebraska. Always a hostile environment. Bring it Tuesday.?
  21. Fully agree. Probably a good reason to be extremely careful about ridding your team of talented players. Just a thought.
  22. Holidays are trash and birthday celebrations are asinine. You want a cookie because the earth revolved around the sun? Ridiculous. You really need St. Patrick's Day and NYE as an excuse to get drunk? I'll get drunk on Tuesday if I feel like it.
  23. This is spot on. There are anomalies like Green Bay where they were so atrocious offensively that even an Aaron Rodgers can struggle, but for the most part, the QB makes the offense tick. If you have a franchise QB, all you really need is a decent supporting cast.
  24. Cash will be obsolete within 10 years, so that's no surprise. I'm more concerned about the transition timeframe at MeadCoin Field to a Meadcoin only policy. In all seriousness, we're really jumping the gun here. Quite possible NE Field will remain NE Field.
  25. Will they accept credit cards/cash or strictly Meadcoins? Probably need a year or two to fully implement a Meadcoin only policy. People are resistant to change.
