Not to rain on any parades, but Jimbo has talked up pretty much every QB we've drafted excluding EJ. Don't think he had great things to say IIRC. I actually had a chance to talk to him for quite a while back in 1998 when we first acquired Rob Johnson. Was working at a shoestore called Just For Feet and he happened to be our celebrity guest at the grand opening. This was in Delaware so quite a gift and very few people were all up in his mug! He had nothing but overflowing praise for Rob. Not taking anything away from Allen, but Jimbo has always been a glass half full guy regarding our QB's. This language may be a bit more effusive though.

I actually don't find it all that crazy to think Allen could go number 1. He's the best player in the draft IMO. Just seems like most people have Bosa rated higher.

I know Zierlein is relatively well regarded, so who knows. Last year may have been an aberration with so few surprises. Allen over Bosa? Meh. Maybe. Ferrell and Oliver in the 20's? More likely Ferrell drops. Can't see ANY way Oliver goes 28, but I've heard the spiel about GM's not liking what they see in person. We shall see. I guess I wouldn't be shocked if that were the QB order. Murray is the kind of prospect some team will fall in love with. I think he's really overselling his point by mocking Oliver at 28.

It wouldn't shock me. They swung for the fences on Edmunds and Allen. Metcalf fits the mold of freak athlete who has yet to truly excel (untapped "POTENTIAL").

If you neglect an entire side of the field in ANY offseason, you damn well better be prepared to see that unit deteriorate. It's not like the defense doesn't have room to improve. RZ defense comes to mind. The only way to contain the top QB's is by getting in their mug all day. We do not have a dominant pass rusher and that's a problem.

This is a terrific post, but I'll quibble with one thing; a quarterback can press much like a pitcher or a shooter. A receiver can overthink the catch. For the most part, you really can't "press" in football like other sports, but those two spots would be the exception.

It makes a ton of sense to target Brown. He's got the kind of power/athleticism we're looking for and it's easier to poach players from NE because you're gonna be able to outbid them. It didn't work out well for the NYG, but that has little bearing on Brown's prognosis.

I think there's a good chance the Rams win. As great and historic as the dynasty has been, 5-4 will once again be a topic of discussion as it was before Atlanta folded.

It's been reported that they actually do have a serious recruiting problem, but I agree that Buffalo is better than Green Bay.

I'm not in the Buffalo bashing business, but why do none of our current players make WNY their permanent residence? It is what it is. I love Buffalo, but it's not for everyone. I remember finding it odd that Nate Odomes rented some dump apartment behind my cousin's house in Armor.

Lorax has one season left and Jerry is 30+. We're talking about the most important position defensively. It's a big need and this is a great draft to find one.

We shouldn't be cutting players just for the hell of it or 4.5 mil in cap savings. They're gonna have zero issues with the cap. Give him a shot to have a bounce back year as he was pretty solid the previous 3 seasons. Obviously going to address the position, but I could definitely see Clay back and relatively productive as the QB progresses. Health will likely play a major role in their decision.

Darius Slay plays in Detroit for heaven's sake. This franchise is at a serious disadvantage when it comes to free agency. That's why they MUST draft well.

What I meant was that they yardage totals SHOULD have been great. Not that they should have been great. Of course the yardage totals are gonna be skewed when the other team is constantly getting the ball in good field position. Total yards allowed per drive was independently excellent, but some of that can be attributed to teams calling off the dogs. I saw this defense get whipped in Indy and Baltimore. I saw this defense not come up with key stops against the lowly Dolphins and Jets. Red zone? ATROCIOUS. This can be solved with one elite edge playmaker. Got any other solutions? Hope it was just bad luck and it'll even itself out? I don't believe the offense is going to make the kind of strides necessary to be a top half unit, so if we want to compete next season, we damn well better solidify the strength.

Doug Heffernan was a solid high school fullback. Didn't get many carries, but credited with several pancake blocks(although his teammates seemed to have forgotten). The grunts never get credit. I hope Terry can DELIVER for the Bills.

The ODU kid is definitely an interesting prospect if we trade down and go offense early.
