  1. Or when they can't transition from said planned spiel to properly analyze an important play that just occurred. "Nice pick 6. Ok. As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted by the action, yada, yada, yada."
  2. How can I argue such a point? Maybe everyone was on the same page as it was McDermott's second year. Johnson at slot corner was a terrific tackler. Milano grew by leaps and bounds. If we're gonna judge an entire unit based on one guy, we got GASHED up and down without Milano against the Pats. I don't think Star does much of anything, but it's damn near impossible to debate the merits of a guy who isn't necessarily supposed to make plays. You would think he could make a FEW.
  3. PFF does no such thing. He graded out well in his early years without putting up bigtime stats(although he did make a COUPLE of plays a season.) He graded out as below average in 2018.
  4. Just never thought of him as handsome, but I should probably stay in my lane on that.?
  5. Never got the outrage when Prescott won the job. Romo was decent, but he was damaged goods and always failed in the playoffs(when they weren't their typical 8-8.) He's a seemingly great guy, but vastly overrated as a QB. Really? Hmm. Kind of surprising.
  6. Oh I know. I kind of respect some of the mental gymnastics people engage in to defend Star, but it's way off base IMO. The run defense was AWFUL for a 3 game stretch after Dareus was cut, so the improvement isn't nearly as impressive as it's made out to be. I've said my piece on Star. I think it was an awful signing. Poyer was an EXCELLENT signing by the last dude or perhaps McDermott. Not quite sure who was responsible, but it was great.
  7. He's great at what he does, but it actually annoys me to an extent when he predicts the play. Not nearly as much as Witten's "he's got _ open!" Since I can't see the entire field, sometimes I prefer the intrigue.
  8. It was an exaggeration, but people make a lot of excuses for Star based on what they're told by the Bills and a few nice comments by teammates. Lorax is a process guy so of course he's gonna give a shoutout to the Bills prized 2018 FA. Star has regressed quite a bit from his early days and that's reflected in his poor PFF grade. He didn't make a ton of plays early in his career, but he was graded much higher because he was more effective. It wasn't a very good signing.
  9. I get it, but like I said, it's not my money. 4 mil isn't gonna affect Terry's lifestyle. Strictly from a Bills standpoint, they got a pick for nothing but cash. Little to no impact on the cap. The guy writing the checks? Yeah, it probably stings. Will never defend the way they handled the QB situation in 2018. Atrocious.
  10. Admittedly skimmed through the thread and was just looking at that particular transaction in isolation. Their handling of the QB position was beyond awful.
  11. As others have noted, what's a free agent going to say? "I view myself as a third option?" The market will dictate his decision. I like to look at where guys played college ball to determine whether they'd be into Buffalo. He played his college ball at Oregon State, so that's not bad. He'd be an OK pickup. We're not getting Tyreke Hill, so we've got to consider all options.
  12. I actually see that as a positive considering I'm not writing the checks. It's basically a 5th round pick for nothing(other than Terry's money).
  13. Peyton is a great coach, but can you imagine a Belichick team responding to a call like that? (I know, I know, it would never happen.) His body language appeared to set the tone for the entire team. The Saints got screwed, but it wasn't the last play of the game. They had their chances to overcome it and failed.
  14. I don't argue with data. I guess I would say my perception is skewed by the Fins and Jets late game drives and the Indy/Baltimore fails. They are a very good unit overall and the data reflects that. As far as I know, the data also suggests they were good, not great at pressures/sacks per dropback. Could be wrong about that. This is the reason I'm so hung up on an extra pass rusher. My eyeballs tell me that an additional consistent pass rusher/playmaker will improve the one area that could be viewed as something less than a strength and certainly needs to be addressed going forward. Jerry is 31. Lorax is 36. Some people seem content with not addressing the defense at all and that would be a big mistake IMO.
  15. Yeah. I agree with this but I'll bite the bullet and offer a slight critique of Allen. He not only needs to check down more often, but also work on the timing. Just checking down does nothing if you don't give the back/tight end/whatever a chance to run with it. EJ and Trent Edwards were checkdown machines but they always seem to get guys killed. Allen didn't lead his receivers to destruction like those two. I'll give him that. But he was often a bit late or slightly off target. If he can get that down, it'll be a big deal. Shady. I just don't know. From my vantage point, he appears to be done, but he pretty much NEVER had a lane. I think he's still respected around the league and teams keyed on him. Combine that with an atrocious run blocking unit, and there is a CHANCE he could have a productive 2019 with OL improvement. I expect him to be on the roster, so we should find out.
  16. "They" call it the Patriot Way but I've never once heard Belichick murmur any such thing. I highly doubt he's telling Sony Michel to run the ball the "Patriot Way" or Trey Flowers to rush the passer the "Patriot Way." You know you've arrived when others have to come up with a name for the way you do things.
  17. They will not cut Lotulelei, nor should they. They vastly overpaid and he's not a great player by any stretch of the imagination, but he's serviceable. If they could go back in time, they may do things differently. As it stands right now, he'll be here for a couple seasons. Cap space is pretty irrelevant as it may be tough to even approach the number.
  18. Big time. I understand people are looking at several FA's lineman, but Brown is a guy who's very likely to be in play. Many of the other guys will re-sign with their current teams.
  19. I don't disagree. I guess what I'm saying career wise is that it would be a higher risk/higher reward thing taking the Buffalo job. He may very well prefer college for all I know.
  20. Not so sure about that. I think Allen is still viewed as raw and Lawrence is considered a lock to be the top pick in the draft. How much is anyone really going to attribute that to Streeter? If he comes in and Allen has a great season, he's on the fast track. If you believe in Allen, you strongly consider the move.
  21. What about 20-0? Maybe multiple teams in the AFC go 16-0 and the Bills end up in a WC game based on some tiebreakers. Set your sights higher!
  22. Can't deal with a city where you gotta fight through sidewalks like a freaking traffic jam. Only time I was there was the week before the SB so maybe it's not always that bad. Prefer to have some space to breathe. Rather live in Buffalo than NYC.
