  1. Can't agree with the confidence in Murphy, but yes to everything else.
  2. I wasn't expecting a competitive roster, but I'm also not convinced they needed to rid themselves of all the players they rid themselves of. I also understand that because they made this decision, they were going to be bad in 2019. What I DON'T understand is why people are more confident in Beane than McDermott. Beane has proven he can destroy a roster. Now he has a CHANCE to rebuild it. His fate will be determined by Allen/Edmunds progress and this off season. I will believe in Beane when he fields a competitive roster. McDermott has gotten a 5-11 roster to the playoffs. He guided a 3 win team to 6 wins. He has PROVEN something, whether you love his approach or not. I don't have "faith" when it comes to the Bills. I'll believe it when I see it.
  3. What I was trying, unsuccessfully based on the reactions, to say is that I have more confidence in McDermott than I do Beane. The prevailing wisdom on this board is that the two are interchangeable or even that Beane is more competent than McDermott. My view is that McDermott has proven more as a HC than Beane has as a GM. It was a direct response to Polian's comment stating that the coaching has lead the team to more wins than the talent would seem to warrant. It was a compliment to McD sprinkled in with some skepticism as to whether Beane will get it done. This offseason will be telling. Apparently this is an outlandish supposition. Meh. What can ya do? I call it like I see it.
  4. I definitely didn't need the description. Not quite sure why that was necessary. Kid looks good, but it's a highlight video. Still not a fan because of size/speed/productivity. Not quite sure why this guy is considered some hot prospect. Maybe I'm missing something.
  5. I feel like that may be the one. It was the Raiders though as Gault had gone to Oakland by 90. Appreciate it.
  6. Good post, although your outlook is obviously a bit sunnier than mine. I think we all agree this is going to be a pivotal offseason for Beane. He's got to significantly upgrade the offensive personnel. I'm not 100 percent sold on Allen either, but you damn well better get some pieces around a QB when you draft him number 7 overall. After enduring the past 25 years with this franchise, I'm a wait and see kind of guy. I've seen real life results from McDermott. I question his approach at times, but I can honestly say he's maximized the talent on the roster. When I see Beane compile a competitive roster, I'll be sold. No sooner. No later.
  7. It would be super awesome if someone who groaned this post could rebut the statement that "McDermott has proven more than Beane thus far." I mean, it seems like common sense. I'm truly puzzled.
  8. I think the draft is top heavy defensively, but relatively deep at WR and OL. We generally don't do well if FA'cy going after WR's, but there are tight ends and OL available. The guy I'd love to see them go after on the line is Brown from NE. A)He's got the kind of physicality we're looking for and B)NE will set a price and not match if we come with a better offer. A lot of the other guys are likely to re-sign with their current teams. The receivers are gonna have to come through the draft most likely. Also wouldn't mind seeing them take a flier on a guy like Maxx Williams from Baltimore. I think he's better than his numbers indicate and Baltimore drafted Hurst. He's a very realistic option. Won't excite a whole lot of people, but these kind of additions can help the overall talent level.
  9. I realize all of this. I was not particularly impressed with his FA signings last season. I do not like the WR's he's acquired as a whole. I'm not 100 percent sure about the draft, but both first rounders have big POTENTIAL and Johnson was a steal. He did an OUTSTANDING job finding gems like Wallace and Foster. I have still yet to see him field a solid roster, which is why I'm not "sold." That's pretty much where I'm at. It's a make or break offseason for Beane. You can't draft a QB number 7 and field a trash offense. He's got to make the right moves offensively. We shall see.
  10. He was a below average player at the most important defensive position who got paid like he was rock solid. It's not that he was terrible. It's that he should have been strictly a rotational guy. He's very emblematic of the Bills mediocrity over the last 20 years.
  11. I am open to all points of view. I share mine. You share yours. I read positive takes, negative takes, and everything in between. I recognize that each individual is going to have an opinion. That's kind of the point of a message board. As to your statement; It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. A limited amount of knowledge is precisely why one would not be sold. When Beane fields a competitive roster, I will be sold. McDermott has already proven that he can take a bad roster to the playoffs and get 6 wins out of perhaps the worst roster in the league; which is why I have more confidence in McDermott than BB. I like results. The oddity is that my post was more of a compliment to McDermott than a putdown of Beane. The consensus on the board appears to be that Beane is definitely the guy and McDermott may be the guy. I believe the reverse is true.
  12. Cool nickname bro. And I've been told a million times on this very board that Beane had nothing to do with the 2017 roster. Was that true? I swear we have to be the softest fanbase in the history of mankind. I say I believe in the coach, but I'm not sold on the GM. That elicits this kind of response? Holy smokes.
  13. Has he fielded a competitive roster? The answer is no. That's all I was saying. What I read from Polian is exactly the way I see it; the coach has gotten the most out of crap rosters. It doesn't mean Beane will never get it done. I just find it odd that people have more confidence in BB than they do in McDermott.
  14. He has yet to field a competitive roster and he APPEARS to have gotten a real QB. Like I said, he has proven nothing whereas McDermott has proven he can maximize the roster. I didn't say Beane was going to fail. I said he has proven nothing. Which is true.
  15. I get it. I understand the circumstances around the decision(or lackthereof). It was something of a glib response to the poster who cited QB as the reason other coach's have had immediate success.
  16. This is why I'm confused as to why people are more sold on Beane than McDermott. Teardown/reconstruction/whatever; Beane has yet to put together a competitive roster whereas McDermott has done a fine job with crap rosters. McDermott has gotten more results than Beane thus far.
  17. Yeah. I don't think we have the luxury of drafting an upgraded version of McKittrick. Campbell is a much better prospect than Isaac, but I agree with your overall sentiment. Although if they have him rated super high and he's still on the board where they see it as tremendous value, you can't dismiss it entirely.
  18. If McD had the ba**s to oust the tenured GM, you'd think he may have had the ba**s to draft a certain QB who shall remain nameless.
  19. Yep. We've already got Evans, so we gotta get a big, possession receiver! Never, ever draft based on the "type" of player you need at a position. Bad idea jeans.
  20. Projected 4.8 forty? And I think 260 is generous. Not trying to be imPOLITE, but I have zero interest in this dude.
  21. So you're saying QB should have been the initial top priority? Kind of makes McD's big first decision look stupid, doesn't it?
  22. Was that the game where Odomes(I think) just ripped the ball out of a WR's hands? I tried bing, but couldn't find anything that matches my recollection of that Monday Night play.
  23. Marvin Harrison would have been seen as a process guy oddly enough. I'd give up a 3rd for AB, but they'll likely get more from an immediate contender.
  24. Julius Peppers!!!!!! We won a meaningless game against the Panthers in 01 that netted us Mike Williams.
  25. Tyre Brady. Marshall. Guy has possibly the best hands of any WR in this draft. Outstanding catch radius which is a good fit for us. As an aside, I sent out a random tweet about Brady and 3 of his teammates RT'd. I guess his teammates like him, but it's a bit odd they're doing random searches of his name.
