Less than a week to my big Vegas trip! (LAMP)
EZC-Boston replied to EZC-Boston's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've heard good things, I think we're definitely checking that out. Rumor is they have a decent happy hour too but I haven't found anything official. -
I've been to Vegas about 10 times before but it's been about 3 years since my last trip. I'm pretty excited, we're heading out for my buddy's bachelor party. Has anybody been recently? Anything new to check out? We're a mix of gamblers/drinkers so would love any advice...

John Valby @ Brant Fire Hall Oct 17
EZC-Boston replied to taterhill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm impressed with the pull you guys have. Who else is headlining the firehall this fall? -
Right, technically playing online isn't the issue, it is funding the accounts. It's a pretty big mess and was pretty shady when it went down (added to a homeland security bill or something). People in the industry are lobbying hard to have it 100% legal again but it probably won't happen overnight. Right now it is up to the sites themselves to determine if they want US players in. A lot of the ones that pulled out of the US are publicly traded in Europe or elsewhere and didn't want to take a risk by catering to US players. I play on Players Only (a small site but had a good promo a few weeks back) and it just took my Visa card and I was playing 30 seconds later. If you'd really like to support the cause sign up with the PPA

I like blondes and brunettes but this is my current favorite: Ainsley On Fox News

I like twitter but don't use it for networking or professional purposes. During the World Series of Poker it was a good way to keep up to date on players and how they were doing. I know that's not everyone's thing but I'm sure others are into something else that they would like to follow. For instance I follow Darren Rovell. He used to be on ESPN and now covers sports for CNBC. He always has an interesting perspective on sports from a financial side. I'm sure there are 1000s of other similar examples but then millions of losers who waste time on there and add no value.

Bills/Sabres Fans - what color should I paint my game room?
EZC-Boston replied to EZC-Boston's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Interesting theory. I wonder if gold walls would look hideous. -
I plan on painting my game room next weekend but can't figure out what color to go with. I want something to support the Sabres or Bills but none of their colors really catches my eye (plus I'm a little colorblind). Anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking about the blue from the throwback jerseys but that was before my time and might be too dark for a big room. I'm sure somebody here has an opinion.

2009 World Series of Poker Main Event
EZC-Boston replied to EZC-Boston's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah some big names got shut out too, TJ Cloutier, Patrick Antonius and a few others I think. Ivey at the FT is huge. I'm predicting we get a mainstream sponsor for him. Maybe Pepsi or something like that. I think it would be silly for him not to look for something like that. -

There were 4 starting Days (1A,1B,1C,1D) and players were allowed to register for whatever day they wanted to play. The first day got around 1,100, the second day (4th of July) got around 900, the 3rd day 1,900 and then day 1D had 2,800 runners but would have had more. They ran out of space and had to announce that the 1D was sold out. That left between 100 to 750 players unable to play in the biggest/best tournament of the year. They explored a lot of options but basically didn't have space to fit another 100 poker tables, dealers, etc. People will blame Harrahs for not planning well but I think they players only have themselves to blame for not signing up in time. There were 4 starting days, I know the last day is the best (least time required to be in Vegas) but pre-registration was open since March so what were they waiting for? Anyway, they'll fix it for next year I'm sure. -
2009 World Series of Poker Main Event

Down to 27, Ivey & Esfandiari still standing. Ivey has won 2 bracelets already this year. If he wins the ME, basically becomes the best WSOP performance ever. Would be even crazier because Jeff Lisandro (not a household name, mainly known for threatening to knock a guy's head off because he accused (falsely) Lisandro of not putting his ante in) already won 3 bracelets this year and that was expected to be the story of this year. Esfandiari and Ivey in the November 9 would be incredible for poker since I think they will both try to capitalize on the spotlight. -

Check out poker player Kara Scott. I think she's better looking. -
They started with over 6,000 runners (and a little controversy) but there are only 2 days of play left to determine the 2009 November 9. A few notables still alive: Phil Ivey Antonio Esfandiari Dennis Phillips (the 2008 November 9 Chip Leader and eventual 3rd place finisher) Tom Schneider Joe Sebok Who you guys pulling for? I'm a huge Poker Road fan so I'm sweating Sebok. It would be great if any of those guys make the final table. Some good stories this WSOP, not sure if anybody else has been following, but I wake up every morning wishing I was in Vegas during the WSOP. Grinding out the tournaments has to be better than working for Lumberg.

What city/school? I spent a semester in Melbourne, best time ever!

I will vouche for the Roomba. I have one that is couple years old, not the type of the line but still great. I paid $100 for it on woot and it is well worth the money. My basic statement is: it vacuums 10 times better than I would. Who has shag carpet in 2009?

Yeah I shutting off the wireless adapter and dtv receiver and it still didn't work. that's what's making me think something is up....
-
OK, I'll try this one thing. How do I make sure I've got DCHP selected?
-
Yup tried that, tried restarting my computer, all sorts of stuff
-
Ok I'm usually pretty good with this stuff but I'm lost on this one. I just hooked up my DTV DVR to the internet using a wireless adapter, which I needed to do for DTV On Demand. That's up and working just fine, but coincendentally now my computer can't get on my wireless network. My laptop (that I'm using now) works fine but I can't get my desktop on my wirless network. It can see the network but when I click on connect, it just says "Aquiring Network Address" and never connects. I went to the local computer store and the guy told me that that network adapter and my desktop probably have the same IP address but I don't know how to fix that, plus I'm not sure that is right since I unplugged the network adapter and tried to get online with my desktop and it still didn't do it. I think it would be too big of a coincedence that it goes down the day I put the DTV online for the cause to be something else. Any thoughts?
