It has to do with the swelling associated with the injury. That isnt a crazy timeline to get ACL surgery

Holliday season may have been a factor as well.  Desired surgeon might not have been available by the time the swelling went down.

We would be tied on first tie breaker still and it goes to the second tie breaker which I believe is record vs common opponents which we have a 1 game advantage on.  They did the whole scenario earlier, we tie again on first tie breaker and win on second tie breaker.

Bills can’t finish the season lower than the 2 seed if the Bills vs Bengals game is declared a no contest

So resting everyone is an option if Chiefs win…correct?

Bills are locked in as 2 seed if KC wins.  Our seeding can not change if KC wins and the Bills vs Bengals game is a no contest.  So the Bengal comparison is irrelevant to this situation.

If Bills lose and Bengals win the Bills are the 3 seed.

  4. If I recall correctly, Cinncy opted to rest starters last year against Cleveland and resigned themselves to the 4 seed.  That worked out well for them.

Not saying the Bills should do the same but interesting case study.

I would prefer to win to defer KC as long as possible.

If the game is actually meaningless, then yeah sure rest as many starters as you can.  Allen doesn't need to be playing a game just for practice.  This would be SOP for any team in that situation.

I think it is impossible for it to be meaningless.

Let’s Go Buffalo

Who wants to shutdown UB football?  First I have heard of this.

If this is true and chiefs win Saturday I am definitely resting starters vs the pats.

The main advantage of the one seed is the bye week. Who cares about 2 vs 3 seed. This team plays fine on the road.

Plus it sets us up to play the ravens in the wc round which is basically a guaranteed win.

Having the 2 seed last year instead of the 3 seed would have been a huge deal.  KC at OP in January.   It matters.

I hate this scenario but likely.   If it benefitted the Bengals I would feel better about it.  But the Chiefs….who were both beaten by the Bills and Bengals, doesn’t feel right.

If having a better record in conference is such a big deal with tie breakers,  why couldn’t that be the correct winning percentage formula?

Nothing cracks me up more than the Peterman hate.  Guy has made millions as an NFL QB, and will probably continue to do so if he wishes.

    Good for him.

I bet he turns to coaching soon and will make hundreds of thousands $ each year, maybe millions, for next 30 to 35 years either at college or NFL level.

No one is saying that. At least I'm not. I think you are taking many people's posts out of content.

All we have to go by is the 5 minutes and change of the game. With respect, it certainly wasn't going as planned or hoped by Bills players or fans. That's the point I am making. From the start, the Bills D was getying gashed and smashed. Sorry, there is no other way to say it or see it.

Now, could the Bills come back and win the game? Absolutely they could have. We've seen it time and time again. This team is tough, resilient,  and does win close games.

However, the Bills were behind early, on the road, playing an excellent team with an elite QB and excellent receivers, and extremely banged up and thin in the secondary. Add that all up and it's a tough sell to me seeing the Bills win.

I agree with you.  I was getting a bad vibe before the game and during.  It felt like the Colts game last year.   Things were just not going to go their way last night.

Agree with everything except tie…. Probably just won’t even count the game.

They might offer the bills/bengals finishing this game later this week and slide the bills and bengals games back next week but not fully canceling the bye before the superbowl.  And if the bengals and bills both don’t want to do that they’ll probably just tie the game.

I seriously doubt they push back Pats/Bills and Ravens/Bengals.  All 4 will not want less time to prepare for the playoffs.

I’m sure you’re kidding, but hopefully you’re not thinking being wet or cold has one iota to do with a cold because it doesn’t.  As an aside I work with Critical Care Pulmonologists and Infectious Disease Specialists.

I was completely kidding.   Just making a joke based on an old saying.  It’s my goto Dad joke.  “Did you leave a tip?  Sure, I told the waiter not to go out with a wet head.”

    That's not quite accurate.

If Carr were playing well and the Raiders viewed him as their QB of the present and future, the team wouldn't be benching him, regardless of any financial considerations.

I think it is.  Yes, if  Carr was playing well and this team was 9-6 he would likely be playing this week and the following.

But since the above is not true, they are sitting him to avoid a $40M hit.

No one with a straight face can say Stidham gives them a better chance to win.
