Alex Smith played as well last season as he always does, and ended up getting traded anyway. Keenum played his best football every last year and was not resigned. It's not unprecedented for a team to let a QB go who's playing good football. I assume they would either trade him or release him depending on Allen's progress.

One thing is apparent ... Ben isn’t on the TB12 diet
I think he's getting a steady diet of Arby's Beef n Cheddar and the Roethlisburger special at Primanti's sandwiches.

I watch hard knocks every year so it really doesn't matter who they have this season. I'd rather not have the Bills on because I think it would be a distraction I'm glad they have the opportunity to say no.

I voted accuracy but I believe it is actually a correctable issue for him with mechanics and fundamental work also WRs who can actually catch helps too.
The high football IQ is encouraging, the arm is encouraging, the senior bowl tape is encouraging, running a pro style offense with protections called out at the line is encouraging.

Peterman can definitely run RPO's. McCarron isn't terribly immobile either.
We'll see what Daboll does, hopefully soon. I remember Peterman running last year, and then getting knocked out of the game.

I'm interested to see how many RPO's they run and the complexity of them. He's accurate over the middle when he's in rhythm. Freeze the LB's and let him hit those quick slants. If the slant isn't open, chuck it to one of the outside receivers running a go.
One thing I'm curious about is his ability/willingness to check down. In college you don't see him do it very often. With Shady, check downs can lead to big plays and I think that's a weapon that could help him a lot. I think they should start with a bunch of plays that are 2-3 reads top and then check down. They need to get him to speed up with progressions a little bit and learn to utilize Shady in the pass game when he isn't the primary target.
What is interesting about Allen is they might use RPOs for him, but they will never run them for McCarron/Peterman, neither is much of a mobile QB. So you might see an entirely different offense for Allen than you saw with McCarron.

They are banking on "overhaul the engine and he'll run for another 3 years" by which time they hope either Webb, Lauletta, or the guy they draft next year pulls a Cousins.
They may be wrong, but they're the ones who had the play calls and all-22 to power-scrutinize.
Well, the Patriots have been drafting Brady's replacement for years now and he just keeps playing. I think at most you want your developmental QB to sit a year, so i think if they took Rosen/Darnold/Allen they're looking at a minimum of 2 years behind Eli, doesn't really help them win now. I think they will draft one next year, and he'll sit a year.

I wouldn't call Sam Bradford a failure. Or say he didn't amount to anything. He's successfully grifted over 100 million dollars from NFL teams in return for barely anything resembling production. He's been one of the biggest success stories in the NFL from a business standpoint. He's the NFL equivalent of Bitcoin.

I think the biggest question is - Are the Bills going to find a coach to work on refining and enhancing Allen's techniques OR are they just going to try to work around him flaws and all.
PLEASE - for the love of GOD - bring in a coach to help Allen work on him footwork etc. ex: Jordan Palmer. DaBoll has his plate FULL just coming up with a playbook and our QB coach ????
Allen has been working with Palmer and to my knowledge Palmer doesn't want to sign with a team he wants to do his independent thing. And from what i have read he has been refining his mechanics. Now is that something that really you need a QB coach or mechanics coach for? If Allen knows what he needs to work on he needs to take ownership of that and do the work himself. Mechanics and fundamentals are just like Bruce Arians said in his interview with John Murphy, you have to spend 20 minutes a day working on fundamentals, like hitting golf balls at a driving range.
Allen needs to do the work.

the only thing this team had going for it last year was the picks....and that was without a pass rush.
i also expect to see at least twice as many passing yards. either way, we can't possibly underachieve from last year.
i think we will be one of the most improved teams in the league.
i for one am very excited and believe in a.j. at least we will get twice as much production from the passing game...which has not been able to establish timing routes and rhythm since orton.
if we can get to the end of october 500 or better, we have a good chance to go on quite a winning streak the 2nd half especially since most are at home.
let's say we lose...balt. , la , gb , minny and ne twice...the rest of the games should be w's. if we steal 2 of those 6, we will command a wildcard. i am expecting no less than 10-6.
That's optimistic, but not out of the question. The tough part of that equation is if McCarron is playing well enough but we're not winning do you make the switch to the rookie at the end of october? if you do, essentially you are giving up on the season and using it as a developmental one for Allen. I don't know if they are committed to winning in 2018 or committed to Allen's development in 2018 because I don't believe you can do both.
Philly was committed to Wentz's development his rookie year and went 7-9

I don't think so. One of the most inexperienced situations in the NFL but McCarron has been in the league a while, and Peterman has started multiple games. Miami has no one behind Tannehill, who may or may not be fully healed. The Jaguars have no one behind Bortles, who isn't spectacular in any kind of way. Mahomes has started one game. And IMO he didn't do enough to warrant shipping Alex Smith off, who was a proven QB.
I don't see any of those situations being much better if any better than Buffalo.

This may be a better team than we fielded in 2017 but we may have a worse record. It happens. And if we do lose more games than we did last year, but i see progress especially at QB, i'll still be encouraged. Knowing we have all our 2019 draft picks in addition to some 80 million in cap space to make a serious run in 2019. But i'm not writing off 2018 just yet, we have a veteran QB, we have an improved defense. Just need to add some depth and talent to the Oline and the WRs.

I liked it, saw it Saturday. Have to assume that this is the one timeline that Dr Strange saw where they can win, he said this was the only way as he was fading out. Just not sure how they bring it all back around. Also wondering if Hulk is now afraid to fight or just won't fight anyone but Thanos.

Everyone going WR/OL/LB. so I'm going to say we add a corner.

This is kind of BS. The reason Vegas is listing Allen as the favorite to start the most games is because of the QB’s on the Bills. There’s no established veteran starter:
NYJ - McCown
CLE - Tyrod
ARI - Bradford
BAL - Flacco
Vegas believes there’s a better chance that Allen unseats McCarron and Peterman.
How does Vegas not think Bradford is gone by week 3 though? Even if Allen sits for say 8 games, Rosen will be playing well before that. If I were the GM of the Cardinals, I'd have all my mats thrown out TODAY! Those things will end a career, and Bradford has made enough money.

Knowing it's the Jets, they'll probably cut the center.

That was my point, he didn't believe they were going to take him so he made an outrageous bet, just like Griffin winning DROY is an outrageous bet.
well if you want to eat dog poop that's your business. I think if Griffin puts up anything close to decent numbers they'll have him in the running just because it's good press for the NFL. you don't agree, that's fine.

um, no. i'll make whatever bet you want to make, like the guy on Cleveland radio who said he would eat horse poop if they selected Mayfield no.1.....ain't gonna happen
But Mayfield was drafted no 1.....

At least you're open to letting him earn it. Some have already decided they want him to fail.
