Nope. They don't always... for sure.

    That doesn't mean they're wrong.

The collective media has been extremely critical about Allen in the lead up to the draft and the months afterwards...

They are either wrong then or wrong now when they are praising him after two preseason outings..

Either way I take their comments with a grain of salt..

He had 3 fumbles...but yeah...on pace for 43 TD.....really interesting to see how that plays out......he had 5 TD throwing VS KC last year....but basically 1 (or maybe 2) of those happend when it was still a game....3 for sure were just garbage time stat padding type of scores...in their game against the Titans..already leading 30-14 in the 4th Q...he threw 3 more TD....They all count..but I'm not sure the stat sheet tells the whole story. (as it often doesn't for many players, situations and games.)

    1 fumble lost..

He also scored 2 Rushing TD's which I didn't include originally so if we are counting fumbles then we should counting Rushing TDs as well so lets say 47 TD's total.

Every good QB ( and a few bad ones) stats would be padded with "garbage time" TD's and yards over the course of a season..

I would suggest if Mahomes or Allen produce a similar result over the course of this year we would be splooging...

You may be entirely right or wrong about Mahomes, Garrapolo...etc....I do kind of smirk at the love DeSahun Watson gets.....he put up some big TD numbers....and good for him...but he was also on pace for 30 Turnovers....given that a good portion of his his long TD plays were of the catch and run variety and not so much the long awesome throw type...he might not seem so awesome.....agian....we'll have to wait and see...but it's as if people discount the fact he had so many turnovers...

Looks like he had 8 ints and 1 fumble in 7 games so is that 20 Turnovers a season?

Also he was on pace for 43 TD's..

Id take that for a rookie season...

I disagree.  I see a lot of commentary on this message board pointing to flaws in Allen.  What I think you're confusing here is that a lot of people who didn't care for the Josh Allen pick now recognize that ship has sailed, our FO has made their choice and hitched their wagon to him.  So we're hoping for the best.

Hoping for the best in a done-deal is not the same as "wipe away anything bad that was reported", but to Absolutists it apparently looks that way.

    Agree 100%..

I must admit when watching the draft I felt like I was punched in the gut when Allen’s name was announced..

I moved on when they drafted Edmunds and later Phillips and did a bit more research on Allen. I tried to look at if from an optimistic viewpoint as they have made the call - JA is the guy they have picked so I want him to succeed..

It won’t bring me any satisfaction if he is a bust and my original judgment turns out being correct..

Isnt supporting a football team supposed to be fun and something you want to enjoy?

If you can’t have optimism and hope for the future at this time of the year then I don’t know why you would bother following the team...

It also goes to show that your pick could be rated as an A by all the prognosticators and be a bust. I am not willing to write Shaq of just because 2-3 days into training camp he isn't dominating, in 10 games last season Shaq had 4 sacks that is roughly 6.5 if he played the entire 16 games, which for a player in his second year coming off of an injury isn't that bad. Toss in the fact that he graded out decently against the run and I think you can have some hope for him.

I think this idea of Shaq being toast at the moment is premature, certainly a make or break camp/pre-season but nothing so far to me indicates he is a goner just yet too early to tell in my opinion.

I completely agree with your first point. It does reinforce that the Draft is a crap shoot a lot of the time..

I also want them to give him this year to turn it around as I don’t think they will get much for him in a trade ( a conditional 6th maybe ?) and I would rather they just persevere and hope he comes good..Not confident at this stage though of him being here in 2019..
