A few people were supportive of the pick…..one guy who still posts here wanted to actually take him in the first … Of course most wanted Creed Humphrey who went a pick or two later to KC..

I hated that pick at the time… said so in the draft thread here .. I do recall Beane saying that he was “ sticking out” on their board… They got that one wrong…

They picked Basham at the end of the 2nd …I wonder if they had a first round grade on him?

The point about other holes is true … but not relevant to this thread discussion… There has always been an expectation that they would upgrade the WRs these past few months… barely anyone suggested Hopkins was going to be part of that solution until the last two weeks… Im confident that a solution will be found still… although Beane will really need to be multi tasking over the remainder of the off season..

Two weeks ago, no one thought Hopkins was coming here ….don’t remember a lot of panic then
