  1. Open and honest discussions? That seems like a hill too big to take! It's certainly too big in elementary and middle schools. At that level it's instruction, not discussion. I think we'd need to be pretty careful even in high school. I've taken college level courses where open and honest discussion has been limited, if not allowed. The teachers / professors have to be some special kinda leader to provide that sort of environment for his/her students. You and I can name those that did. But they're the exception rather than the rule.
  2. Yes, yes we are
  3. Yeah, kinda what I'm saying. There are exceptions, of course. CRT began at the collegiate level originally. Philosophy has it's place and I'd argue includes religious studies. But yeah, let's "ban" some of these books in elementary and middle schools. You make sure they get added to the list!
  4. This could significantly change the education landscape across the US.
  5. Evolution is OK. But I'm gonna hold the line at algebra The first amendment shouldn't be used to allow teachers to discuss any dang thing they want, right? They are our employees. We hire them to teach our children. We determine what they teach our children. A lot of this is starting in the classroom and that is not the proper place for it.
  6. How do I say this? I know most of the docs in my community too. Many docs in my community have very high IQs, yet very low EQs. Very few docs serve on NFP boards, serve in civic groups, get active in business groups such as a Chamber of Commerce, volunteer as churches, etc. They are pretty standoffish at youth athletic events. If they didn't have spouses that get involved in the community, we'd see very few ever, out in public. The administration at hospitals or from clinics generally who we hear our "public" information from. Those are PSAs, right? It is not one-on-care, nor is it meant to be.
  7. You must have different docs in your community than I have in the communities I've live in. Just saying
  8. reality does come with some guardrails
  9. Oops! The kiddos choir did in fact get the necessary approval. Sheesh
  10. I have respect for anyone and everyone until they expect me to disregard truth (accept their untruth). Me refusing to disregard truth isn't disrespect.
  11. Perhaps permission wasn't obtained from the proper folks. This article claims permission was granted from their state's representatives William Timmons and Joe Wilson a well as from Speaker McCarthy's office. It also sounds like a call was later made to McCarthy's office to confirm authorization. https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/06/02/exclusive-childrens-choir-director-responds-capitol-police-claim-they-did-not-stop-kids-singing-national-anthem/
  12. is now a lesbian. Wait! What?
  13. You don't think the door is closing on Trump then?
  14. It might be more accurate to say that targeting children is the thing that parents are upset about. It doesn't matter to most what else trans do.
  15. I see it differently. The pride movement is becoming (or has already become) the vehicle causing your struggle in understanding. One can be fully accepting of gays and not accepting of hurting women, gays and kids, which the trans movement does. Yet they're all flying under the same flag
  16. Too many letters in the movement, perhaps? I don't know if trans & queers (as opposed to gay) are hijacking the movement or hitching up onto the movement. I don't see the hypocrisy in calling out one or two of the letters. I don't know everything about Walsh but what I've seen is (1) don't expect me to call a man a woman (includes defending women sports) and (2) I will fight you to the death over hurting kiddos. Does the Pride Flag represent (1) & (2) above? If it does, I suppose you find me hypocritical too, because I think I agree with him on both, especially pt (2).
  17. Haha, you putting people in boxes. The people were being people. Dems were for same sex marriage before they weren't, just a short time ago. I had friends growing up that are gay. No one even knew they were gay. It didn't matter to anyone. It really didn't. There was nothing to be anti about. It wasn't right wing nutjobs. It was left wingers as much as right wingers, if anything at all. The recent brewha isn't even about being gay, but rather trans, and even more specifically the trans movement moving in on Children. Many gays (I would honestly guess most gays) don't support the trans kid movement. Trans isn't gay. The left tries to tie the two together and that is anti gay. It's anti woman. This trans train the left has jumped on is diminishing both women and the gay population. I'm even starting to see the left attempting to pull race into the trans/gender movement. I just saw recently an attempt by Planned Parenthood to identify with the trans movement. You guys have gone bonkers!~
