Maybe - but Daboll likes trickery!

I think that if Gore is in the game that everyone will expect him to get the ball.

I would go with a two back set and keep feeding Singletary until they forget about Gore.

    Then feed Gore the ball.

Win game first, then worry about Gore's yards

I've seen a lot of Josh Allen talk so far this week about Sundays game.

Not so much talk about Brandon Allen.

Playing on the road again against the Bills D I am puzzled as to how much of a thread he actually poses.

I have absolutely no doubt that the key to a win Sunday is our defense getting a turnover to two.  I think the offenses will have it tough all game.  We'll need the Bill's D to win this game.

you wonder if they have any more trick plays in their arsenal. Their defense is till pretty stout. I think we'll come out ahead by ten. I'll say Bills 23 - 13.

I don't mind field goals but it sure feels like we have to settle on too many attempts.  I'd like to convert one or two of those attempts into TDs down the stretch.  Reduce the number of times we stall after crossing mid field.  Those extra 4/8 pts are huge.

  4. Josh is having some fun regarding it called the Border War (Wyo vs Colorado State).  Mike Klis' twitter has some of ii, with much appreciation.   We love us some Josh in Wyoming!

A journalist in Denver put this tweet out the other day asking fans whether they would still draft Bradley Chubb over Josh Allen in the 2018 draft.

As you can imagine this trigger a lot of responses.  For the most part it was mixed but overall  a lot of fans actually said that they would take Josh Allen over Bradley Chubb.

Of course, you get the usually Twitter crowd trying to quantify why he Allen isn’t good.

Overall a lot of them seem to be down on Chubb and are concerned about the QB position.   One fan called Chubb “an OLB with a bum knee” ?

Id say it’s about 60-40 Allen over Chubb based on those responses

Elway followed Josh around a lot his junior year at UW.  Denver was one of the teams that I didn't want Josh ending up at.

If it was just speed? John Brown is way faster than Diggs...dude can blow the top off a defense...I mean his nickname is Smoke after all...as in vapor trail...Allen just hasn't been able to hit the deep shot...

Why do you think Brown has so much success on these comebacks and outs? Because the DB is terrified of getting beat deep and gives him a lot of cushion.

FYI Brown ran a 4.3 at the combine and Diggs a 4.46...

I guess I stand corrected.  Perhaps it's the routes the Vikes use vs what the Bills use?  Most likely, it's simply pure ignorance on my part :)

That’s what it reads like to me. I’ll give him that Josh doesn’t have Cam’s resume yet. He may never get an MVP or take his team to the Super Bowl like Cam either. But you can’t deny Josh’s success as a runner in this league so far historically. To me the designed runs are for the birds with him outside the redzone. Certainly, he can do it, but Josh will really punish you on non designed scrambles and inside the red zone.

Red Zone or QB sneak with a yard or less to go.   These should be the only designed runs called for Josh.  His most exciting runs are when he's scrambling.

Im not speaking to you specifically on this, rather your point that others have made regarding JA’s ranking in 2019, being due to a bad supporting cast.

This years WR and OL are exponentially better than last years. If supporting cast is what’s holding him back, at what point is supporting cast also responsible for his improvements? Honest question.

Oh I totally agree with you.  My point, which I just stated in another response, is that a QBs stats would improve simply by improving the talent around him.

Regarding your point about the supporting cast around Josh being exponentially better than it was last year, I'm not sure I agree.  Perhaps because last year's cast was pretty weak.  I love Brown but I'm not sure he's a #1 receiver, relative to other #1s in the league.  He's certainly a very good #2.  I think this O has a ton of potential.  Overall, they are still below the NFL average in my opinion.

Okay, that's fine, but what if the Bills make it into the playoffs at 10-6 and Allen plays like he did against Miami 2 or 3 more times against teams like the Broncos, Steelers and Jets but doesn't play nearly that well against the Patriots, Cowboys, and Ravens?

Or what if he has 1 game like he did against Miami vs. the Patriots, Cowboys or Ravens and we win that game, but then also has another game like the game he played against the Patriots and we lose?

At some point I think people can just acknowledge that Allen is an improving QB and that while we scrutinize his play on a week by week basis, he's going to have bad games even if he elevates himself into a top 10 QB.

Every single QB in the NFL has their bad games.

Considering he started 11 games last year but didn't finish the Texans game, maybe this is a good checkpoint:

    QB Passing attempts

    2018: 30th

    2019 : 15th

QB passing yards per game minimum 150 attempts

    2018: 35th

    2019: 26th

    QB Passing TDs

    2018: 32nd

    2019: 19th

    QB TD %

    2018: 31st

    2019: 23rd

    QB INT %

    2018: 32nd

    2019: 20th

    QB Completion %

    2018: 33rd

    2019: 30th

    QB YPA

    2018: 32nd

    2019: 24th

    QB ANY/A

    2018: 32nd

    2019: 24th

    Sack %

    2018: 26th

    2019: 19th

    QB Passer Rating

    2018: 32nd

    2019: 23rd

Those are just his passing stats of course.

No, he did not pop into the top half or top 10 of the league. As I know many are aware, I thought he would.

I was wrong and can accept that. Already have a couple bets I'll pay up on.

But we've clearly seen some legitimate improvements in Allen as a passer this offseason. I don't know how anyone could argue against that.

And there's also, of course, his running stats compared with other QBs

    QB rushing yards

    2018: 2nd

    2019: 3rd

    QB rushing TDs

    2018: 1st

    2019: 1st

Many if not all of these stats are meaningless without considering the rest of the offense.  I'm not suggesting Josh is better than the others because in fact he might be worse.

I am not sure I understand the fear of the Broncos other than the usual BBFS.  They are a well deserved 3/7 starting an unheralded (to be kind) rookie QB.  If the Bills cannot take care of this team at home, they do not deserve to be in the playoffs.  This one will not be close.

Seriously, we can't overlook Denver.  I think they were leading at the start of the 4th in four of their losses.

Bills should definitely win this game at home.  The Broncos aren't nearly as talented as the Browns.

Bills go 8-3 with 5 real tests coming to finish the season.  They're going to have to play their best football at a time when they should be.  This is when sleeper teams get hot and make runs.

With all do respect, don't say this

Allen has also been holding onto the ball a long time.  He has more than enough time to get the ball out within 3-4 seconds, typically.

I agree but the question is why?  Are the routes not opening as they should?  Is he missing his receivers on their routes.  Is his O line giving him additional time to improvise?  Is he scrambling to buy himself more time to find an open receiver?

There are both good and bad about this.  One of Josh's strength's is his ability to scramble and buy himself more time to find a receiver.  Let's not be critical of that.  Obviously given this, he needs to do the smart thing with the ball and throw it away if he doesn't find a open receiver.  I think he's gotten better and recognizing that.

I think the Denver roster has good talent on it.  Their weakness is Elway and the coaching staff.

  14. Denver was successful stopping the run, limiting the Vikes to just over 2yds per.   They came averaging 4 1/2 yds per.  Diggs tore up Davontae Harris, who was pulled the last two series.  I'm not sure Brown is as good as Diggs, but Daboll needs to study that and see how Diggs was beating Harris.  If it was just speed, we probably can't replicate that.  I think our TEs could have a big game.

In the same light that I can see the growth in Allen and believe he is a special player, I can no longer deny the fact that Lamar Jackson is a special talent at the QB position either. Yes, he has a great coaching staff from top to bottom that has tailor made the offense around him. Yes, he has a good/great defense to back him up. Yes, he has had some rough patches in the same manner as Josh throwing the ball. But again I watch him yesterday against the Texans and the young man does not disappoint. I keep thinking he will falter, but on the biggest stage he always seems up to the task. He is surely not just another system product ala Kaepernick or Tyrod with Roman at the helm. He can do things on the field that we haven't seen in this league since Michael Vick in his early days with the Falcons and when he is on throwing the ball, he is on. Even on the days he may be off throwing the football he can still beat you with his legs like he did the Seahawks or the Patriots. People keep hyping all of these other match-ups as the next Brady/Manning like Mahomes/Jackson or Watson/Jackson, but I can see the battle being Allen/Jackson for years to come. Hopefully his style of play doesn't lead to injury and it remains to be seen whether this style is also sustainable at this level, but right now he is one of my favorite players to watch in the NFL outside of the Bills every week.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating Lamar and his success.  I want to see every draft pick become that special player.

    I can deny it...

Give the league a year to adjust to his play and exploit his weaknesses. We have seen too many QBs crush it their first year, and then look human the next. Perhaps he is good, perhaps he is great, but I'd give it more time before I crowned him (or anyone with as little NFL playing time as he has had).

Of course, and that is true for any rookie through about year three, and thus the 4yr rookie contract.  Some need more than a year or two to adjust to the NFL.  Others peter out after a couple of years.  Lamar is having a great year.  But on every one of his runs, I find myself waiting for that train to come out of nowhere and flatten the kid.  I've seen that too often.  How many licks can the kid take?  Yet to be determined, right?
