I feel most of it falls on Allen, his passes have been behind or just rockets. He definitely needs to work on his touch with a RB in the flat or a TE that is 6 yards away. I think Knox and Singletary have good hands but are still feeling out Allen.

    Couldn't disagree more

On Singeltary’s drop on the swing pass last week, did anyone else notice how he tried to move his entire body to catch a ball that was coming in at his waistline? Just use your damn hands!! If he had caught it he would have had more acceleration without dropping his hips.

I thought he turned his head up field too soon, taking his eyes off the ball

5th round option only applies for first rounders. Later round picks just need a new contract.

Yeah, sorry, wasn't clear.  I'd like to see the retention by round, either by 5th year option or new contract  I guess my point being that I think the chances of an earlier round player being good and therefore retained or having a higher subsequent value, is greater the earlier a player is drafted.

Just throwing it out there, Would anyone oppose to taking a flier on Tua Tagovailoa if he fell to us in the draft? There's been talk of him possibly sliding because of the injuries he's sustained this season. Just throwing it out there,

Probably at least 10 other priorities to address

Historically whenever someone asks me about betting on a Bills game I say ‘don’t do it’. This year does feel different. I don’t think the Bills lose two in a row. As long as Pitt is favored I think you are ok. O/U is tricky in this one. Lean under. .

I think over is easy money.  But I don't bet on my teams.

Why limit it to 1st rounders?  They are all rookies learning the position with the "steepest learning curve in the NFL", no?

But since you asked:  Noah Fant, Evan Engram, OJ Howard (same draft as Engram) , Tyler Eifert, Zach Ertz (same draft as Eifert).

Then there have been other rookies recently:  George Kittle, Hunter Henry, Travis Kelce, Jordan Reed.

Hard to find good TE's?  Eifert, Ertz, Kelce and Reed were all drafted in the same year!

The problem with Knox is that he was never a pass catcher in college...

I think I heard that Knox never caught a TD in college.  Is that correct?  That's absolutely unbelievable if accurate.

Yes, some QB's don't have the freedom to change protection because coaches don't trust them. Allen has that freedom. That doesn't change the fact the center can't see what the QB sees because his head is down.

Allen has spoken about making the protection calls. He has that responsibility.

Morse's head is up when Allen is making the protection calls.  I'm not sure what you're getting at with this comment.

I blame his OC more. Allen was getting destroyed by the blitz and Dabbol did not make a single adjustment to help his young QB out...

where were the quick slants, jet sweeps, bootlegs , screens. all he did was call that stupid WR bubble screen that the ravens sniffed out all day long. he called it again on the final drive of the game which made me want to throw my tv out the window.

Quite a few young guys that hopefully review film study the tape and learn a lot from yesterday's game.  Their growth and response is more important than their play yesterday.

It would also be helpful if Allen can throw accurately downfield. If he can't , might not matter too much who our #1 WR is. There is a huge chunk of the defensive backfield that might not worry the defense too much. That's a problem.

    So we don't need WRs?

    So what would you draft/sign?

An idea seeing as how so many bad calls are unable be challenged if you lose 1 of 2 challenges. My idea is simple, if you win the challenge you still have 2 challenges left if you lose goes to 1 and lose a time out. (Or if you have 1 you still have 1 left if won.).   Seems like a plausible fix that way you always have a challenge left as long as you don’t lose two.

thoughts?  I know it isn’t perfect or solve every issue but a small fix at least.

I'd support the tweak that if a review is flippen obvious, let's reverse the call on the field.  Until that starts happening, all other tweaks just don't matter.

He was running for his life, but on a few of those situations, he didn’t need to be.  The right move was to hang in the pocket and to step up.

If the Ravens blitz and play Cover 0, that means one man is coming unlocked.  Josh needs to recognize where the pressure is coming from and make them pay.

Yea it was a bad OL performance but I think Allen was a bigger letdown.  Regardless, I think the fan base can’t base everything on this one game.  Baltimore has been really good vs opposing QB’s

Their NT was pushing Morse back a few feet all day.  The Raven's DL made our OL look pretty bad.  I've been impressed with the progress of our OL over the past 3 or so games.  The Bill's OL looked like they did our first or second game this year, or dare I say like last year's OL.  They were the most disappointing unit in yesterday's game in my opinion.

It's the old saying, Baltimore decided to make Josh exclusively a pocket passer and he failed.  Failed miserably.  And his receivers failed him too on about 4 or 5 occasions.  And the O-line broke down as well a few times.  So it's on all of them but the QB has the most control to elevate guys up and mask some of the deficiencies.   The Patriots also tried to make him a pocket passer in the game in September and Josh wasn't good.

McDermott keeps saying over and over "we have to learn from it"..  OK, start learning to beat that system!!

In my humble opinion, the times when the pocket didn't break down was the exception yesterday.  The edges were runways straight to our QB.  The offense as a whole just didn't execute.  I'm so frustrated with the blocking on our screens and flat routes.  These are badly needed against blitzes and our WRs and even TEs are constantly missing their blocking assignments.  There was one yesterday where Beas was behind Singletary instead of out in front of him.  The entire scheme on these is missing and missing badly.  If I was an opposing DC, I'd blitz all the time until we get these fixed.

Give the kid a break he also erased a few immediate pressures  by escaping and getting rid of the ball  He missed on several deep passes early that could have swung the game  After that he took a severe beating but hung in there  O line sucked and Daboll continues to call endless route combos that take too much time.  Also the empty set negates the ability to run draws/screens/swing passes to slow down the pass rush  He played poorly but lot of blame to pass around

This is where I am.  Mistakes of teammates in a team sport snowball and impact the performance of all.

My point was more about McDermott’s comments. Coaches/GMs like to go with the tried and true “we are happy with the guy we have”.

I liked Jackson going into that draft and would have been happy had he been the Bills choice, again not to disparage Josh Allen. I had paid more attention to Jackson in college because he is a local kid. I didn’t want the other Josh and had mixed feelings about Mayfield and Darnold.

Read some of the other comments, people are still talking about Wonderlick scores for God sake.

Please don't take this personal, but I have a hard time believing anyone that claims to have known how LJ was going to turn out two years ago.  All the talk was about, and I mean all the talk, was about BM, SD, JA and JR.  The story will most like be different two years from now.

and yet he's ranked above Josh in both QBR and DVOA - so what does that mean for Josh?

The direction each QB is heading currently is significantly different.  Baker came out hot and is faltering whereas Josh seems to be on a course of continued improvement.

Wow, did they ask Allen a lot about Lamar Jackson.

Thought he handled it very very well.

Turns out he attended JuCo with one of Jackson's cousins and spent some time with Lamar off-season.  Said nice things about him.  Got slightly salty (in a good way) when they tried to bait him about how different his path was from Lamar's as the Heisman winner/national spotlight where Allen was from Firebaugh and "Fresno State wasn't even interested in you".  Said "Yeah, but Lamar wasn't annointed "the Guy" and everybody doubted him until he went out and started making some plays, everybody had their doubts and he proved them wrong".  Said that being a guy who's been in the same situation, watching Lamar do that has been awesome to watch.

If some of the press came looking for locker room clippings or trash talk, they went away empty.  Allen took their hoped-for cannon and spiked it very neatly.

    Sean McDermott Presser

McDermott got asked a fair bit about Rivera.  Thought he handled that well too.

Was very complimentary about Lamar Jackson, said he's a fantastic player and they feel good about where Josh is.  Refused to be drawn into anything that came close to discussing whether or not Jackson (or Allen) can pass from the pocket.    Was more wishy washy when asked if mobile QB are the future of the NFL - said it's an exciting time to be around the NFL

I was a bit surprised when the first Q to Josh was about LJ.  Then comes the second question, which again was about Lamar and the Raven's offense.  I quit watching after that.  I understand these questions to McD or one of the Bill's defensive staff/players.  But to our QB, or any other offensive guy?  Come on press.
