He means relative to this level of play.
You can argue none of the mentioned names were high on athletic talent by NFL standards.
As compared to someone like Michael Vick, who has athletic talent off the charts...but who also was a QB I would never want on the Bills.
I was comparing their athleticism to mine. Sorry
Really, they are all professional athletes. One throws better, one runs better, one is stronger, one is faster. Some of these discussions get kinda wonky at times.

Comparing stats is a losing battle, regardless of which side you are on.
At the end of the day, JA has demonstrated the ability to read defenses and make high difficulty throws. That's the difference between him and EJ, Sanchez, or whoever else you want to point to. JA is making throws those guys couldn't dream of even attempting. Is he top 10 right now? No. Is he bottom 10? No.
His 4th quarter drives to win games is pretty damn hard to beat.

Athleticism has next to nothing to do with predicting a quarterback's success.
Brady, Brees, Montana, Manning, etc, none of these guys brought a lot to the table in terms of athleticism.
Wut?
All of them are professional athletes.

As I said before the week 4 matchup: work the backs and TEs. NE****** doesn't have the speed at LB to compete with Devin, Yeldon, and Knox...and they're going to commit to stopping Brown, Beasley, and Josh's running.
Basically, you have to take what any given team is giving you.

So do I.
As I said yesterday though, only someone who completely lacks objectivity would think the defense hasn't overwhelmingly been responsible for our wins.
Our offense and passing game by any metric you can look at is bottom 10 in the NFL.
Our defense on the other hand is truly exceptional. Them allowing under 16 points per game is the overwhelming reason we're 10-4 right now.
This was true last year. The offense has improved this year.

2 things I believe Allen struggles at are selling screen and playaction. I think he's the main reason we do neither one very well.
In the Ravens game there was a screen that Singletary advertised the whole way which didn't go anywhere. This is something these young uns will need to learn and develop better.

I saw a tweat, I think from Field Yates, that said the Bills won 10 games for the first time since '99, snapping the NFL's longest streak without double digit wins. I wonder who holds that record now?

Was about to post the same. He's one of the most generous people in WNY. I've lost count how often he would buy out unsold tickets just to beat the blackout. He gets a pass. He gets dozens of passes.
Someone should invite the guy to their tailgate in two weeks. Welcome a long time supporter back to the fold.

Wouldn’t shock me and it again will be infuriating to watch...,He’s basically had the same approach since he arrived here no matter the opponent.
Gosh, I would hope not. You're probably right!

The offense also forfeited with like 8 minutes left in the game.... that strategy worked against Duck Hodges, it won’t work in the playoffs against a Watson or Mahomes.
Agree. The obvious question is would McD and Daboll shut the offense down with 8 minutes left in a game vs. Watson or Mahomes?

Do you think Patrick Mahomes is a good QB?
.....because he throws about 5 of those per game.
It's not just Mahomes. It's everyone, everywhere, all the time. Many a PI is a result of throws like this. It's part of the gameplan.

Think the Bills will absolutely light up NE on Saturday.
For the past 3 games, Bills have been feeling the pressure of making the playoffs - some tentative play, some missed opportunities, etc. -- but overall great wins and now playoff bound.
All that pressure is now gone - and Bills are also in a celebration mode, want to have a chance at the division, and also to continue to showcase their progress on the national stage, and a bit of payback from the earlier game this year.
Add all that up and I think NE is toast - and think this also becomes that truly "breakout" game for Josh -
Going to be fun to watch - Go Bills!
Boy, wouldn't that be a nice way to put a bow on this season. Couldn't think of a better way to pass the AFC East torch to the new leader.

What is the scale though? Do we take into account the Defense he's facing when grading? If so, B.
If not, C-.
This is the problem with these "grade Allen" threads. We don't know the game plan, we don't know Daboll's calls, we don't know Josh's audibles, we don't know whether the receivers ran the right routes, we don't know if the line executed their protections, we don't know whether Josh picked up the right takeout for dinner on his way home from the game.
People are grading him based on their perceptions or biased lens of their expectations. This is akin to scoring Josh on a math test when he was taking a chemistry test. The coaching staff are the ones that wrote the test and the only ones qualified to grade. Sure, we have the "eye test" and that is what makes a thread like this fun, at times. But man, we all need to maintain a better perspective of responsibilities and accountabilities.

A is very generous. I’d give him a B. Bad ball to Beasley resulting in a TO in a grind out game was not great.
As I watched our defensive backs jump into the air, put both hands on the ball, control it and bring it down for an interception I thought, why can't Beas do that? Anyone else?
9 hours ago, KD in CA said:That's crazy. The defense gets an A. Allen gets a C+.
The pick was all on him and wasn't his only bad throw of the night. Brown saved him on back to back deep throws, once catching it and once preventing a pick.
So because our WR does EXACTLY what they are suppose to do; does EXACTLY what they are being paid millions to do? Really?

If you lined up all of the starting QBs on the playground and did a pick 'em, I think Josh wold go before 20th.
