Week 17: NJ Jets at Buffalo Bills PostGame
dakrider replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This game basically just reinforced how pitiful the Bills offense actually is, regardless of who's playing out there. From play calling to execution to mistakes there's something on every possession that prevents this team from consistently scoring. -
Week 17: NJ Jets at Buffalo Bills PostGame

Barkley really made the Bills offense hum out there huh! 6 whole points!~ 51% passing and 2 ints. -
I think if given a chance to repeat, Cleveland, NY and Buffalo would still all take Mayfield, Darnold and Allen, respectively. I don't think none of these teams regret their QB choice. Arizona obviously would not taken Rosen though, I don't know if they would rather have Jackson now or not? The other big difference would be Jackson would not have fallen to Baltimore as someone would have taken him. Indy would likely have grabbed him at #6 knowing what they know now.

LOL... maybe half of these guys tops.

Wins are the only stat that really matters. There's several losing teams that have QB's with great stats. Completion percentage is just a simple stat. Allen is never going to put up the high comp.%, I thought most on here knew that already? Bills also don't run near as many of the screen type passes and the real short throws like some teams do many times a game. Also, Allen is not prone to throw a 3 yard pass on 3rd and 9 and more often than not goes for the first down. These 2 things alone account for 4-5 passes every game. And then you can also put in some dropped balls and plays where the receiver simply cannot beat his man to get the ball. Allen himself certainly needs to improve his game, especially the beginning of games. Part of that also imo, is the Bills offense where so many drives, especially at start of games are runs on 1st and 2nd down and then its 3rd and 4 or 3rd and 8 or something and then the defense can tee off on the pass play. If the Bills could start off with a more pass / run mix in games instead of "establishing the run". But Allen also needs to come out more sharp in games too. I predict the playoff game (Houston) will be a very tight low scoring game and it will take big plays at key times, not completion %, to win the game.

There were several negatives in this game for the Bills. I was surprised at how poorly they tackled in this game, some blatant missed tackles which is not characteristic of this team. The offense once again started out of the gate seemingly unprepared and did not execute well at all for most of the first half, and then got stymied again in the second half. Still, they managed to make a very close game of it. The thing is its clear the Bills did not play their best game yet still managed to be a play away from a tie at least. I think the Patriots did play their best game, they made a lot of little plays and were effective in most facets of the game. Really the surprising thing on this game is Patriots didn't score more. if you looked at the TOP and stats this game almost seemed like it was lopsided, However once the Bills DO play their good full game, which we haven't seen much of, they may yet surprise.

The expectations of too many fans are out of whack

This last month I think will bode well for the Bills in the playoffs. They've basically played 4 playoff type of games here in a row now and they've gone 2-2 in those games with the 2 losses coming down to last minute endzone plays. Teams have to learn how to win, its not often teams just win from nothing and the Bills are getting closer and closer. I don't they have all the ingredients right now to go deep in the playoffs but they are probably the only team that may have a chance to knock off the Ravens in the AFC this year. Hard to imagine right now but it is still a possibility. And the Patriots reign is ending here in another couple weeks and its not coming back. -
Move over, Brady. Phillips Rivers may actually be the GOAT.
dakrider replied to SoTier's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, guys like Rivers, Dak Prescott, Tony Romo, Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins, etc. are all very good quarterbacks who could put up great numbers year after year but cannot elevate their team to win the big games. Their teams always fade in the playoffs. -
I look for the Pats to completely sell out in rushing Josh Allen. Bills better be prepared for the blitz all game long and Allen better not stand in pocket and ignore his blind side or he's going to get smashed. This game will be decided on Bills first 2 plays. If they run on first and second down and don't get more than 5 yards total, then Daboll is just strutting out his regular old conservative game plan that NE already knows and its just going to put the Bills in 3rd and long all day.

Josh Allen - week FIFTEEN report card
dakrider replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
when they showed the picture of Allen and how small all his receivers are - his targets are quite small that he has to throw to. Most of the time these guys are not going to be able to jump up and get those balls, they have to be thrown into their small windows to make the catch. The other thing is too the smaller receivers are easier to knock of their routes or beat their defender. -
This is what many NFL playoff games look like. Both teams fighting and scratching to the end. This game a few big plays made the difference and the Bills made the big plays on offense and defense. I understand that most Bills fans don't know what a playoff type of win is, but this was one. Yes they are sometimes a little ugly.

Josh Allen - week FIFTEEN report card
dakrider replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say a B. JA didn't play badly and made the huge plays when it counted. He could have played better but also didn't throw 4 interceptions, and his 1 int was off the hands of his receiver. -
Week 15: Bills at Steelers on SNF
dakrider replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills can't beat the Steelers with their 3rd string qb, then won't bode well for winning any playoff games. -
The big thing for Josh, and the Bills offense both is they cannot keep coming out looking like their not ready to play in the first quarter of games. They need to come out more fired up and have more consistency to start games. Josh also got a little complacent these last few weeks with his pass protection too, the coaches did not prep him very well for keeping track of his pass blocking in this game and he was completely blind-sided on some of those. The coaching staff should have known they would be blitzing and bringing a heavy rush. At the end of the Ravens game, it seemed like everyone was focused on that last play. But the Bills lost the game in the first half when they couldn't take advantage of good field position a couple of times and had to settle for field goals. Beating one of the best teams in the league is a huge obstacle and you can't expect to do it only playing for half a game and getting down and then try to come back. And the last thing is the Bills offense started out this game very predictable as well. Its like, oh we're the bills so we will run these plays regardless who we play.

The biggest improvements with Josh Allen are really with trusting the offensive game plan and trusting his other players. Its not all just on him to make every play. His Sr. year in college and much of last year in the NFL - he was trying to do to much and that won't work in the NFL where your going against 11 other pro football players. He got thrown into the fire a little to early but that did help him with other things such as getting used to the speed of the game and timing. But really, how many nfl qb's get thrown into a situation without a real nfl qb to learn from and then given several below average receivers to work with. I think Josh Allen has only begun to be an NFL quarterback.
-
This game I would be most concerned with Bills getting down early like 17-3 or something and then getting out of their offensive gameplan and start having Allen try to do to much. If they get way down like over 21 points then they definitely will have to do more but hopefully they can keep Singletary running plays and sustain some drives.

How did we lose to the Eagles?
dakrider replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wentz had a steller game overall against Dolphins, 310 yards and 3 TD's before the final play which was a hail mary pass. Eagles didn't lose because of Wentz. -
Dak Prescott had 300+ yards game!
dakrider replied to prissythecat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He may get that in some future games, Bills may end up going for more plays inside the 35 since FG's aren't so much a given anymore. -

The thing is Allen is much more efficient that most give him credit for. He hasn't really needed 300 yards.
