  1. The Washington Redskins have a long and proud history imo. The name wasn't meant to be disparaging, they wouldn't name their own team something they thought was nasty or mean. But it isn't a good name, it wouldn't be considered acceptable to call American Indians as Redskins. Right? Not now or before really. So regardless if the name wasn't meant to be disparaging, it still is when taken by itself. Really the the bad thing about changing a team name/mascot is they usually end up picking something nobody is really happy with. Bullets to Wizards? meh.
  2. Having a song played before the National Anthem is fine, calling it the Black National Anthem though just seems wrong. Tomorrow is Independence Day for all Americans as well.
  3. Unless things get much better in next 4 weeks, I think preseason games could be fanless and who knows after that.
  4. I just think the country, which is represented by the US flag has been and overwhelming positive force for income and racial inequality over time and its misguided to throw that away. Most people would like to see things continually improved but if the answer is to basically not support the flag, or the nat'l anthem and basically the country as a whole then it will just cause the rift to become larger over time. Eventually they'll call anyone who actively supports the flag as racists, heck they already do.
  5. Allen's 2 years under his belt with a suspect offense if really going to help him this year. Bills should have a good running game and a good receiver corps for the first time in years. I don't think any QB would have had significantly better stats for Bills than Allen did. This team just had to many offensive weaknesses. I really think the 2020 Bills offense isn't even going to resemble the last 2 years.
  6. Exactly. There's a few passes every game where the receiver has a decent chance to get the ball but is beaten by their defender and the Bills receivers are on the low end of the scale of beating their defenders for balls. If Josh can make 1 better throw a game, and his receivers have .5 less drops per game along with receivers actively beating out their defender .5 passes per game - there you easily have your 2 more catches per game. Obviously statistics don't usually line up evenly but it is not a stretch to think Josh can improve his completion rate several percentage points.
  7. Bills really need to start out 4-0 to have a great season imo. 10-6 or better should be very achievable but it is a tough schedule overall, and I don't expect the Jets and Dolphins to be quite as inept this year. The Steelers, Raiders, Chargers, Broncos, Cards and Rams aren't considered elite teams either. So thats 10 very winnable games against mostly average teams.
  8. Its not just the number of drops, its also the number of contested catches that the good NFL receivers make, Bills did not have many of those at all. Bills receiving corp last 2 years was a glaring weakness. But this year it should be more of a strength. An improved running game, an improved and decent O-line, and a 3rd year Josh Allen - Bills should have a dramatic increase in scoring. An inexperienced Josh walked into a difficult situation with the Bills and took his lumps. Hopefully he will be the better for it this year!
  9. Speak for yourself. I'm taking precautions but am not living an entire year sequestered in my home and that will include going to some events later this year.
  10. I think this was a great trade overall. I remember watching the Vikings-Broncos game last year and thinking how great would it be if the Bills and Josh Allen had a receiver like Diggs! Diggs gets much more separation and has a much bigger window than most receivers out there. Just compare to Beasley who has a much smaller window, can't jump up for balls nor burn past defenders. Great against the zone but not so much man to man. Diggs has all of that and can beat his defender one on one. Had this been a couple years ago and the Bills gave up all those draft choices, then this may not have been that great a deal. But now - it is a great deal. Bills are primed to win now and don't worry about 2-3 years from now, worry about that later.
  11. Regarding receivers - I don't think the Bills have poor receivers, but they just don't have the dynamic playmaking receivers many good teams have. I've seen Russell Wilson throw up many 50-50 balls and seemingly uncatchable passes that his receivers make a great catch. Many teams also have outstanding tight ends that manage to get open and catch a lot of balls. Bills are deficient in all these areas. Bills need more production from their tight ends, they need their receivers to make plays and they also need a bigger rb to supplement Singletary. You only need a couple of these big plays a game. Bills only really had about 1-2 bad games this year and most of their losses - 1 or 2 big plays would have made the difference. For me comparing quarterbacks is less to do with stats and more to do with what some of these other qb's (like Wilson or Garappolo) are doing and how their doing it. Looking at stats is just too misleading. Philip Rivers, Jameis Winston, Jared Goff, Matt Ryan, Derek Carr ... all had relatively good stats this year but they don't really propel their teams. Some of them look good between the 20's, some of them just sling the ball all over and have to many turnovers, and some just make critical mistakes. Stats are a fair benchmark but they just don't tell the story.
  12. I still would call this a drop but this one would have been a great catch. It certainly would not have been a routine catch.
  13. That throw to Brown was absolutely perfect. Right on the sideline IN BOUNDS. Brown caught the ball well inside the sideline and he simply did not bother to try and drag his foot either because he lost his awareness he was next to the sideline or he simply didn't want to fall down. The sad thing was he didn't even attempt to get his foot down. ANY NFL receiver should be able to make THAT catch and get their feet down 100% of the time. Its ludicrous to even pretend that was Allen's fault there. The other throw to Brown where he went out of bounds was on him as well. Receivers know better that they cannot go out of bounds and only times that should ever happen is if they get knocked out of bounds by the defender. These are some reasons Brown was let go by Baltimore. And also, one reason Roby didn't intercept that pass was because Josh doesn't float this passes out there like a lot of QB's do. That same pass from Barkley would have been a easy pick 6.
  14. One of many plays where 1 player or the other didn't execute or block.
  15. That was the game, I was thinking how those plays would come back to haunt them.
  16. Bills finally able to run a good screen pass but didn't matter at the end.
  17. Outside of about 3-4 plays by Singletary, ALLEN was the only other player on offense to even show up for this game! Defense giving up two 2-point conversions is inexcusable. Bills made several of the same mistakes they have made all season long. Poor play calling with a lead, receivers not making plays, huge mistakes/penalties and defense giving up some huge plays or just coming up short of making big plays. Saying they lost because Allen ALMOST threw a couple interceptions and another fumble is garbage.
  18. Most of the Bills fans deserve Tyrod Taylor. I'm sure the Bills can get him back.
  19. That play didn't hurt the Bills at all. Critique something worth being critical about.
  20. I don't see the Bills ever doing much in the playoffs with Daboll as OC. You don't get conservative only up 2 scores. And Bills giving up TWO 2-point conversions - deserve to lose just for that!
  21. so they lost because of the lateral huh. geezez dude
  22. fkng percentages didn't win or lose the game. did you even watch the game at all??? Who brings up percentages in a OT game. 1 play at several different intervals could have changed this game. not percentages. Buy a damn clue!
  23. that was not a bad block at all. totally bogus call. I'm not sure how they even came up with that call there.
  24. At first glance Watson should be considered a better QB, but I've watched him last couple years and just am not impressed at all and his playoff record is not very good either. Even if the Texans win its almost certain they would lose the next week. I'll take my chances with Josh and at the end of a game would take Allen 100%.
  25. Bills offense really need to come out in the first quarter and look sharp. Offense can't sit back and wait until the end of 2nd qtr to start rolling. Come out and have an effective first drive and also not leave any points out on the field. Don't take the sack on 3rd and long inside the 30, not 3rd down dropped passes and then in 2nd half if the Bills get a lead, don't try to sit on the ball when there's still a lot of time left. Bills just need more of a killer instinct instead of the lets keep the game close mentality they seem to run.
