I always look forward to Bill's take on the game and just found out about his illness. Get well soon Bill.

What a great article! For a long time I was pissed at Ralph. I always wanted him to come out and say that he would give a hometown discount or something to assure that the Bills would never leave. I thought he was pretty callous about saying that the Bills would be sold upon his death with no assurances that they would stay here. Back then, I envisioned someday making a trip to piss on his grave for letting the Bills leave. Now, I believe that it was all posturing for the benefit of the league and the other owners. He had the team shackled to Buffalo all along. He just couldn't publicly say it. It really makes sense now and makes me feel terrible for doubting someone who always was committed to a city that was not even his home.

New Stadium Already Being Discussed?
Live&DieBillsFootball replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Erie County taxpayers might be happy to see a Niagara Falls stadium. Erie County is paying over $100 million over the next 10 years towards the Ralph Stadium renovations plus all of their other game day costs that they are responsible for. Is Niagara County willing to pay the local costs of having the Bills in Niagara Falls? Seems like a lot of money to be spread over a much smaller county population. I don't know what the local share of a new stadium will be but it will be a hefty tab for Niagara County. Other counties don't currently share in Erie's expenses, so I doubt that Erie County will have to contribute towards expenses of a Niagara Falls stadium. -
windows 8- anyone care to comment on it?
Live&DieBillsFootball replied to Pete's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I upgraded to Win8 and reverted back to Windows 7 after a couple of weeks. I just didn't see the point of the new interface unless you have a touch screen. One of the first things I installed was Pokki which is a free download which puts a start button on the desktop. In other words, it makes Windows 8 function more like Windows 7. There are a bunch of similar programs around that do the same thing. But if so many people are downloading something to make Windows 8 work more like Windows 7, maybe they should be using Windows 7 instead. To me the apps ran slower than regular desktop programs. You even have to play Solitaire using an app rather than just opening the program from the desktop. Plus you have to sign in with your Microsoft ID in order to play. Once you start a game, it's hard to flip to another program while you are playing. For instance, say you want to listen to music with WinAmp while you play the Solitaire App, it's a hassle to change songs while playing the game. There's probably a way to do it, but none were apparent to me when I used it. Another gripe I had was that until you change your preferences, your pictures, videos, music all open up in the Windows 8 apps and take you back to the Tile screen and the apps open in full-screen. Yes, you can figure out how to open 2 apps at once on your desktop which is great until you remember that in other windows versions you can have unlimited windows open. I also found out that Windows 8 doesn't work with most scanner software. I scan quite a bit using my Brother printer and paperport software but Paperport does not work in Windows 8 or at least it didn't work in late 2012. I found a work around using another software but it was rather clunky. This was probably the main reason that I went back to Windows 7. Also, I have always used the free Avast software for anti-virus. Although it installed fine, it caused my computer to crash several times a day until I finally uninstalled it and used Microsoft Essentials. Unless you have a touchscreen computer, I can't see any compelling reason to use Windows 8. -
Sage, I've also really enjoyed your weekly breakdown of the show! It's going to be hard to investigate Walt if he is truly out. What other evidence can Hank use to prove Walt is Heisenberg? My money is on Hank going after Skylar. She will crack in about 30 seconds. She knows all about the money, Jesse, Saul. I really don't think that Hank would be able to let Walt walk away. It's going to destroy Hank's family, but Walt has done a lot to destroy Hank's life. Chasing Heisenberg has resulted in his being shot and being crippled. He also now knows that Walt got into the accident on purpose when they were going to the laundry. Plus Hank now realizes that the "monster" he has been chasing has been hiding under his nose the whole time. The betrayal has to be immense. My money is on Walt figuring it out before Hank can get to him and grabs what money he can and run. We are already 3 months into year 52 so Walt only has 9 months left to grow his hair back in time for his 52nd birthday breakfast. I also don't think that the m60 is needed for Hank. More likely, he is arming up for Declan and the Phoenix mob or Todd's uncle and the Neo-Nazis.

One strange thing about the episode: The scene where Jesse says he has a problem getting the Methylamine is before Mike is planning to be in on it. Later when Mike is about to kill Lydia, he asks her if she can still get Methylamine. Then he calls Walt and says that he is in. Question: How did Mike know that Walt and Jesse would have a problem getting the Methylamine? If Walt has gone as bad as he appears, would he possibly consider giving Hank a Ricin Cocktail? Hank seems to be the biggest risk that Walt, Jesse and Mike all have going forward. Isn't ricin undetectable? Seems like it would be a good way to get rid of him without the heat of killing a DEA agent. I'm looking forward to Hank chasing them for 14 more episodes, but wouldn't you think the thought might enter Heisenberg's mind?

Chalk Up Another 1 For L.A.
Live&DieBillsFootball replied to T master's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Me too. I once flew to LA just because I felt like kicking someone's ass in a parking lot. -
Thigpen has shown me nothing. If VY has his head on straight this might make 2 guys expendable...Thigpen and Brad Smith. We only ran the wildcat 1-2 plays a game anyways and with the kickoff rules, Smith doesn't seem to justify his salary. This might be a way to keep an extra LB, CB, DL, or OL player on the roster.

Do you know if the Irsay girls know Pegula's daughters? Maybe Indy doesn't want to deal with Ralph, but this must mean that Pegula is buying the Bills very soon and I'm sure that they would deal with Pegula especially if the daughters are friends. Pegula as owner and Manning at QB. We really need to make this happen, Maybe you can pass on the Pegula daughter's twitter account to the Irsay daughters. It would be awesome if this scenario played out. Let me know what you hear from them as I might want to go to Vegas and put money on the Bills to win next years Super Bowl while the odds are still long.

As long as you sold all of the shares by year end, you will be able to deduct the full loss this year. You can always use your turbotax from last year to verify it. Save your return under a new name and enter in the trades as if they were done in 2010 and verify that turbotax records the full loss on the sale. I always use the prior year turbotax to run what-ifs in the new tax year. Just make sure to check for tax law changes for the new year.

Bills Hire Firm for Stadium Facelift
Live&DieBillsFootball replied to CBD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wish the Bills or Erie County would find more uses for the stadium. All that money to use it 8-10 days per year seems like such a waste. A number of other teams have major college programs nearby that use their stadiums. -
What a fantastic episode! I was just about cheering as Hector hit his bell to blow up Gus. Then to see Gus walk out of the room was unreal. And the final reveal of the plant on Walt's patio...just awesome! To me, it almost seemed like a series finale rather than a season finale. They seemed to wrap up so much...killing off Gus, blowing up the lab, Don Eladio's group is gone, Hector is gone. I'm sure they will come up with some brilliant stuff next year but I have no idea what it will be.
