It’s not Josh’s liaison... Josh said he learned things from him leadership wise... and he’s a guy that acts as a liaison for ALL OF THE PLAYERS. I really don’t understand how you created this idea that Josh needs someone to talk to McDermott and Daboll about everything for him. That’s not what it is. Do you understand there are conversations that players have with other players that they won’t necessarily bring up to the coaching staff? I don’t understand why you continue to push back on this when I’ve literally witnessed these things put in place and happen. Coaching staff and players aren’t friends, they have to work together. Staff members are seen as management by players... players are an entirely different party. They don’t always freely discuss everything... but it’s valuable to have guys that build good relationships and are able to bridge the gap between the two parties.

Again, you’re totally not comprehending what is value is. What I’ve been trying to explain to you over and over again is that there’s value in a PLAYER who can be an intermediary between the coaching staff and the players. If he were a coach, that value goes away. He doesn’t have the same pulse on things with the players... why? Because he’s no longer a player... he’s staff... they don’t mix like that... it 100% does not work that way. Again, Josh didn’t just “say nice things about Lee Smith” he wasn’t asked about Lee Smith... he was asked WHO HAS BEEN MOST INFLUENTIAL FOR HIM... to which he responded Lee Smith. He didn’t have to talk about Lee Smith... he chose to talk about Lee Smith and the VALUE he brings to the team. WATCH THE 2 MINUTE CLIP and stop being overwhelmingly ignorant. Dude, it wasn’t a random press conference where they asked about Lee Smith specifically... It was on a podcast where Mark Sanchez (paraphrasing because people can’t spend 2 MINUTES to watch themselves) made the comment that the Bills have the most talented roster in the AFC East. Josh said yeah, I think so, but what’s even better about our team is the camaraderie. We have such good relationships. There are so many great veterans that he’s learned from and do a good job of keeping the locker room together. Sanchez said “What guys do you love the most, or who’s influenced you the most?” To which Josh without hesitation responded Lee Smith... and the went on to talk about him on his own... then when Josh explained the value he brought Sanchez said “You need a guy like that on every team.”

Part of us clinching a playoff spot next week includes Baltimore losing either tonight or Sunday.. night as well root to get it out if the way sooner. Also includes Dolphins loss, Pats loss, and Raiders loss on Sunday.

That’s not what I am saying... when did I ever say Josh can’t approach them? Show me where I said that. You do not understand what a liaison is? I’ll include a definition this time... a person who acts as a link to assist communication or cooperation between groups of people. The coaching staff is a group of people. The players are a group of people. Lee Smith acts as a link to assist communication between groups of people (coaches and players). I mean you keep ignoring the fact I’m speaking from actual experience. I understand the concept is foreign to you because you very clearly have zero experience with it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not real. I suppose you only know what you know, and when you tell yourself that you’re never wrong, you’re unable to learn from folks with different experiences. Again, if you don’t want to listen to me fine, I totally understand. With that being said, I highly encourage you to spend 2 minutes and listen to Josh explain the same concept I am explaining.

Nope, not trying to convince you it’s Lee Evans. That’s not what I am saying at all... I never even said he was specifically a liaison for Josh either. Where did I say layers were created... the coaching staff has certain players they trust to discuss certain topics like the vibe in the locker room, policies put in place and genuine player reaction to those things, guys that are going through a tough time and how best to help them out of it, reinforcement of key concepts and much much more. Again, I’ve been part of these conversations... in the room...having them with professional athletes... they happen. Typically the conversations flow through respected veterans that the locker room and coaching staff both trust. Do you understand what a liaison is? I mean seriously... this isn’t a foreign concept in sports. I’m telling you from first hand experience it happens. I’m telling you that if you watch the clip I embedded for the 2 minutes I specified, Josh will discuss it as well.

They don’t? How many professional sports organizations have you been in? How much time have you spent in a locker room with players? I can almost guarantee it’s less than me and I can certainly guarantee there are in fact certain players that act as liaison between the coaching staff and players... they communicate things to the coaching staff and vice versa. I have been in the room for the conversations, I’ve had those conversations as a staff member with said players. Come on.

Things like this aren’t important apparently. Everyone is supposed to be an All-Pro and make every play always, otherwise they have no value. Relationships aren’t important at all. It’s not like these guys have to respect each other and put their bodies on the line for each other for months on end. Those things don’t require strong relationships and strong leadership. Every team should just be built like the dream team Eagles and the 2020 Bucs... that’s the way to do it. No chemistry, no role players, just a bunch of individual superstars. I know people who know JA personally and I have plenty of stories that I can share with you.... well aware of the type of person he is. Did you watch the interview... I don’t think you’re realizing the context and the difference between the two statements... they’re not the same. He brought up Lee Smith unprompted when asked about who has influenced him the most... as opposed to a reporter asking him about how he feels about a specific played i.e. Spain. It’s not a judgement call, Josh literally spells it out for you.

Great, thanks. Not even close to the dialogue around Lee Smith. Josh was specifically asked a question about Spain, in which he replied. Josh was specifically asked who on the team he thinks is important/loves and without hesitation he replies Lee Smith before anyone else.

Well first you said what Josh said wasn’t anything out of the ordinary... just something he says about everyone... Your argument is that Lee Smith, per Josh Allen is a really important guy in the locker room, works as a liaison between the players and coaching staff but DOESN’T provide football value in a sport that relies heavily on relationships? A sport where camaraderie is something that is significantly important to a winning football team? Lee Smith doesn’t provide any football value at all...

Yeah, sure. Ship him out. Make sure you let Josh Allen know that he’s going too, because Josh raves about Lee Smith and his veteran presence. Talks about how Derek Anderson and Lee Smith are two of the players who have influenced him most in his pro career.

I just watched the Nick Wright segment out of curiosity. He is kind of a buffoon. His main point was the Josh started out hot and then verbatim was “terrible for two months straight.” Which I am going to need clarity on... he had two pretty bad games against the Titans and Chiefs and since then has been perfectly fine. I guess you could throw the Patriots game in there but he wasn’t asked to do much... He then said Baker was better than Josh... which is fine... you can believe that... but what about Baker’s 6 week stretch where he only completed more than 60% of his passes 1 time. Threw 6 touchdowns (5 of which came in one game against the Bengals) to 3 interceptions and threw for less than 150 yards 3 times! Josh’s worst game against KC, which was by far his worst game, was on par with what Baker did for 6 weeks straight.

He hasn’t been a DC for four years. He’s been a HC. He’s on record multiple times saying he spends as much time with every unit of the team... because he is the head coach... and that is what they do. He leads all of the men on the roster.... because he is the head coach.

That stats update is actually wrong... Josh has 33 total TD... they’re not accounting for his TD reception against AZ. He has 26 passing, 6 rushing and 1 receiving

I love jacked up McDermott is, but the message was “we left a little meat on the bone.” I love it. Threw in a growth mindset too... they just want to keep improving.

Yes, I meant offensive line! I honestly haven’t watched any film this week, normally try to but I’ve been swamped with work. I don’t know exactly what they were doing, it just felt like someone was always in Josh’s lap. I noticed the same thing in the 2nd half of the AZ game. It’s been pressure on the edge primarily, with the occasional Winters blow up.

If the Steelers beat the Bills the end up being tied for a WC slot. Pittsburgh was sitting at 8-6... it was a pretty big game. Dallas also finished a game back of the division, they win that game and they’re tied. The context of when they played during the season matters a little bit... they also mean a little bit because it shows that they don’t collapse in prime time like you suggested. It’s not a problem having a dissenting opinion on the performance of the team. You should probably enjoy things a little bit though, if you’re going to be upset about 8-3 and controlling our own destiny in the division, which is an improvement over last year already, you’re never going to enjoy it at all. Division is close, but we beat both the teams trailing us, other than beating them... we can’t control what other teams do against them. 6/8 wins have come against teams that are .500 or better and our 3 losses have come against teams .500 or better. Find me another team who has played that level of competition this year and has continued to win, idc about the margin of victory. They’ve found a way to win against good teams, what’s so disappointing about that?

The way the Chargers attacked last week gave our defense line fits. It actually really all started in the 2nd half of the AZ game. Saleh is one of the best defensive minds in the game and will most likely find a way to do that again, if we continue to let that happen it’s going to put Josh in a position where he feels the need to make plays. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but if it’s too forced, that’s when the risky throws into crowds of people and sack-fumbles pop up. Defensively I am not too worried. I think we can confuse Mullens enough and as long as we rally to the ball and tackle we should be fine. Deebo and company seem to make their biggest plays after breaking tackles... so if we get sloppy there it’ll be an issue. It’s going to come down to fundamentals... our defense for 3 years was very good because they were always where they needed to be and made you beat them over and over again to score. It seems like that is back, but if the 49ers get rolling it’ll be because they’re back to being sloppy technique wise.

I don’t completely disagree with the view, but those weren’t actual prime time games. Those were necessary because of COVID, they weren’t planned and almost every team in that situation has looked sluggish. Maybe historically they tank in prime time, but what do Dick Jauron’s collapses have to do with this team? They beat Dallas in Dallas on Thanksgiving and Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh on SNF last year. Not quite tanking in prime time. I’m concerned for tonight’s game for various reasons, but none of them are media driven storyline reasons like “Bad in prime time” or “Don’t have any blow out wins”

I normally never watch their Sunday Football Countdown, but I did yesterday out of boredom. Rex Ryan made the comparison between Taysom and Josh at one point when they were ragging on Taysom, he said something along the lines of “Taysom reminds me of a young Josh Allen, can hurt you with his legs, can make some wow plays... you just need to stick with him.” It was sort of a compliment, saying that Josh has graduated past that... it was an odd comp though.

[Do you feel bad for Gregg Williams?] It would feel bad if he had learned from his mistakes in the past. Unfortunately, he seems to have doubled down on all of them. Bountygate looms large and yet the Jets have an absurd amount of PF penalties on defense. You’d think he’d clean that up? He’s been seen as an egomaniac and does stuff that just makes it worse, he never tries to fix it.
