It’s a passing league... the guy is an absolute weapon in pass coverage due to his length and speed. What he brings to the table really can’t be measure effectively all the time... his length clogs up passing windows and makes the QBs job much more difficult. His run stopping ability leaves a lot to be desired, but that’s not where his value is derived. He does his job at a high level and he’s only 22 years old. You draft a LB to replace him and he’s gonna to be older than Tremaine lmao... the kid is going to be an absolute beast when he enters his prime. He’s closer to the 2019 player than he is the 2020 player and he’s still growing as a MLB... after seeing how player development works with Josh, you’d think people would just think for a minute.

Josh should win AFC OPW again this week. 3x in 1 month should lock him in for his 2nd AFC OPM award this year. Based on my initial post.. it would be absolutely unprecedented if he didn’t win the MVP with 5 OPW and 2 OPM. He’s a star, but the NFL has a chance to cement him as one if the writers vote for him for MVP.

If Diggs were to be in consideration then guys like Hopkins and Davante Adams would have to be in consideration as well. If you look at their QBs; Rodgers and Murray. Both are considered MVP candidates, Murray is on the periphery, but the consensus is that the QB drives the offense and success of the skill positions around them. It’s really a chicken and egg argument IMO, but it seems that the voters have settled on the fact that the QB is more valuable than their supporting cast, no matter the truth behind that.

Adding this in here real quick... they are the stats from 9 out of the last 10 NFL MVPs. I put Peyton Manning (runner-up with 19.5 votes) in for 2012 because it's hard to compare a RB to 9 QBs. I also included Allen, Rodgers and Mahomes from this season. I projected out the final two games of the 2020 season for all 3 players so that their stats would reflect a complete season. At this point I feel comfortable doing that because all 3 have played 14 games. If Josh keeps pace here, we have to start to recognize that this is one of the best single season performances in the last decade by a QB. It's truly remarkable, truthfully Josh could sit out the next two weeks and have a legitimate shot at MVP in past seasons. Unfortunately this year both Rodgers and Mahomes are have seasons that dwarf past MVP seasons as well. In any other year Josh is most likely the front runner.

The difference in the ratings between two players serves as a predictor of the outcome of a match. Two players with equal ratings who play against each other are expected to score an equal number of wins. Right, my scenario was for an outright clinch prior to week 17. Likely the only scenario we can rest our starters... which would be beneficial given Miami beats Oakland this week.

I don’t think we clinch there because of the possibility of a Steelers/Browns tie week 17. If Tennessee wins next week, they have a chance to finish 12-4 with us (assuming a Dolphins loss) and Pitt/Cle tie (slim chance). We can’t clinch without a Tennessee loss this week.

In any situation that we are tied at 12-4 with 2 or more teams we are the #2 seed. So if the Steelers and Browns are both 11-4 and going into week 17 we are in good shape there, because one of those teams will have to finish 12-4 with exception of a tie. The possible tie in week 17 between them is the only reason we can’t clinch next week with a Bills win and Pitt loss.
