  1. The pundits have been high on Baker all through last year and his uneven start to this year because he had a good rookie year. For a lot of people, if you do well your rookie year it kind of just becomes expected that the player is good. They can live off that narrative. Any time I’ve watched him he’s been really streaky. He throws some HORRIBLE interceptions. At least one a game where he doesn’t even see a guy lurking. Think Josh’s second pick against Tennessee but multiplied by 1000000. If he gets hot, he basically can’t miss. But if he’s disrupted for awhile, he basically can’t get back on track. I also know from a player on their teams that he thinks he’s better than reading the playbook and studying film... at least compared to the QBs this player has played with in the past. He pretty much thinks he can just go out and play.
  2. How is it going to be a problem that takes a few year to rebound? The post laid out there's fairly minimal dead cap when compared to the savings from releasing certain players. It's nothing like the Walker and Dockery signings at all. EDIT: Re: Walker and Dockery Maybe performance wise, but not in the sense that it's going to handicap the franchise. Dead money is normal.
  3. That’s how the WC works. You’re not the best team in your division, so you go up against other teams for a shot at the playoffs. The Bills did everything they needed to do to be a playoff team in 2017. The Baltimore Ravens did not. Just because it comes down to certain scenarios doesn’t mean a team wasn’t playoff caliber... they were in the playoffs... therefore they were a playoff team. They did what they needed to do and other teams didn’t. The statements about this year are pretty funny, like arguing with a 3 year old.
  4. Our fan base is full of chronic complainers... this board highlights that. McDermott doesn’t complain so that seems odd. Josh doesn’t complain in the traditional sense, but when he gets hit he often asks for flags. Not in the obnoxious was Brady does where he stands in a referees huddle... but he will often point and gesture... so I can see it. I wouldn’t label him as a complainer though, not while knowing his story to get to the league.
  5. Explain to me how we backed into the playoffs? I don’t know what that means.
  6. He’s not playing up to his potential by any means. I think everyone agrees with that, there are a variety of reasons why that’s the case. The point of it all is, he’s not playing as bad as everyone on this message board is making it seem. Folks with an eye for film have said he’s been fine, which obviously isn’t where we need to him to be, but the whole sky is falling, he’s useless cut him, trade him, he’s not even good enough to be a backup in the league stuff is just ridiculous. But at some point discussions on this board are like arguing with a 3 year old. No matter how much logic you use, facts you supply and discussion you have... someone is going to just push back because they don’t know any better.
  7. Well it’s funny, because those who analyze film say he isn’t out of position play after play and he’s actually doing his job. Cover1 talks about how his film actually looks ok and the reactions after the game are knee jerk. But facts don’t matter.
  8. Would you like to cite those analysts? Edmunds wasn’t incorrectly shooting gaps this week, he was overrunning and struggling to get off blocks... but that was largely cleaned up in the 2nd half... Sure, blame falls on Edmunds for the poor run defense. Not denying that, I’m also not ready to give up on a guy because of a sample size 5 injury riddled games... I also wouldn’t give up on him after 16 injury riddled games, when he’s shown improvement over his first two seasons. It’s just plain dumb...
  9. Cover 1 has made it pretty clear his tape isn’t all that bad. He seems to be hampered by an injury. He was progressing fine in Y1 and Y2... and now in Y3 he looks bad? Sure, if he didn’t have the injury it would be an issue, but the tape shows he’s doing what he’s supposed to and he’s in the right spot, but he can’t shed blocks which is an issue that has hampered him in the past but he also needs to use his shoulders to do so. Cover 1 states he’s doing his job in the scheme... You can’t claim regression when a player is hurt... their physical ability is hampered but they haven’t regressed. I’ll bet he miraculously bounces back... but it won’t be a miracle... it’ll be because he’s healthy.
  10. Well if he’s as bad as everyone says... he won’t be making all that much 🤣
  11. I would say no, it's not time to move on. He had improved steadily up until this year, he will be 23 for all of next season... What everyone is suffering from is prospect fatigue... it happens a lot in baseball. Guy is hyped up in the system for a long time, so people get their hopes up.. he doesn't perform right away and because they've known about him for a long time they just think he's a bust and want to cut bait. I promise you it's a mistake with this type of player... he is still learning on the job. Say we were to replace him in the draft... Dylan Moses would be a popular option. Tremaine is only 23 days older than Moses and has 3 years in the NFL... as much as people don't think that's a big deal... it is. Chazz Surratt, Errol Thompson, Charles Snowden, Gabriel Cox are some of the other top LB prospects and they're all older than Tremaine. I don't think people realize we have a unicorn here.
  12. Awesome, thanks. I figured there was some improvement there as a whole. It looks like they tightened it up in the 2nd half... I wouldn't say the Jets abandoned the run... they just couldn't do anything at all. They had the ball 5 times in the 2nd half and had 2 first downs... the first play of their first drive in the Q3 was a 13 yard run by Gore and then they went 3 and out. 3 and out on the next 3 drives.... the 2nd first down was because of the Hyde penalty. They ran 17 plays and ran the ball 5 times.
  13. Appreciate the video. It would be cool to see some more bad plays from the second half... I think the only one you had there was the dropped interception, which I definitely thought he should have caught. The one at the end of the 1st half was a tough play... he was playing deeper in order to avoid a big play with time expiring.. Darnold made a nice play escaping the pocket and pitched it forward to his RB and it popped off the RBs hands... IMO that's a stretch to say it's a "blatantly bad play by Edmunds." Other than that 2nd half dropped interception, everything you showed was from the first half... does that mean things improved in the second half and he played much better as the whole Bills defense did? Or was that just a coincidence?
  14. No, we don't pay attention to that at all. It's meaningless.
  15. Yeah, the guy played in limited amounts during his rookie season in 2018 and showed flashes. Looked like a contributor early in 2019 and had a serious injury... as much as people dismiss how easy it is to come back from an ACL year... it’s really not... just because it’s common and the rehab is common doesn’t mean it happens the same for everyone. Has struggled early this year like the rest of this defense, so he’s sitting. It think McDermott has faith in the kid, he knows he’s working hard. I don’t think it’s coach speak... I think sometimes you can just take things at face value. Sometimes you ride the hot hand and create some competition.. that’s what is happening here with Zimmer. Epenesa was a healthy scratch early and now he’s seems to be turning the corner a little bit and contributing defensively, it’s not like the concept is foreign. I come from the world of baseball, so it doesn’t necessarily work here as a 1 for 1 comp in the NFL. But plenty of times guys are talented and have the tools but things aren’t clicking or they’re not 100% back from an injury, so you send them down and give them time to get right. That’s what this seems like to me. I’d be shocked if he gets traded... we’re likely going to be cutting some DL this off-season for cap space and Harrison can be a contributor.
  16. I totally understand what you’re getting at.. but it can be argued Darnold was given a better chance to succeed from the get go. You seem to argue that 2019 was better because the Bills went out and got Josh some competent help... which I agree. Robby Anderson, Chris Herndon and Quincy Enunwa were much better options than Zay Jones, Robert Foster and a few games of Kelvin Benjamin in 2018. The Jets went out and got Bell and Crowder in 2019 when we got Brown and Beasley. It’s not like Darnold hasn’t been given weapons to use.
  17. What about Newton? That wasn’t an argument when he was running for TD in the red zone? Why is that a negative for Josh?
  18. Well you threw 5 stats out there. 2 of which aren’t impacted by per game stats and 3 of which are...that’s why I asked the question. You also left out Josh’s 631 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns there... we can add rushing to the mix because that’s a big part of his game. Darnold 230 Y/G, 3.6 INT%, 77.6 RATING, 57.7 COMP% and 16 total TD in 13 games. Allen 224 Y/G, 3.8 INT%, 68 RATING, 52 COMP% and 18 total TD in 11 games.
  19. What are the per game stats? Darnold started and played two more games than Josh their rookie years...
  20. In terms of completion percentage Cam sits around 59% for his career... which is right around where Josh is at with 58%. Cam Y/G rushing is 39 for his career... Josh's Y/G rushing is 38. I guess Cam has a longer track record... but the main difference between the two is what the media tells you. Allen is inaccurate because of his footwork... not necessarily arm action. Josh's release is quick... so he can get the ball out quick if he needs to. It doesn't take a lot for him to be accurate... his feet just have to be somewhat set... he has kid of a hop motion to keep everything balanced. It's something he worked on for this year, he's more of a rotational passer. Newton has a pretty bad hitch in his throwing motion... which takes him a little longer to get the ball out. Couple that with his footwork which is inconsistent from time to time and you have a guy that really can't succeed in Belichick's style offense... or at least the offense they've run for 20 years.
  21. Cam is better than any QB Belichick has started outside of Brady... but he doesn't play the game in a way that fits their system. It was a weird fit. His mechanics take a lot for things to go right... he's not very accurate... their system depends on it. With that being said... I'm fairly positive he will start next week and be used as a RB that can throw...
  22. Yes, you are 100% correct. My calculations based on his contract extension he signed in August, Sean McDermott has 1,891 days remaining in Buffalo.
  23. Great post. Everyone is going to have an opinion and someone outside the NFL can most definitely be more qualified and right more often than some GMs. I’m not necessarily going to buy the fact that all 32 FOs are incompetent. It’s simply not believable... it’s also easier to form an opinion and bang the table for certain players when at the end of the day your job isn’t on the line. It’s a lot harder when you’re there making those decisions with real ramifications, speaking from experience.
  24. How am I reaching for a comparison? I gave you rankings from a 3rd party. They put those guys in the same category as Tre White. Which would imply that they’re more than decent veterans. It’s fair ask whether or not you’d trade Tre White for a 3rd round pick? Fine. If you don’t believe he’s the same caliber and a notch above, would you trade him for a 2nd round pick? In the pro sports world, if you make a scouting or personnel recommendation and your evaluation doesn’t actually match up with the recommendation... it gets thrown out. Your evaluation doesn’t match up with the recommendation.
