  1. Teams have tried it since we played KC in week 6. Josh has shown he can adjust to it now.
  2. "It doesn't really bother me or flatter me all that much," Allen said in December. "I'm an extremely self-driven person. I have a lot of confidence in myself. I take ownership of the last couple years, the mishaps and miscues, and understand that I was growing and learning. But the apology letter, the form or whatever you want to call it? I guess it was cool. It was something to talk about.” I’m on record talking about this somewhere and I love Josh discussing it. He’s self-motivated which is way more sustainable and healthy than the Baker Mayfield style of having a list of every person who’s ever doubted him. Josh has his moments, like Fresno State, but the kid was hurt by that. He grew up a huge fan and they labeled him “not competitive” at their camps.
  3. Excellent point. Everyone saw Josh Allen at Wyoming and leading up to the draft. This is how they formed their opinions on Josh Allen. Then when he arrived in Buffalo they didn’t see him as much. They probably saw some “wow” throws in highlight reels, but were also privy to some lowlight reels where he missed a target pretty bad (a friend of mine who trashes Josh Allen every time he gets sent me one of these videos from Week 1 just recently when Josh overthrew Brown in the EZ as his sole proof that “Josh is bad”). Overall folks saw his Wyoming numbers and some highlights to form their initial opinion. Then they saw some Bills highlights and his numbers weren’t really much different and said “see I told you so.” Instead of watching him actually progress week to week like we have because we’re fans of the team. Mostly everyone outside of Buffalo formed their opinion, closed their eyes for 3 years, opened their eyes and now are taken aback. Whereas I watched him every week, saw the incremental improvement and I’m not as shocked. Don’t get me wrong, he took like 3 years worth of leaps from last season to this season, but I’m not necessarily shocked.
  4. Are you sure? I am almost positive Merriam-Webster updated the definition of class to exactly what you laid out above!
  5. Yeah they came out today and said Gettleman is safe. With Rivera in DC now, it gives us competition for former Panthers... so sad. I don’t think SF would do that, unless DEN wants to mortgage their future. Lynch and Shannahan have really done a great job there.
  6. I think it’s Bienemy’s job, I think Watson is going to have a lot of say as to who the HC is.
  7. 5 GM spots left open. JAX, ATL, DET, CAR, DEN (Maybe WSH) Most worried about losing Schoen this year to CAR. I think Hurney either ends up the GM in WSH or here in Buffalo under Beane. ATL seems to really want Terry Fontenot. CAR I think will hire Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Rhule seems to be in charge there and Adofo-Mensah has a strong analytics background which they’re covering. Detroit is a wild card. Jacksonville depends on Urban Meyer IMO. Denver will be someone who feels comfortable with Elway.
  8. We tried to sign Juszcyzk in 2017 but he chose SF and we signed DiMarco instead. I wouldn’t be shocked if we targeted him again. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.buffalorumblings.com/platform/amp/buffalo-bills-nfl-free-agency-2017/2017/3/8/14854070/buffalo-bills-baltimore-ravens-fb-kyle-juszczyk-2017-nfl-free-agency
  9. The thing is they’re not being careful. I know it for a fact. A friend of mine is related to a Browns player and another lives in Cleveland... he said his friends saw Baker and Kareem out at the bar with a few teammates after they clinched a playoff spot. I asked him why nobody snapped a photo and they said “we wouldn’t do that to our own.” I then said, “Well how do you know your friends aren’t lying?” To which he replied “Well Baker’s wife posted a photo of them there, but you can’t tell where they are unless you know the bar.” Here’s the link... https://www.instagram.com/p/CJomL2YFHLs/?hl=en
  10. Right, this is awesome and I did see this. I believe in player development probably more than anyone on this board... so I’m not saying he isn’t and can’t be a contributor as a high volume WR, I just think we actually lose an element of our offense with him thrust into a larger role right now. There’s no doubt he’s developed, he seems to catch almost everything... and has made some impressive grabs over the middle in his limited time over the past 3 years and you’re right he can probably provide more than Stills... I just think Stills provides something else on top of Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Davis and McKenzie for the Colts (and others) to worry about. Whatever the decision is I support it and if I’m wrong, I’m ok with being wrong. I don’t think the difference in this game or any is going to be the role that McKenzie/Stills play, I just think both of them being active is good for us. It really boils down to Stills > Kroft now that I think about it more.
  11. Well Dobbins was off the board 31 picks before Moss was taken. It’s not like they chose Moss over Dobbins at 86.
  12. I agree that he stated his case to be used in more volume, I wouldn’t hate if he was. I understand your point, no offense taken. With that being said, they’re all capable of playing each WR position so to speak, I don’t think it would be a crazy stretch, but I may be getting ahead of myself with Stills and I’ll give you that. I love McKenzie but I view him as a gadget guy personally, even when we were hurting for WR he wasn’t a heavily involved piece of the offense, that may be manipulating my feelings. I also forgot to include Gabe. I guess what I was trying to say was that Stills would slot into the top 4 WR allowing McKenzie to play in his gadget role as the 5th guy. I don’t think this situation and Duke last year are comparable, but I get your point. Ultimately I think having Stills active is just something else for the defense to think about, maybe just signing him does that in itself during the week, but if we don’t use our TE often, I’d rather activate Stills than Kroft (in the event Gilliam is still out, then I think Gilliam is active for ST purposes and everything is a moot point).
  13. There were a few articles written that specifically used the word blueprint, I’m guessing that’s where it’s coming from. They held Baltimore to their lowest total yards all year and Lamar had his worst rushing performance of the season. Ironically it was an uncharacteristic blown coverage against Hayden Hurst that probably cost them the game.
  14. He’s paraphrasing what the Titans defenders said after they beat Baltimore. Titans players came out and said Buffalo gave them the blueprint to beat the Ravens. It’s not a moral victory, it’s directly from the team’s mouth. EDIT: “We wanted to give him loaded boxes all night to get him out of the game. We were either playing a loaded box and man to man and make him beat us throwing the ball outside mano-a-mano, or we were going to play a quarters defense similar to what Buffalo did. And Buffalo played them well. Buffalo just didn’t score a lot of points on offense.“ - Logan Ryan
  15. As someone who prides myself on watching every ounce of Josh Allen content, I have never actually seen this before, so thank you. What’s amazing listening to him speak there, is that’s exactly what I imagine him saying when he hoists a Lombardi trophy and Super Bowl MVP. I actually told this to @Hapless Bills Fanin a PM a few weeks back without ever seeing this video. Basically what he said here, about it being for/because of everyone else is what I imagine him saying when he wins it all for Buffalo. I try not to drool over pro athletes, but Josh is special man.
  16. I think he could probably play over McKenzie. McKenzie seems to be a guy they don’t want to give a lot of volume to under normal circumstances. I may be wrong. If Beasley doesn’t play I think Stills takes over for Brown, Diggs for Beasley and Brown for Diggs. If Beasley does play, I think we only actively 2 TE (Knox and Smith) and use a PS call up for Stills. We’d have Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Davis and Stills in 5 WR sets as well as McKenzie to come in for any of those guys and threaten a gadget play.
  17. Baseball is the only sport with with a total antitrust exemption. The NFL has the ability to collectively negotiate television deals, and this was granted to them by Washington, but its the only thing that resembles an antitrust exemption for the league. Otherwise they’re subject to antitrust laws.
  18. I guess it’s pretty noteworthy we played 4/10 teams in PD.
  19. There are so many things wrong with this post. He’s been here for 3 seasons including this year... Rick Dennison was the OC the first season under McDermott. The last 3/4 of the season only? What about weeks 1-4 when the Bills averaged over 30 PPG. and our QB coach is more valuable than Daboll? The QB coach that doesn’t call plays and doesn’t work with Josh Allen in the off-season. Got it. There are so many things wrong with this post. He’s been here for 3 seasons including this year... Rick Dennison was the OC the first season under McDermott. The last 3/4 of the season only? 20. No, the funny thing is I didn’t cherry pick any stats from any games. I separated his first 5 weeks (where he was hurt) from the remaining 9 games where he’s been healthy. That’s not cherry picked... that’s a legitimate line of demarcation. I gave you the exact stats that you gave me... I just separated them pre and post injury. If that’s cherry picked because injuries aren’t legitimate deterrents of performance then I guess I’m wrong. Yes, it’s discouraging he hasn’t improved this year... but his best stretch this year is a little different from last year seeing that the level of competition is significantly different. I guess that doesn’t matter either? I’m not arguing that he leaves impact plays on the field, I’m not arguing his stats are different than years past. I legitimately said that in my last post. I’m not invalidating your argument, a lot of it is right. I’m talking about your inability to admit that you are wrong, or at least acknowledge when you’ve provided misleading information in the context that you display it. Much like I said you would, you ignored that and tried to do that thing where you’re so much smarter than I am and you need to make me feel inferior. You are much smarter than I am, as well as 99.9% of members on this board. When you’re wrong, just acknowledge it. I’m done discussing it, you’ll never change because that’s just who you are. I have a lot of respect for your knowledge, I just have a hard time sifting through all the holier than thou stuff.
  21. Your argument isn’t wrong, I made a statement that most of his value is derived from clogging passing lanes and your initial argument centered around his pass defense stats not being good... no mention of film. Then I showed you stats and how he’s improved since his injury and instead of acknowledging that you decided to counter my film point saying that you watch film and have great seats to watch him and he doesn’t execute his assignments well and falls short from making impact plays time and time again. Then I give you a specific example of what I’m talking about and you move to him not having enough instincts, but the examples you gave were related to his run defense, which I made pretty clear early on that I don’t think his run defense is great either... but you and I were never discussing that. Nothing falls flat, you just slowly move the proverbial goal post each time further away from your initial argument to push your point of view and then puff your chest about how you’re never wrong even though you’ve ignored people proving you wrong throughout the entire conversation. I’ve brought this up numerous times when we’ve gone back and forth. You’re extremely intelligent but you never acknowledge that you’re wrong, you ignore and then find a different set of information to prove your point. Now rather than acknowledging all of this you’re going to tell me I’m dumb and how you’re superior to me. None of this is hidden... you can just go back and read all the posts that go 1 page back. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
  22. His passer rating is inflated because of a really poor first 5 weeks. 158, 153, 118, 149... an average of 127 in the first 5 weeks. Things have been much improved since then... 83.5 on average over the last 9 weeks. Y/A is down from 22 yards in the first 5 weeks to 6 over the last 9. He allowed 3 TDS in the first 5 weeks. He’s allowed 1 since then.
  23. From my understanding the value he brings is clogging up the passing lanes and forcing the QB to make an alternate decision. That’s the reason I included the “dream catcher” he has a specific profile and skill set. It’s not necessarily measured outside of watching film. In the initial stage of Edmunds’ drop into zone coverage (top right of the image), he saw wide receiver Jakobi Meyers go into his breakdown to settle into a curl route. Edmunds could easily have stayed right where he was around the 31-yard line or even tried to cover up the receiver. But when he saw Meyers settle in well short of the first-down marker, he knew to continue his drop. Edmunds’ decision to carry through with the zone as it was called was a big reason the Bills took away the Patriots’ ability to get a first down through the air. The route combination had one receiver going deep to take the cornerback and safety with him, and another receiver working to get behind the first-level of the Bills’ zone coverage, past the first-down marker and inside to make it an easier throw for the quarterback. The Patriots’ routes effectively took the cornerback and safety away from the crossing receiver, but Edmunds’ drop made him a threat to jump the second-level route. Edmunds then settled at the first-down marker at the 28-yard line. His anticipation forced Newton to settle for the shorter target.
  24. The horror... a good athlete made a play.
