  1. Wallace wasn’t really a 1 year deal. He was a UDFA, which means he’s a RFA every year until he reaches his the proper amount of service time and the Bills just have to tender him a contract at the minimum threshold to retain him.
  2. Pretty wild how much easier it was for them to move the ball with Fitzpatrick at QB. Tua will start next week against the Jets and should look fine/get the win. Same thing with the Bengals. Games against KC, NE, LV and Buffalo will be a much different story. Going to be a tough stretch for him... if the defense doesn’t bail him out like they did against AZ and LA then it’s probably best to start Fitzpatrick.
  3. Lmao. This is all gut. I think Mitch has a similar skill set to Josh, at least closer then Barkley. Mitch will come pretty cheap because he’s been bad in Chicago. Bills liked Trubisky coming out of college. I just think it makes a lot of sense. Haha it never ends! I also think that Nagy gets fired this year and both Daboll and Bienemy get HC jobs. I wouldn’t be shocked if we pursued Nagy to be our OC (was McDermott’s first choice when he came here I believe, then Childress and eventually we hired Dennison), but I bet he ends up in KC. Dorsey will likely become OC. All speculation of course.
  4. Mitch Trubisky will be signed as our backup QB in the off-season.
  5. Stellar defense? They’ve beaten Philadelphia and Houston with some solid defense and 70MPH wind gusts lol. It’s not like the Eagles and Texans are world beaters. Browns were outscored like 77-13 in their games against Pittsburgh and Baltimore. If they were the Bills you wouldn’t be saying what you’re saying.
  6. So your argument is based on the fact that Nix/Whaley’s drafts had guys come out of the gate playing above average and then busted? I mean that doesn’t make much sense. A few guys had good returns in season 1-2 and that makes them good draft picks forever? If you believe in a thing called player development, which actually exists, Beane’s drafts are fine. If they’re competitive with Josh and all of these “below average” picks, imagine when Beane finally gets 1, just 1 average to above average player in the draft.
  7. Well you asserted that Whaley had better drafts... go look at the individual players he drafted... Beane’s drafts have been fine. yes, they did. So I’m gonna venture to guess the truth is somewhere in the middle?
  8. Okay... well until this season Josh wasn’t seen as a good QB. So what about last year when you have roughly 7/22 starters on a playoff caliber team that were drafted by Beane that are known as mediocre or below average? Wouldn’t that be an issue? Defense across the league is down, not to mention our schedule has seen us face 3 of the top MVP candidates at QB. I agree it’s been frustrating to watch but they’ve undoubtedly improved as the season has gone on. Invested heavily in the defense is a loaded statement... yes the contracts are large and there’s money tied up there... but Beane structures them so they’re pretty much 1 year deals with options and very minimal repercussions moving forward. The money can be made liquid very quickly. A lot of people don’t really recognize that the talent pool in free agency is limited. Yes, they’re giving these guys deals because that’s who they’re limited to sign. Supply and demand. It’s that simple. If there was a better fit, I’m sure they’d explore it. But you can’t just make one appear.
  9. I’m just kind of confused... how can Beane have 7 players over 3 drafts that are starting on a playoff caliber team that are mediocre to below average. If 7/22 starters are mediocre on this team are mediocre then that’s a real serious issue. They can’t be mediocre or below average otherwise the team wouldn’t be performing at a high level.
  10. Well that’s not what this article says... and I’ll have to disagree on Whaley. Outside of Woods, Watkins, Lawson and Darby pretty much everyone he took is out of the NFL now... most of them never contributed to the Bills. I don’t count the 2017 draft for either GM, because we’ll never really know who was more influential McDermott or Whaley. At least it’s controversial amongst posters here. I count 7 guys (can make it 8 if you want to add Teller) Beane drafted that are starting on a playoff caliber team plus a bunch of role players contributing. He’s not perfect but the idea that a GM has to find a starter in all 7 rounds or else he’s bad is foolish. He’s been above average. Unfortunately fans place very high expectations on every draft pick and it they don’t live up to those lofty expectations then they’re a missed pick. It’s just a lack understanding of value.
  11. It was extremely apparent when we played the Cardinals last Sunday. When they cut to the CBS halftime show they started talking about how it was a close game and whatnot. Bills were leading by a score... but they showed a graphic with Allen’s stats and Murray’s stats. Which were basically identical... Then someone said “So far it’s been the Kyler Murray show” and they flashed up Kyler highlights of him running around. He had 16 yards rushing, but they glossed over that and showed him scrambling around on plays that he avoided a 8 yard loss and turned it into a 1-2 yard loss or no gain. They made it look like he was running ALL OVER us. If you were watching the game... you had to be confused. But that’s the story they wanted to tell.
  12. He practiced today... not officially ruled out yet. At least that I’ve seen.
  13. Watching Dunlap get that sack just sent my mind to alternate vision of Mario Addison getting a sack to end the game on Sunday instead of flailing on the ground like a fish out of water. Going to pour a glass of tequila and cry myself to sleep.
  14. OMG! OMG! OMG! Pete Carroll just used a timeout. Burn him at the stake with McDermott
  15. This stupid game is going to go to OT. If Murray marches then down the field we’re gonna hear more stupid narrative about Murray being the GOAT.
  16. If McDermott challenged this play, this board would be burnt to the ground. Yikes. Primarily because his challenge conversation rate would drop
  17. I did! Just didn’t think of it occurred outside the EZ and carried in it was a safety... which it’s not. I was screaming at my TV last week when the Cardinals had an injury timeout and then called a timeout right after. Announcers didn’t even react, refs didn’t say anything at first. I was so mad... took until we came back from the commercial, a little more discussion and they finally called it lol. Point being that the announcers do a really poor job of picking up on the finer details. Drives me nuts. It takes 1-2 plays for them to catch on to things and I’m convinced it’s someone in their ear telling them...
  18. If they Kay Adams story is a true story for you... I’m deeply sorry. I love her.
  19. Wait, I thought Beane was a poor talent evaluator and drafter? Someone tell New York Upstate and Ryan Talbot before they embarrass themselves putting out fake news!
  20. Something like... “Why the heck did we have Gabriel Davis in over Dane Jackson on that last play? What was McDermott thinking... Davis hasn’t practiced one snap on defense all year and you put him out there to cover Hopkins!!!”
  21. The clock was stopped. They had a chance to gather already... the offense calls a play and the defense has to react. The offense is the driver in the situation, defense is the passenger. McDermott got a look at what they were doing and called a timeout to make sure everyone knew their role. Sure, maybe it gave Kingsbury a minute to make an adjustment himself but the offense can adjust based on the audibles installed on that play... the defense is purely reacting. I like to use the example of a game in poor conditions. Offensive players have an advantage with bad turf, wet turf, etc. because they know exactly what they’re doing on that play... the defender is doing their best to react to it. The call was correct, the execution was correct, the result was a great player made a great play. It happens. What would people say if McDermott didn’t call a timeout and that exact same result occurred? That the defense was unorganized and players didn’t know their assignments?
  22. Hopefully they keep playing loose and don’t get too tense after this fluke loss.
  23. I highlighted it in the thread prior, but McDermott seems to follow a pretty common interview tactic. If someone asks a question that he doesn’t want to answer, he just sort of recycles the question as his answer. The last question about “did Morse doing something off the field that caused him to not play, or was it a football decision?” He very simply says “It was a football decision.” He’s too respectful to do much more than that IMO.
