What do the scouts whose predraft assessments made Allen such a polarizing prospect—boom or bust—make of the wide respect he's receiving now and its influence on upcoming drafts? Are they surprised by his play this season, or did they really see this coming?
-
He was a near consensus pick because B/R had him going 1.1? Come on man... you’re really going to try and pretend like Josh wasn’t a polarizing prospect? He was mocked to the Bills because the Bills were interested in him... which means the Bills did their homework and took a swing on the most polarizing prospect ever and hit. Feel free to introduce more polarizing draft prospects...

I appreciate the kind words. I’m glad they put together a better version of my analysis... I’d be curious to see the cumulative... Bills are probably what top 3 during that span? I don’t necessarily understand your point about elite players in 2018? You’re lucky if you get 1 per draft. The whole point is that in comparison to their peers they’re better and more consistent. Indianapolis and Baltimore are right up there too. The front office’s only job isn’t drafting players either... they do everything at a very high level. Draft, FA, salary cap, pro personnel, culture, staff hires, etc. That’s what makes them the best in the league.

They are. It's really indisputable. They're one of the best drafting teams in the NFL compared to their peers since arriving in 2017 (Yes, McDermott is part of the front office). It's proven with data and performance on the field. They're one of the best teams at getting value in FA compared to their peers since arriving in 2017. It's proven with data and performance on the field. They took a risk on one of the most polarizing prospects in the history of the sport... and got it right. They have a clear core values and a plan that they stick to, but they're also not afraid to make a splash when they know they need to (See Diggs, Stefon) They have 4-5 guys that are considered future NFL GMs in the front office. They've absolutely made mistakes... like all front offices do... it's inevitable. They've just done a really good job of minimizing those mistakes in comparison to their peers. Easily a top 3 front office in the league and I don't question them being considered the best.

Is it reasonable to believe he could have gotten concussions in the 22 years of his life prior to entering the NFL where he also played football at a high level? As a rookie late in the 2010 season, Adams suffered a severe ankle injury that required surgery that included several screws being inserted into the leg. He never played for the 49ers again, getting released just before the 2011 season began. Later, with the Raiders, he had 2 concussions over 3 games in 2012. Not true in his case... Whether he suffered long-lasting concussion-related injuries wasn't immediately clear. Adams would not have been eligible for testing as part of a broad settlement between the league and its former players over such injuries, because he hadn't retired by 2014.

I’m not excusing anything... what happened is tragic and disgusting. What if the cause of his rampage was a degenerative brain disease that greatly influences your ability to think rationally, causes suicidal and destructive thoughts and heightens impulsive behavior? He’s just a monster and that’s it? If you look up the symptoms one of them is “uncontrollable aggression.”

I’m not giving anyone a pass? All I said was it seemed like it could be CTE and then said it was a tragedy... This is a poor response from you man... Do you understand how CTE works and what it does to your brain and ability to behave and think rationally? It doesn’t have the same effect on everyone. Ok. When they come out and say he had significant CTE then we can discuss it. That’s probably fair.

The Athletic NFL offseason summary - high praise for Bills FO

“They decided to take on that dead cap and it caused problems for them. They could have been competitive had they just tried to add to the roster.” Too many posters on here. -
Bills hosting LB Tyrell Adams on visit (update - Signed)

This doesn’t make too much sense to me personally. He can be in his 4th NFL season and still be young... then again I don’t get off by telling 23 year olds they need to man up on message boards. -
Why would he even if he could? It would mean teams would have to treat him like a normal PS player and they’re less likely to use a spot on him because he’s learning how to play football... https://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2021/0121/1191130-christian-wade-rugby-nfl-interview/ "For me, it's knowing the protections and making sure I can react quickly. For me, that's the thing I have to have down solid for me to be able to be on the field and get regular reps." Let’s have him out there not knowing the protections or being unsure of himself. That’s injury waiting to happen for him and God forbid Josh. Wade understands what is happening. He’s even said Buffalo is the best spot for him... I don’t think he feels owned or indentured. He’s there to learn right now...
-
He will be on the field for about 50% of the snaps on defense per data from both years he has been in Buffalo. If 50% of the snaps isn’t that much then sure...
-
I don’t think you really understand what you’re talking about right now... Wade himself is on record saying he still has so much to learn and that the playbook still gives him difficulties, he’s still learning block concepts, etc. If you want to throw him out on the field on game day that’s cool... but you’d likely be the first to whine when he makes a mistake. He legitimately has 2 years of professional football experience... he’s a world class athlete learning a brand new sport... everyone knows he isn’t ready. Not if he’s part of the International program. Bills get an exemption and teams aren’t allowed to poach him.
-
Except Star will help with that too... because it’s means interior players aren’t playing out of position anymore....

I absolutely HATE our team’s focus on Special Teams

This post defies all logic. There’s legitimately zero logic used here. Zero. Learn math.

Not Sure We Will Repeat as AFCE Champs

Me too! I don’t disagree with this at all... not one bit. The good news is... our GM and HC have the exact same mindset. There without a doubt is still room for improvement... but improvement doesn’t have to come in the form of free agency. Would a big FA splash have been one way to improve this team? Absolutely. Is that the only way to improve this team? Absolutely not. I totally understand the need and want to see improvement... for it to be tangible. That’s what a feee agent signing is... it is SO much easier for everyone that way... Where we are right now... a lot of the improvement is going to come from player development... and unless you’re lucky enough to be there every day while these guys are training and playing... it’s going to be a little bit of an unknown for fans until they step on the field.
