  1. This team is really just a disappointment because they’re not undefeated.
  2. Those evil vaccinated people not wearing masks!! Or wait is it the evil people who aren’t vaccinated at all? Or wait.. who is evil again? Go back to yelling at clouds.
  3. He’s already making them… we’re spoiled by Joshua Patrick Allen.
  4. Jeez. What did Matt Rhule do to you?
  5. I’d cut Brieda in that scenario if we acquired Patterson. Kumerow would become inactive on game days.
  6. Cordarrelle Patterson!
  7. We need a guy like Cordarelle Patterson. He’d be perfect in this offense and he’s really the only guy in the league who has been used this way. He can run the football but can also split out wide and function like another WR - because he is a WR being used as a RB. He’s also an All-Pro return man. You get a ton of value out of him. If we’re just running to keep the other team honest… have your running back be another WR.
  8. Well then, yes. We’re in agreement on that. What key starters does he need to resign… the big contracts he gave out were given to key starters…? He’s already accomplished that. I agree with the point on the trenches. I think the defensive line with built to beat guys like Mahomes and not smash mouth offenses like the Titans. I’m not sure if it’s possible to build a team that can negate both types of offenses in today’s league. I’d still like some nastier guys tho - particularly on offense.
  9. That’s a hypothetical. That’s one reason why his argument doesn’t work. The second is that we can very easily and objectively look at Beane’s drafts without Josh Allen and see that he drafted well… and better than the majority of his peers. The title of this thread is Beane’s Draft Success… we’re purely discussing his ability to obtain value from the draft.
  10. He’s making the point that without Josh Allen, Beane’s drafts have been bad and would have gotten him fired. I’m talking purely from a return standpoint, that’s not true. No hypotheticals or anything. I’m saying - fine, let’s remove Josh from the equation and look at his drafts. They’re still above average and would not be grounds to fire him.
  11. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. I’d love to see some evidence on that. You’re speaking based on emotion and opinion with no objective information. I have displayed objective information related to the draft multiple times on this board - for when you clap back and say I’ve done the same thing.
  12. The numbers says drafting is hard… even for those who have success drafting… and your big point is that people hired to draft aren’t as good as they should be? How does that add up? They’re only good or bad by comparison to the rest of their peers? Unless there’s some magical being out there in the world that’s not a GM and is identifying talent at a rate greater than NFL executives… I’m not sure where you’re going with this?
  13. Uhhh… he’s literally the reigning and defending executive of the year 😂 And you’re trying to take a dig at him for signing veteran depth with past production?
  14. Yes - it gives him more room for error. Everyone misses more than they hit - you should not have to be forgiven for your misses. You should be applauded for your hits. It’s a media/fan driven thing that’s really silly when you look at the data on drafting. TV analysts and fans want to cherry pick and say “He took player X, but look player Y was on the board and he’s an All-Pro now.” It doesn’t work that way and it’s created total misunderstanding as to how draft success should be measured. Honestly, he could’ve missed on JA and would still be better than an average drafter when compared to his peers. We really need people here to understand how difficult it is to draft and that Beane has been better than his peers (and way better than average) since taking over. It’s not just because of JA. He’s out drafted pretty much everyone when you look at each individual draft.
  15. I'd like to argue that it's almost unheard of... you're underestimating how bad teams are at drafting. I LOVE your logic on the high floor/low ceiling stuff in RD2, but isn't that exactly what Beane has done? Ford (as a guard), Epenesa and Basham were all that exact type of player coming out of college. I think your logic on the top-60 player is a little flawed. They may be a top-60 player in that draft class but it doesn't make them an immediate starter in the NFL? Higher probability of being a starter but those players bust all the time... especially when you get to the back end of RD2 where Epenesa and Basham were taken. It's something like over 40% of NFL starters were drafted after the second round - I may not understand the math here, but if 40% of the starters in this league were acquired after RD2 how can we just assume that a top-60 player in a given draft class should be a solid starter for 4 years? They have a higher probability of being a starter... but it's not a guarantee like you're making it out to be.
  16. Yes, a ton has been invested in the defensive line and the offensive line. Which tells me they know it's important - regardless of whether those guys they've acquired have all panned out they've put resources into the trenches. They're trying to balance present and future. Tons invested into the defensive line today, but Hughes, Addison, Butler, Obada, Phillips and Zimmer are free agents next year. Boogie was the best player on their board and they took him. He may not have filled an immediate need now, but he will be an inhouse replacement next year. Creed Humphrey was the only guy I think could have fit a short term and long term need. I guess that's the debate, but I understand the logic behind drafting Basham.
  17. That’s not what I was getting at… it’s loaded to list guys as “Pre-Beane” when they arrived the exact same off-season he did. I also didn’t say he was working for the Bills secretly… but to think having Beane 2 months earlier would significantly alter bringing in guys like Hyde, Poyer, Milano, White and Dawkins that same off-season doesn’t really line up with the way things function in a front office, particularly this one.
  18. Hahahaha this is so loaded 😂😂😂 5/6 of those guys were brought in during the off-season that Beane arrived (The other one is Hughes)… meaning McDermott brought them in less than 2 months before Beane arrived… to say there are 5 starters kicking around from the Pre-Beane era and use that as an argument for Beane not inheriting a bad roster is quite comical. They’re locked at the hip and operate under the same philosophy. The GM recommends and drafts players primarily based on the coaching staff’s scheme and philosophies Beane was going to be our GM from the moment McDermott was hired… do you really think that if Beane was hired in January we would have done anything significantly different from a personnel standpoint? This is a bizarre exercise. Name me a GM that’s found more than 2 stars/game changers since 2018? The list is short. Now tell me how many have found one at the most important position on the field. It’s not easy… it takes a lot of things to go right. It’s just as hard to find an abundance of quality starters/role players like he has. People need to recalibrate their expectations based off of reality… the reality is stars don’t grow on trees and drafting like Beane has makes him one of the best drafters in the league since taking over. Criticism is fine, as long as it’s based in reality. You need to compare him to his peers or else you’re just criticizing without understanding the full scope of the process.
  19. Any sort of objective measurement of draft success has the Bills near or at the top since Beane has arrived. The concept of draft success really goes over people’s heads around here.
  20. 31 points? I agree with you that they should have scored even more last night... but 31 is nothing to scoff at. The defense didn't do it's job.
  21. Thank you!!!🤝 🙏🙏🙏🙏
  22. I kind of love when we agree.
  23. It was really just that one big run… that’s all it ever takes with him. If he gets one it changes everything. The worst part is that one should have been called back. They were holding all game and it felt like nothing was called. The hold was akin to the one they called against Sanders on the Knox running TD. Very frustrating.
  24. We figured out KC last year in the regular season and didn’t execute well enough on offense. It happens. The moment in the AFCCG was too big… but we learned from it, added pieces that helped facilitate that game plan we had success with… and executed. Not all that different than what happened with the Ravens in 2019 before we adjusted in the 2020 playoffs. McDermott is very good at making adjustments from match up to match up defensively. He figures it out eventually. We’ve beaten Tennessee under McDermott. I think he’s 2-2 now? Obviously lost the last two… and last year was weird but it’s a loss. We very clearly don’t match up well at all… we’re built to beat the majority of NFL offenses that are pass heavy… our personnel doesn’t match up as well with Tennessee. Quite frankly when Henry is rolling that offense is basically unstoppable as long as Tannehill hits guys who are wide open off PA. That’s the best game the Titans have played all year. I think we know how to beat them, but once Henry gets going you see what happens. Everyone was overcommitting on defense… you could see it on every play. That’s not the level of discipline they usually play with… that’s why I’m not worried about it. They don’t play that way defensively all that often and now it gives them the opportunity to assess and address. I didn’t expect to sack Tannehill because I knew he’d get the ball out quick on purpose. I just wanted to contain Henry… the defense did their job early and gave the offense the opportunity to put them away… they didn’t right away and allowed Henry to remain a factor. We were just a hair late in making that happen.
  25. If 31 points on offense is mediocre I’m all for it. You’re talking about getting “no pressure on Tannehill” in your OP and now you’re talking about how we “didn’t sack Tannehill” which one is it? Pressure doesn’t have to be a sack. The defense played poorly last night… they’ve played at a high leve all year. They’ve mixed and matched defense strategies and had a lot of success doing different things to teams. They just stumped one of the most dominant teams over the last 3 years and held them to their worst performance outside of the Super Bowl.
