  1. They are. It's really indisputable. They're one of the best drafting teams in the NFL compared to their peers since arriving in 2017 (Yes, McDermott is part of the front office). It's proven with data and performance on the field. They're one of the best teams at getting value in FA compared to their peers since arriving in 2017. It's proven with data and performance on the field. They took a risk on one of the most polarizing prospects in the history of the sport... and got it right. They have a clear core values and a plan that they stick to, but they're also not afraid to make a splash when they know they need to (See Diggs, Stefon) They have 4-5 guys that are considered future NFL GMs in the front office. They've absolutely made mistakes... like all front offices do... it's inevitable. They've just done a really good job of minimizing those mistakes in comparison to their peers. Easily a top 3 front office in the league and I don't question them being considered the best.
  2. No, but a degenerative brain disease might. Still doesn’t make it any less tragic.
  3. The wellness program exists to get them in touch with medical professionals... it doesn't actually get them help nor does it magically save them if they do indeed get help.
  4. Is it reasonable to believe he could have gotten concussions in the 22 years of his life prior to entering the NFL where he also played football at a high level? As a rookie late in the 2010 season, Adams suffered a severe ankle injury that required surgery that included several screws being inserted into the leg. He never played for the 49ers again, getting released just before the 2011 season began. Later, with the Raiders, he had 2 concussions over 3 games in 2012. Not true in his case... Whether he suffered long-lasting concussion-related injuries wasn't immediately clear. Adams would not have been eligible for testing as part of a broad settlement between the league and its former players over such injuries, because he hadn't retired by 2014.
  5. I’m not excusing anything... what happened is tragic and disgusting. What if the cause of his rampage was a degenerative brain disease that greatly influences your ability to think rationally, causes suicidal and destructive thoughts and heightens impulsive behavior? He’s just a monster and that’s it? If you look up the symptoms one of them is “uncontrollable aggression.”
  6. I’m not giving anyone a pass? All I said was it seemed like it could be CTE and then said it was a tragedy... This is a poor response from you man... Do you understand how CTE works and what it does to your brain and ability to behave and think rationally? It doesn’t have the same effect on everyone. Ok. When they come out and say he had significant CTE then we can discuss it. That’s probably fair.
  7. Apparently the man he killed was a doctor that treated him. I hate to speculate but this seems like CTE. This is so sad. Those innocent people. It’s equally as sad how so many players end up in shambles.
  8. “They decided to take on that dead cap and it caused problems for them. They could have been competitive had they just tried to add to the roster.” Too many posters on here.
  9. This doesn’t make too much sense to me personally. He can be in his 4th NFL season and still be young... then again I don’t get off by telling 23 year olds they need to man up on message boards.
  10. Why would he even if he could? It would mean teams would have to treat him like a normal PS player and they’re less likely to use a spot on him because he’s learning how to play football... https://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2021/0121/1191130-christian-wade-rugby-nfl-interview/ "For me, it's knowing the protections and making sure I can react quickly. For me, that's the thing I have to have down solid for me to be able to be on the field and get regular reps." Let’s have him out there not knowing the protections or being unsure of himself. That’s injury waiting to happen for him and God forbid Josh. Wade understands what is happening. He’s even said Buffalo is the best spot for him... I don’t think he feels owned or indentured. He’s there to learn right now...
  11. He will be on the field for about 50% of the snaps on defense per data from both years he has been in Buffalo. If 50% of the snaps isn’t that much then sure...
  12. I don’t think you really understand what you’re talking about right now... Wade himself is on record saying he still has so much to learn and that the playbook still gives him difficulties, he’s still learning block concepts, etc. If you want to throw him out on the field on game day that’s cool... but you’d likely be the first to whine when he makes a mistake. He legitimately has 2 years of professional football experience... he’s a world class athlete learning a brand new sport... everyone knows he isn’t ready. Not if he’s part of the International program. Bills get an exemption and teams aren’t allowed to poach him.
  13. Except Star will help with that too... because it’s means interior players aren’t playing out of position anymore....
  14. This post defies all logic. There’s legitimately zero logic used here. Zero. Learn math.
  15. If the question was WR pairs (#1 and #2) I personally don’t think we’d be that high... probably top 10. WR I think we’re top 3 with Tampa Bay and Dallas in terms of raw talent. Atlanta might be on the periphery.
  16. Me too! I don’t disagree with this at all... not one bit. The good news is... our GM and HC have the exact same mindset. There without a doubt is still room for improvement... but improvement doesn’t have to come in the form of free agency. Would a big FA splash have been one way to improve this team? Absolutely. Is that the only way to improve this team? Absolutely not. I totally understand the need and want to see improvement... for it to be tangible. That’s what a feee agent signing is... it is SO much easier for everyone that way... Where we are right now... a lot of the improvement is going to come from player development... and unless you’re lucky enough to be there every day while these guys are training and playing... it’s going to be a little bit of an unknown for fans until they step on the field.
  17. He’s done a lot given the resources available and the circumstances. Of course there is more work to be done... everyone agrees there. With that being said, there is less work for Beane to do this off-season in terms of improving the Buffalo Bills than there was work to be done for Belichick improving the New England Patriots, or Grier improving the Dolphins or Douglas improving the Jets. Look at it this way... we had less money to spend because we had far less holes to fill. Money was already allocated towards building a competitive roster that ACTUALLY won games last year. The Jets, Patriots and Dolphins had money to spend because they didn’t have as many long term solutions across their roster to contribute to a winning football team. They’re spending money in an attempt to catch us... If we were like 8-8 last year and came into this year with no money to spend and Beane didn’t do anything to improve... yeah I’d be worried... but comparing what we’ve done this off-season to the other AFCE teams and the moves they HAD to make to TRY and get on level us isn’t really a fair or strong argument for the fact that we wouldn’t win the AFCE.
  18. Was he not supposed to spend money to improve the team to the point where they were 13-3 and in the AFCCG? I don’t really understand this train of thought... it’s not just you... I hear it a lot. No COVID and we’re sitting at $30M in cap space entering this off-season. We weren’t up against the cap the way he had it planned out... he’s a pretty meticulous guy. Things changed on a worldwide scale that nobody could foresee...
  19. Well let me pose this question... which teams in the AFCE have as much depth as us AND employ more elite players than us? Which teams in the AFCE don’t have holes at certain positions? You have to realize these teams are making bold moves to catch us... because they really were not anywhere near us over the course of 16 games. I’m not sure there’s a team with a more complete roster than us...
  20. We were really bad here early on. You’re not wrong... it was tough to watch the first 8 weeks or so. Coincidentally Edmunds and Milano were hurt during those first 8 weeks... once they healed up for the stretch run... we were just outside the Top 5 defensively. I expect another year of continuity helping. I expect Star (yes, he’s overpaid) coming back being a big help solely because DL aren’t playing out of position this year. He’s not an impact player but I think he plays an important role... at some point we can replace him for less... but he’s good at his job. I expect a slightly easier schedule to benefit us as well. I expect the confidence and camaraderie from a group that’s pretty much 100% returning to not only help those guys... but usher in a certain expectation for the few new guys and draft picks. We’re returning 21/22 starters from the AFC Championship game and the one spot where a starter isn’t returning we arguably upgraded... and still haven’t reached the draft.
