Sunday Ticket lawsuit alleges price fixing by the NFL
JGMcD2 replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not sure on this? $449 a year to stay home and watch 17 games. That's roughly $25 a game... is the average person really spending less than that each time they go and watch the game at a bar? It's probably a wash. -
I bought tickets to Training Camp one time, do I get a nickname?

You have 91 spots that need to get down to 53 (+ Practice Squad) You have 38 guys who won't make the roster. Do you allocate spots to 38 guys who have college and pro tape that you know likely won't make it? Or do you allocate 37 spots to guys who have college and pro tape that you know likely won't make it and then 1 to a World Class athlete that is a complete wild card? It's extremely low risk and with way more upside than any of the fringe NFL level players with a lifetime of experience. The lack of experience is the selling point here.

Kaiir Elam discussing the last 2 years & his struggles...
JGMcD2 replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
I cringe every time I read something as unaware and ridiculous as this. You don't think there is learning required to play CB in the NFL? There is a reason they get paid millions of dollars to do the job. It's really hard, when something is really hard, it requires learning. Nobody is disputing that the team won't move on if he doesn't improve, but I'm not sure why you're "cringing" at the prospect of learning from failure when science backs up it is a prerequisite for success. -
Yeah, that’s not how that works in most draft rooms either. In a healthy organization the coach is involved.

Alright, go ahead and make the argument that Rodemaker, Travis and Thorne are objectively better than Richardson and Ewers...
-
They’re objectively better players than Thorne, Travis and Rodemaker.
-
Quentin Johnston and Jonathan Mingo also played on two absolute dumpster fire teams, with dumpster fire offenses and QBs that have shown zero capability of elevating the players around them.

One thing that remains funny to me is how often people on this board paint McDermott as a control freak, while simultaneously giving him no credit for having a massive say in the selection and development plan of our "Parody of a QB Prospect" Joshua Patrick Allen.

Payton Thorne Jordan Travis (2024 5th Round Pick) Tate Rodemaker vs. CJ Stroud (2023 1st Round, 2nd Pick) Anthony Richardson (2023 1st, 4th Pick) Jayden Daniels (2024 1st Round, 2nd Pick) Michael Penix Jr. (2024 1st Round, 8th Pick) Quinn Ewers (Projected 2025 1st Round Pick) 🤷♂️

Marquez Valdes-Scantling meeting with the Bills (UPDATE: Signed)
JGMcD2 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't see a problem with signing a guy who can play 75% of Gabe Davis' role for 1/8 of the cost. -
Let's also ignore that he handpicked QBs twice and botched it. He's lucky he's been able to get something out of Purdy. Not many coaches get the chance to take 2 shots at finding their guy... You're mixing up your years, dude. 2017 was the Jaguars playoff game. The one where they held the Jaguars to 230 total yards and then the Jags went on to post almost 400 yards against Pittsburgh the next week and 300 against the Pats in the AFCCG before Bortles choked it away. LOL

Long snapper or shotgun snapper? I haven’t seen anything about him being a long snapper…

2015 Carolina Panthers: Have we ever been as good?
JGMcD2 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we’re just talking about that year, yeah it’s close. Otherwise Newton really wasn’t the good in comparison to Josh. Josh is consistently putting up Newton’s MVP numbers… Cam never came close to that type of production before or after 2015. I feel Cam was and is pretty overrated. -
2015 Carolina Panthers: Have we ever been as good?
JGMcD2 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s funny because Cam’s MVP season is pretty much what Josh has put up on average the past 4 years. People just get all hot and bothered by those 3 little letters. Same thing with Tyrod’s MVP season this year. -
This is true, unfortunately many here don’t want to understand the reality of how this all works. They have their own idea and stick with it. I equate arguments on this board to arguing with a 5 year old - you’ll never win. Why? Because 5 year olds don’t use logic when they argue.

Doubtful that Q. Morris goes anywhere.

Could the thought be that in a platoon with Cook (and syphoning some of Josh Allen's attempts) it's less likely these issues rear their ugly head? Davis already has the college wear and tear, but he's not likely to get the same type of volume that Hall and Etienne have been getting. The Jets ran the ball 388 times (29th in the NFL) last season - Breece Hall accounted for 223 of those. About 60% of the carries were Breece Hall. Dalvin Cook had 67 carries, Zach Wilson had 36 and Israel Abinikanda had 22. The Jaguars ran the ball 453 (17th in the NFL) times last season - Etienne accounted for 267 of those. About 60% of the carries were Travis Etienne. Trevor Lawrence has 70 carries, Tank Bigsby had 50 and D'Ernest Johnson had 41. The Bills ran the ball 512 times (5th in the NFL) last season - Cook accounted for 237 of those. About 45% of the carries were James Cook. Josh Allen had 111 carries, Latavius Murray had 79 and Ty Johnson had 30. For the sake of the exercise, let's say the Bills are able to run the ball over 500 times again next season. At a minimum I would think that Ray Davis assumes the 79 carries that Murray had. I think we would all hope that Josh Allen doesn't carry the ball over 100 times next year - let's say he dips down around the 75 times that Mahomes had to carry the ball last year. That would be another 36 carries. Then maybe he steals a few carries from James Cook as well, another 20? That puts Ray Davis at approximately 135 carries next year. That seems pretty realistic as to what we can support within the offense.

I would also prefer that Grable takes the 9th spot. In my mind the only way La'el Collins should make the team is if he dramatically outperforms Van Demark or Grable. Otherwise, go with the guys who are younger, cheaper and controlled longer. I do recall the mention of Will Clapp, but I didn't take that as Beane alluding to a better chance of making the roster than we think. It felt more like him saying they didn't feel any pressure to take a C as insurance for McGovern because they had already brought Clapp in. Same thing here for me, go with Van Pran-Granger (VPG) and take your chances with trying to put Clapp on the practice squad if you want the insurance after roster cut downs. For the record, I'm hopeful that VPG is able to play well enough at C to allow McGovern to move back to LG. I'll feel so much better about our offensive line if we're just replacing the C position and the rest is status quo. Dawkins (2027) - McGovern (2025) - Van Pran-Granger (2027) - Torrence (2026) - Brown (2024) Van Demark (2025) - Edwards (2025) - Anderson (2025) - Grable (2027) There's a chance this could be your OL room for 2024 and 2025 (possibly longer). Although I'm still somewhat skeptical we pursue an extension with Brown until after the season.

It's funny that you're commenting on things with such a negative slant while you have apparently zero idea as to how anything actually works. "Allen did not take the full restructure." Sir, Josh Allen doesn't have to agree to anything when it comes to a restructure. A restructure is taking the player's base salary and converting it to a signing bonus. It doesn't push any money down the road for Josh. He actually gets the money upfront in the form of a signing bonus, but the cap hit is spread evenly over the remainder of his contract. It's a lever that Brandon Beane pulls... not Josh Allen. He only restructured for what he needed, in order to avoid running up the cap hit in future seasons.

Yes, good note on Clayton. 16 PS spots and he’d be the “17th” due to the IPP exemption. -

Explaining in a little more detail where my mind was when I said that... We carried 9 OL on the 53 last year: Dawkins, Dion Brown, Spencer Torrence, O'Cyrus McGovern, Connor Morse, Mitch Bates, Ryan Edwards, David Anderson, Alec Van Demark, Ryan This year 7/9 OL are returning: Locks (5) Dawkins, Dion Brown, Spencer Torrence, O'Cyrus McGovern, Connor Edwards, David This is our presumed starting 5 OL. The only thing that could change is McGovern moving back to LG and Edwards moving back to a reserve role. High Probability to Make Roster (2) Van Demark, Ryan Anderson, Alec These guys are REALLY close to being locks in my opinion. The Bills signed Alec Anderson as an UDFA, and he spent all of 2022 on the practice squad and the entire 2023 season on the 53. Van Demark was a Colts UDFA in 2022 but like Anderson spent 2022 on our practice squad and all of 2023 on our 53. The Bills have invested a lot of time/resources into developing both players and I think they clearly have a leg up on the competition. New Veterans (3) Collins, La'el Clapp, Will Doyle, Tommy* Collins has some guarantees, but I don't think he's a guarantee to make the roster, although that likely gives him a leg up. I don't think Clapp has a chance to make the roster unless there is an injury at the C position. Tommy Doyle fits here because he's coming off injury, but made the roster in 2021 and 2022, likely would've made it in 2023 before a season ending injury - he's fighting an uphill battle. Drafted Rookies (3) Van Pran-Granger, Sedrick Grable, Tylan Clayton, Travis The way Beane spoke about Clayton after the draft, it seems like they've banking on him being the 17th guy on the Practice Squad. My gut tells me that Van Pran-Granger is nearly a lock for the reserve C role (I think this is possible with McGovern and Edwards being able to play G) and pundits seem to think he could end up starting for us this year. Grable is competing for a reserve T role with the likes of Collins, Doyle and Van Demark, if not he's likely another hopeful Practice Squad stash for Beane. After walking through it I feel pretty comfortable saying we can predict who 8/9 lineman will be on the 53. Dawkins, Dion Brown, Spencer Torrence, O'Cyrus McGovern, Connor Edwards, David Anderson, Alec Van Demark, Ryan Van Pran-Granger, Sedrick That leaves Collins, Clapp, Doyle, Grable, Clayton, Edwards, Britton and Bills competing for 1 spot. Jordan Schultz suggested that Keaton Bills *SHOULD* make this team. I just think that it's going to be an uphill battle for any of the UDFA to break camp on the 53.- 227 replies

Too bad nobody fears our QB…
