T. Graham's new Peters article

Funny. How many LT's can handle elite pass rushers one on one? Isn't that what makes those rushers elite? -

I tend to agree with your "glass half empty" analysis, except I had no issue with Josh Reed last year. -
So this means that the front office "inner circle" leaks information to select Bills alumni, letting them know what moves they are trying to make? I guess this was Thurman's reward for publicly proclaiming that the Bills stink? How absurd is that?

Well said. I am also a WNY expatriot and when I'm able to come back to WNY to visit the place I love, the landscape here is very stark - closed down businesses, boarded up buildings, no traffic, no construction, no activity compared to the southwest. It makes sense that if you live in WNY you don't really realize how far behind WNY has fallen economically.

The answer is, successfully regionalize/partner with Toronto. This quote from Erie County Executive Chris Collins says it all. “I’m supportive of anything we need to do to keep the Bills in Western New York,” Collins said Monday, endorsing the team’s strategy to strengthen its appeal in southern Ontario. The key to keeping the Bills in Western New York is making the team more valuable for whomever the owner ends up being,” he said. It's either more games in Toronto, or bye bye Bills. Short of a miraculous economic turnaround in WNY, there is no other quick way of infusing cash into the franchise except via Toronto.

Does anybody know when the 2009 schedule comes out? Have been unable to find anything definitive.

Anyone concerned about EDWARDS this season

This is the primary issue. Apparently the FO doesn't realize that defensive backs can't protect the QB. -
Toronto trying to get more games from Buffalo
BillnutinHouston replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I suppose it is a chicken and egg debate. Those in the "chicken" camp will say that better cash flow will lead to winning, and the "egg" camp can say that winning will lead to better cash flow. The problem is, our owner seems to be a chicken guy so you can either get on his side or keep debating, but just remember that he holds the purse strings. -
Toronto trying to get more games from Buffalo

I'm afraid that WNY needs to get used to the idea of a true Niagara-region franchise. The Bills will either get regional or they will get on down the road. I find it amusing how some are determined to shut out Toronto, yet look on in frustration at the thought that our last free agent signing will be Pat Thomas. You don't get the connection? As it is, the Bills' weak local market dictates that they command the lowest ticket prices in the league and likely are near the bottom of the NFL in advertising revenues. Yet we cling to the hope of a playoff appearance. Are we nuts, unrealistic or just clueless? Time to get our heads out of the sand and realize just how much the weak WNY market holds back the competitiveness of this franchise. Two or three games in Toronto is a NECESSITY if we want watchable football - and whether we LIKE it or not is immaterial. -
Thanks Marv. Your legacy lives on...

Bialy's constant use of awkward analogies always annoyed me, but what really sent me over the edge was this week's article about TO and the assignment of #81. All of us biased but close observers of the team saw ABSOLUTELY no signs from any players or FO staff of even the slightest bit of dissention involved in the assignment of #81, but the national media jumped on this "story" and tried to create controversy where there simply was none. Bialy's one and only saving grace with TBD fans (or me at least) was the possibility that his sole focus on the Bills might translate into an occasional unique insight that national observers could not or would not provide. But Bialy blew that one positive by taking the #81 story in the same direction as the national media without ANY factual basis for doing so. That might have been his attempt to look "big time" by taking the cynical angle, but this choice confirms for me that I no longer need to suffer through his terrible writing in the hope that there may be an interesting insight buried within his articles.

If I was Cutler I would ask the Bills "Have you signed Peters yet? Don't call me until you do."

Patriots Primed to Make a Run at Peppers

The Patriots are basically daring us to sign Peters. -
Take a look at the salary cap page (even without the TO update) then look at the gaping hole on the left side of our OL. Someone please explain to me what we are doing?

My plan for Jason Peters and the Bills
BillnutinHouston replied to Leonidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the odds are pretty good that the Bills are exploring these types of scenarios already, behind the scenes, if for no other reason than to help them do "market research" to see how much Peters is truly worth paying should they decide to keep him. You owe it to yourself not to enter high stakes negotiations in a vacuum without understanding the current market. And I think he is worth a boatload on the open market. A young franchise Pro Bowl LT doesn't come on the open market very often and I don't think 3 or 4 first day picks are out of the question. The issue is not what he's worth to the Bills, but what he is worth to other teams - that is what drives the market. If you are the Bills and find that the street FA you picked up a few years ago has turned into the golden ticket, you have to look at trading that for the chance to fill out your roster with quality at several positions. -
So in other words, thanks Marv for creating the monster that is now our Jason Peters.

Browns due 30mil in bonus today...
BillnutinHouston replied to Buffalo Mike1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting article. Makes me think maybe we underappreciate Overdorf and Littman. The problem is, maybe Overdorf and Littman do their job (saving the Bills money) too well. -
In my opinion a variable more important to this offense than Turk's play calling will be giving T.E. the freedom to call audibles at the line. Since we hear that T.E. is so bright, Turk should let him use this strength to get us out of bad plays. If you have T.O., Evans and Lynch on the field at the same time, you should have the ability to put at least one of them in a position to make a positive play. The odds only increase if you let the QB make adjustments at the line.

Terrell Owens to be on Toronto Radio today
BillnutinHouston replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Bills fans try to put up a wall around WNY to keep the status quo, the team will end up looking like Main Street downtown. Yes, it will be ALL YOURS, AND YOURS ALONE. But will you really want it?
