  1. 1) This franchise has a fan base that takes a licking and keeps on ticking. 2) Great throwbacks. 3) Great tailgating atmosphere. Funny (or sad) that the greatest strengths of the franchise are all external to the football operation.
  2. Based on Ralph's known bias in favor of the "known commodity", I would say Buddy has the inside track on the GM job if he wants it. It's also interesting that we have heard about the Bills contacting coaching candidates but not GM candidates - I hope that means they've already targeted Nix as the new GM. I think he has the contacts, experience with winning programs, and familiarity to Ralph to be considered the favorite at this point.
  3. Any more details on the chutney?
  4. Do you have a link to the Bills releasing this information weeks ago? I wasn't aware of that. Of course the point of my thread was the timing of news coming from THE BILLS.
  5. Did you notice how they held onto the Shanahan rejection for a week or so before releasing it, until they could dribble out the Weis news the next day. Obviously the timing was meant to take the sting out of the Shanahan rejection as well as the pathetic shellacking by the Falcons. Russ, quit spinning us and just put a good product on the field. Don't you realize that winning is the best marketing? I suppose you do know that, you're just not capable of it. And quit talking to head coaching candidates - bring in a real GM to run things!
  6. Lynch has proven himself to be a complete dud after coming off his suspension. Clearly has physical skills yet lacks one or more of the following: vision, burst, decisionmaking, ability to get onto the hips of his offensive linemen. Freddie is clearly superior at getting more out of every play. Yet you need a decent 2nd back. Do you try to bait another team into giving up something decent in return for his "promise", or just resign yourself to having him as your #2 back until his next suspension? Can he be coached up for next year? Curious what ya'll think.
  7. Correct. Playing QB for the Bills has to be one of the most hazardous jobs in the US.
  8. Agree! Of course we are desperate for any glimmer of hope so people see an "in your face" when it was just a discussion. No acrimony displayed at all. If anything it was Owens telling Brohm he forgives him for the bad throw.
  9. True, but it's more a reflection of our weak OL than thr QBs. Do you see Chambers out there? He has no business putting on a football uniform.
  10. Wow - someone actually thinks the fans can stop a team from moving? Really?
  11. Mr. Guy, it's bad enough that we've had to endure your terrible work for years. Now you're asking us to do your work for you?
  12. I think the biggest immediate impact of the uncapped year on the Bills, is in the search for a new coach and GM. Any prospective GM or coach would DEMAND to know what the Bills' approach will be, knowing this will have a huge impact on their future success.
  13. I used to think so too, but when you consider that 2010 represents a one-year window in which the estate tax is suspended, selling in 2010 does make sense. If it doesn't happen in 2010, we will all have to wait until Ralph passes.
  14. I say leave all the QB's alone and pick up a LT. Better bet to not be a bust.
  15. I do not know if these projects will ever pan out. The point is, a team that hasn't sniffed the playoffs for 10 years has NO BUSINESS drafting projects.
  16. Wow, that's a high standard. Are you sure you want to go on the record with that statement?
  17. This is speculation, admittedly based on historical evidence. However, I think even the most stubborn of cheapskates can be moved by the reality of the approaching grave and ten+ years of futility. These can be powerful motivators to change your ways. Time will tell.
  18. You act like McKelvin's giveaway to NE was a one time thing. He came out immediately after and said HE'D DO IT AGAIN. OK, maybe his INTs beat KC last year, but then he gave away the NE game. Being 1-1 as a difference maker is unacceptable from a first round pick, as least to me. Do you remember the article earlier this year in which Perry Fewell, king of soft coverage, called him out for playing such soft coverage, saying that his typical 10 yard buffer was unacceptable from a first round pick? Those who refuse to hold our early picks to tough standards have no basis to complain when their team continually misses the playoffs. Y'all can be as patient as you want, I expect more.
  19. Most interesting thing I've read so far today. If Ralph sells a piece of the team in 2010, it would be a win-win-win. Ralph's family pockets a tidy sum (not subject to the estate tax), he sets the wheels in motion to keep the team in WNY, and any move toward a reduced role for Ralph is a win for the fans.
  20. So what is the new ground broken here? What's the reason that we were not thinking?
  21. Really? McKelvin's a first round pick who plays a soft corner, he cost us the first game (then said he'd do the same thing again, fighting for meaningless yards when the game's on the line) then left with injury, and was picked in a year when we needed LB, DL and OL help, which is indicative of a clueless front office. Um, he's a perfect fit.
  22. OK, maybe, but he proved himself incompetent to even be on the kick coverage team - in the clutch today he cost us a possssion and a chance to tie the game. Thanks, you training camp holdout and $25 million first rounder.
  23. Which players, and in which categories am I premature?
  24. 1) All first round picks 2) All softies 3) All are far more mouth than playmaker 4) All cost us games 5) All wasted picks 6) All are major indictments of a weak, clueless front office
