Culpepper wants to play for the Bills
BillnutinHouston replied to Numark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone really expect to hear words of truth coming from the mouths of HC's or GM's in the weeks leading up to the draft? -
Correct. The most weighty issue that Russ Brandon or Ralph Wilson should be allowed to strategize on now, is the endzones - green or red?

2010 Important NFL Dates

Can't vouch for this website, but here's a link confirming a mid-April schedule release date. -
I hope this is just due diligence...McCoy
BillnutinHouston replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've seen quite a bit of McCoy - no thanks. He may resemble Drew Brees in stature, but not in play. Sure he looks great against Sam Houston State, but not so hot against top competition. -
I do not have your answer but you would think that since a) they have a new head coach b) new GM and Assistant GM c) new strength and conditioning coaches, and d) several players may be playing new positions ...many players would be working out in Buffalo this offseason. If players on our roster aren't willing to do it this year of all years, then their commitment is questionable. At a minimum they should be fully communicating with the S&C coaches to make sure they are headed in the right direction with their respective private workout regimens.

State of the Franchise...Buffalo

If it was Mayock or Lombardi, maybe, but I think I'll pass on hearing Marshall Faulk's "analysis". -
The Marketing Genius of the Buffalo Bills
BillnutinHouston replied to McClane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone noted that they also received this photo, except it had their own name listed on the scoreboard. I guess the whole point of the photo was not to display the great football being played, but rather to use the marketing gimmick of a photo showing a real NFL play with YOUR NAME on the scoreboard in the background. If that was the point, then they had to use a photo taken from an endzone, in order to get the scoreboard in the shot. Still, you would have thought they could have found, after much digging, a photo of a receiver about to catch a ball, with the scoreboard in the background, that they could use to display the season ticket holder's name on the scoreboard. -
So what would you call someone who took the time to READ the report of such a so-called loser?

Bills at Appalachian State Pro Day
BillnutinHouston replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked the QB's quote - Edwards I think his name is - when asked which NFL team he would like to play for. "Beggars can't be choosers" he said. He's got "Buffalo Bill" written all over him. -

What I make note of here is the comments on Byrd. I, like the author, am not quite ready to anoint him as a star simply based on his gaudy 2009 numbers - many of his picks were easy IMO. Whether they were just thrown to him or whether Byrd put himself in a position to make them look easy, is an open question for smarter football minds than I. Time will tell. As I consider my level of football knowledge, skimpy though it is, I'm comforted to know that I'm not the only one who thinks Byrd may be a bit overrated at this stage of the game. -
Vikings sign Jimmy Kennedy
BillnutinHouston replied to silvermike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing personal, I'm sure you are a smart person but your theory is really dumb. In your mind, what percentage of the fan base is successfully appeased by these so-called artificial attempts at signing someone decent? Assuming you are not one of those, what make you think others are? -

Your new GM is a top-level experienced scout. Your new GM says he wants to build through the draft primarily. Your new GM says he wants a coaching staff of good teachers. Your new GM replaces pro personnel Guy (literally) with a guy from Pittsburgh, known for building through the draft. Your new GM says he wants to expand scouting staff. What part of this plan is hard to understand? Now we just need to unload more tradeable dead weight (Whitner, Marshawn), trade out of the #9 spot and get more picks, and it starts to come together. -
Nix is passing on quality free agents

I really like Nelson as a player and think he's only going to get better - so I can't buy into your argument there. The WR position (Hardy and Johnson), I'm not so sure about and I think we could have taken away some question marks there thru free agency. -
Bills and Browns to meet with Spikes

Yea, meetings are cheap. And as an added benefit, they create an effective smokescreen as to your true intentions. -

Everyone seems to be locked onto the 3-4 direction, but most seem to have missed the nuance in Edwards' and Gailey's comments about their plans for the 2010 defense. At the end of the day, George Edwards is going to run more 4-3 than many think. If you go back and read his and Gailey's comments, they both stated they intend to use the talents of what they have. So while I think they are looking to get 4-3 players in here, they are conceding that completely turning over the defensive roster in one offseason is tough to do so they will go with a hybrid this year. -
