  1. How about his one? "I've never been around a guy that's very conscientious of what offensive plays set up other plays," quarterback Trent Edwards said. "He's doing a lot of motion and shifting, trying to disguise a certain play so it doesn't look like it's the same to the defense." Clearly, on both defense and offense we have significantly upgraded our coaching.
  2. It's interesting that Lynch didn't report to the first set of OTAs, because he said (per the article in Yahoo Sports) that he would be reporting this week. I guess he changed his mind?
  3. Based on the draft selections and Gailey's run-first philosophy, I would say we are being built more in the image of the Baltimore Ravens than any other team. That being the case, I'm not sure I agree with you that it's all about the QB.
  4. This article is the first I've seen that directly links Ralph to canning the no-huddle. I guess I should have realized that a coach isn't likely to be the one to scrap an offense just a week before the start of the season. Mercurial Ralph strikes again! Link "Last year the Bills brought in Turk Schonert as an offensive coach to install a no-huddle offense that the club worked on exclusively through all the organized team activities, mini-camps, training camp and up until a week before the season when word came down that the owner was disgusted by the no-huddle."
  5. I vote for the throwback jerseys with the white helmet & pants. The helmet needs to be white (using either the standing or charging buffalo).
  6. Is this a perk for season ticket holders, or did you get it just because you're nice?
  7. Conceptually, you are absolutely, totally, 100% correct. Any other way of thinking is typical old-style Buffalo - isolated, insular, backward thinking.
  8. Can someone answer these questions? REVENUE: 1) Exactly how does a Bills move to NF generate "new money" to pay for higher ticket prices and higher-cost luxury box contracts? 2) Do WNY sports fans suddenly get richer and more able to pay for higher-priced tickets as a result of this move? No. So I guess all the ADDITIONAL revenue to the Bills would come from a huge influx of NEW Canadian fans and corporations? Really? Who thinks this move would spur a wave of NEW Canadian fans/corporations big enough to turn around revenue numbers? DEBT: 3) Who inherits the massive construction debt from the new stadium - NYS taxpayers or the franchise? Is NYS willing to absorb this debt? If it's the franchise assuming the debt, how does this new debt service improve the team's bottom line over where it is now (with ZERO stadium debt)? It's great for Kelly to talk about a move to NF. It's a nice dream, but who's run the numbers for him, and how solid are the assumptions that underlie those numbers?
  9. Exactly. It's a game of chicken at this point.
  10. Offseason's going painfully slow for me too as I have a few Bills field trips planned with the kids this year that I'm psyched about. Other vacation plans will keep me busy for some of the offseason but in the meantime, it would be nice if a new Bills article came out more often than once a week.
  11. No it's not. Let's burn Modrak in effegy! /sarcasm off/
  12. The official roster as posted on the Bills website also has Spiller as #21.
  13. So a player who's been gone 10 years (or even 1?) gets inside info on who makes decisions in the war room? I don't believe it. If that's the case, then the rest of the NFL knows our business, too.
  14. Great points. Thanks for exposing Gabe's anti-Modrak agenda. Obviously what goes into draft decisions, and how those selections perform on a given team, is more complex than Gabe is willing to acknowledge.
  15. If Byrd had won the re-vote, would your self-esteem improve? Would the Bills' 6-10 record last year improve? I could care less about the re-vote. Let's quit looking back and move forward already. I can't help but think Byrd was not as good last year as his numbers suggest, anyway.
  16. After having to give up my season tix when I moved away from WNY, I decided to jump back in this year and will be flying back for a few games. Had to go for club seats just to get decent seats, but I feel good about supporting this institution. Anyone who abandons their own personal family tradition to make some kind of a "statement" to the team is only cutting off their nose to spite their face. I think each of them will regret it, especially when the footballs start flying in September. It may be that WNYers who've had to relocate to another area of the country are in the best position to appreciate how truly special it is for a city the size of Buffalo to have the Bills. The small size of the market makes for an intimacy between the team and the fans that is unmatched in the NFL, with the possible exception of Green Bay. After spending most of the year away from WNY, when I pull in to the RWS parking lot on a Sunday and see the sea of blue jerseys, flags and (Labatt's) blue beer cans, I get the feeling of being "home" in a way that no other activity can provide. There will be no do-overs - if the team is forced to leave WNY, they will never be back and an institution will be lost forever.
  17. Why are you so sure that Schobel won't be back? As I understand it, he's due to make about $6 million this year which may be ample motivation for him to go one more year. And unless Chan's public statements so far (very "soft line" on forcing him to make a decision) have been a complete smokescreen, Chan seems to be willing to give Schobel pretty wide latitude.
  18. Let's not even compare Gore and Bush on global warming. One is a raging hypocrite on the subject, the other is not.
  19. Me too! I think Spiller in the slot will scare opposing defenses.
  20. Yea, the immediate turnoff for me was the first line stating that the two teams have an agreement in "principal". As we all know, a principal is the head of a school. Did they mean "principle"? Or was it a deal struck in the principal's office?
  21. If you like American history, "John Adams" is a must-see.
  22. Did anyone else catch this in the bb.com article yesterday about the free agent guard we signed from Georgia Tech? "Howard (6’4” 314) was a 1st Team All-ACC performer in 2009 for the Yellow Jackets at guard helping Tech rank second in the country in rushing (295 ypg). This Georgia Tech stat was a new one on me - very impressive. Apparently Gailey knows how to build a running game. With this background and the addition of Spiller in the first round (as opposed to focusing on a QB) I happen to think that Buddy and Gailey are building this team with the singular focus of becoming a hard-nosed, run-first, Baltimore Ravens type team. I do see things coming together in that direction. I like the plan, and the focus on a single identity.
