  1. Interesting thought in Madden World, but the flaw here is relying on Bill Belichick's misinformation and extrapolating that into an actual plan.
  2. ^^ This is the right answer.
  3. With regard to Whitner, I'm not seeing what you are. But I will say, he is great at making tackles after the first down is made.
  4. I've been following Nelson pretty closely ever since the home opener. I flew up to Bflo from TX on the same plane as his fiancee's family, and by coincidence, ran into them again (along with the fiancee) at the gate at the Ralph. Of course, Nelson was pretty unknown then. His fiancee's family told me all about his Florida days, good Christian boy, hard worker, etc. Interestingly, his fiancee is a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader so she rarely gets to watch his games. Has Nelson dropped anything yet? Maybe one ball?
  5. This is my view as well.
  6. I think these last 3 games will determine what we draft for. If we go 2-1, we will not use a high draft pick on a QB. My own preference would be to go DL with the first pick. The only exception would be if Luck is available.
  7. I assume you didn't mean this literally.
  8. Yes, stats dictate the present and future. That is why life always stays the same, bad teams are bad forever, and good teams are good forever.
  9. I'd say I hope our GM makes that decision based on what happens between the white lines rather than what happens behind a podium.
  10. Am I the only one who is somewhat mystified by Buddy's statement that he plans to "build through the draft"? To me this statement begs a ton of questions that I've not heard the answer to. Can any of you enlighten me? Specifically, here are my questions: 1) How does this approach offer a competitive advantage for one team over another? EVERY TEAM gets to draft from the same pool of players, so presumably your plan for improvement relative to your competition involves not only a) improving your draft classes over past (dismal) history but b) consistently drafting better than your competition, because they are drafting the same time you are. 2) Is "building through the draft" really just code language for "no quality free agents will come here, and we don't have enough money to build that way anyway, so we'll have to build through the farm team approach and see how far we get fielding a team consisting of players in their initial contracts, several lower-tier free agents and a select group of "name" free agents"? 3) Have the Bills significantly upgraded their college scouting resources to achieve an ability to consistently outdraft the competition? Nix was plucked from the scouting ranks to become GM, and Whaley was added on the pro personnel side, so what COLLEGE scouting personnel were added to replace Nix? Here is the college scouting group in the front office now (according to the Bills website): Tom Modrak Vice President of College Scouting Doug Majeski Coordinator of College Scouting Darrell Moody National Scout Rashaan Curry College Scout Brian Fisher College Scout Brad Forsyth College Scout Matt Hand College Scout Shawn Heinlen College Scout Tom Roth College Scout Dave G. Smith Scout Emeritus Dave W. Smith Scout Emeritus Jacky Kosmowski Scouting Assistant Michael LaFlamme Scouting Assistant C.J. Leak BLESTO Scout 4) Has there been a conclusion drawn that the quality or quantity of the scouting itself is not the problem, it's draft day decisionmaking that has led the Bills astray? Is the approach to achieve "addition by subtraction" by changing the decisionmaking process or excluding certain unnamed individuals from the draft room? If that conclusion was drawn, has Buddy succeeded in weeding out the questionable decisionmakers? Thoughts anyone? What does Buddy's plan really entail?
  11. My name is Billnutinhouston and I own a pair of season tickets. Crazy? Maybe, but it all depends on your personal situation. Before I bought them, I mapped out a plan where I would go to two games, with the rest going to charity - Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Erie County. That plan just happens to work for me. This was my first year and I plan to do it again. To the OP - it might sound strange coming from me but personally, if I was you I would NOT plan to commute from Albany, that's too far away to drive consistently.
  12. Is Carimi projected to be a RT in the NFL? I thought I saw him lined up at LT this past weekend for Wisc.
  13. I started to suspect after last week that maybe Chan finally knows what he has and is developing the offense properly. In their two wins, they have showed great competitiveness and grit. Even defensively, they seem to have made solid halftime adjustments recently (over the last 3 weeks). Now today, they clearly played very competitively with one of the top 5-8 teams in the league. While I am frustrated with Stevie "Hollywood" Johnson's terrible showing today, looking big picture, I'm encouraged. It is clear that we will be other teams' worst nightmare over the remainder of the year. We have come off the bottom and are on the rise. Just a bit of consolation I thought I'd share.
  14. I'd love to know if the Troy pick was tipped in Stevie's hands, or if he just dropped that one too. Is it possible Stevie dropped TWO game winners today?
  15. Can someone clarify specifically how Ralph is a "least impressive stadium" and what that means in real terms? Please tell me, how does the Ralph (not the Buffalo market) limit the franchise as far as revenue potential? The Ralph is functional, provides (in my opinion) more than enough club seats, boxes and amenities FOR THE BUFFALO MARKET, allows for good sightlines from everywhere, what am I missing? How would a new stadium IN BUFFALO, with all of the debt service attached to it, and with BUFFALO'S limited spending power, afford a new owner any advantages over the Ralph?
  16. Obviously Johnson is immature. What's Evans' excuse?
  17. Personally, I love the guy's initiative. Putting his Finance degree (or whatever) to good use and actually trying to make a difference with it. And when you read the guy's plan it is impressive conceptually.
  18. Error Maybe - good one, but the truth is more like "Error Definitely".
  19. I hope that Byrd's play this year is explained by his health, but I said even last year that I thought he was overrated. I still think so, but again I hope I'm wrong.
  20. I like when he tries tracking down Linehan after the game, then when someone tells him he already went in the tunnel, Fitz says "tell him I said hi".
  21. Try telling that to Roscoe.
  22. Not sure what the post has to do with the thread title, but I do agree with the thread title - they are learning how to win. It sets up an interesting battle next week vs. the Steelers.
  23. I saw most of the first half, and Luck looked phenomenal. He's built real thick (body type reminds me of another pretty good QB who played for the Bills), has good wheels, tremendous vision and arm. Willing to stand in the pocket and find his second and third receivers. It was funny how the commentators could not contain themselves with excitement about this kid - they kept saying that the Cal defense was usually pretty stout but Luck was having his way with it. Barring something unexpected happening between now and April, if Buddy has a shot at him, he will break the all time record getting that pick in. Count on it.
