Good article on UDFA S Delano Howell making the team
BillnutinHouston replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Personally, I give the guy major props. To beat the odds and climb uphill to make this roster, is pretty impressive. -
Every time I focus on Cordy, especially on pass plays, I'm pleased. I have not seen him get beat in pass pro yet. Even when his man gets a step on him, Cordy's able to use his long arms to lock onto the guy and push him to the outside of the pocket. I think that Gilmore, Glenn and Graham could end up being the best 1,2,3 pick combination we've drafted in an eternity.

My take on the Preseason "Game Plan"
BillnutinHouston replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was with you totally on your analysis until you said Are you concerned because of what you saw last year, or what you saw in preseason? Hopefully your concern is based on what you saw last year, because I thought the point of your post was that they were not trying to win in preseason, just work on very specific things regardless of the circumstances. If this is your overall point (which I agree with BTW), then it likely explains why the first team O hasn't run much in preseason. Personally, I'm not concerned about any playcalling tendencies shown in preseason. I think it's pointless to try to identify trends in preseason play calling and then think those trends will carry over into the regular season. -
Thanks! If anyone knows what time Abbott is blocked off, that would be helpful. I come via Southwestern so I guess depending on what time I arrive I may have to drive around and approach Abbott from the south to get into Hammer's.
-
Hammer, I requested a general spot for the opener. Is there a map that shows which portions of Abbott Road are closed to traffic?

I think if Fitz flames out this year, Buddy will offer draft picks as necessary to trade up and get the guy they want.

Steelers Luck goes awry, top two draft picks out
BillnutinHouston replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure you didn't mean that the way it sounded. When you read the article above, it makes it sound like we won the game. When you consider that our first string D held the Steelers to 1.8 yards per carry, maybe it wasn't as bad as we think it was. -

My assessment tonight...
BillnutinHouston replied to Frostbelt City's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure what you are basing this on, but did you know that according to NFL.com, the Bills finished 2011 as the 14th ranked offense out of 32 teams? -

Thanks Kelly. Do they have graphics showing down and distance before each play? -
Bills 2010 Draft... really terrible
BillnutinHouston replied to HeHateMe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't blame Buddy for 2010. -
When Murph was interviewing Jairus Byrd on his show yesterday, it was mentioned that at practice yesterday they took the speaker out of the MLB's helmet and put it in Byrd's. This was explained as just making sure other guys can make calls when needed, but I couldn't help but think it reflects on Shep. I hope I'm wrong.

Annoying "NFLSpeak". Mine is "no question".

"I'll have to watch the film (or tape)." -
Lots of "experimentation". What do you think?
BillnutinHouston replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A very interesting premise to this thread. If correct, I think this could point to the brain trust thinking they are pretty good OR they don't want to put too much on tape. -
Fitz watches the Bachelor with his wife

OK, I bought a Fitz jersey this year but after reading this, I'm having some buyer's remorse. Hoping Fitz's response is just due to camp fatigue. -
Interesting tidbit regarding Wannstedt.
BillnutinHouston replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Appears that Giff Smith and Bob Sanders (former DC from Green Bay) will be on the field relaying Wannstedt's calls. Dave has a plan and he's comfortable with it. Quote: “I will be in the coach’s box,” said Wannstedt. ”That’s where I was all of the years at the University of Miami, Oklahoma State, Dallas and some of the other places. There is not a call happening that you are not on top of or involved with. I am kind of excited about it; We have great assistant coaches and a nice formula set on how we will communicate and get the information back and forth, which will work smooth.” Wannstedt will presumably make use of both defensive line coach Giff Smith and linebackers coach Bob Sanders to deliver plays from the sideline. Sanders is a former defensive coordinator from his days in Green Bay." http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/08/08/wannstedt-to-be-upstairs-on-game-day/ -

Nix's UDFA/Waiver Wire grade
BillnutinHouston replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think his adds, especially with Urbik, Rinehart and Chandler have been excellent. I vaguely recall reading that Buddy pulled some type of procedural "fast one", or maybe it was some kind of head fake (leading Cowboy staff to think he coveted a player on their team, so they protect him only to then have Buddy swoop in and take the player they really wanted) that landed Chandler. Anyone else recall this? I also think that while Buddy's an excellent talent evaluator, a complete perspective has to take into account that Buddy has benefitted from inheriting a very favorable waiver wire "order" - in his first few years he had nearly the first pick of the waiver wire availables. -
Reddog, can you be more specific - what was it about Houston that you liked? Stadium, atmosphere, city, etc? I haven't been to Reliant for a football game yet but I bought tickets to the Bills game this year and can't wait.
