I think Schefter's correct on Buddy - he'll stay, Chan will go. While Fitz's play has made it clear (in retrospect) that Buddy has badly mishandled the QB position, he has to (and will) promise two things to Mr. Wilson to enable him to keep his job: 1) replace Chan, and 2) promise to pick a QB in the first round, or get one in free agency.

People need to read in context. Haley's name was cited as an example, not a serious consideration. Re-read the article. In the sentence on Haley its says "say Haley", meaning his name was only thrown out as an example. Geez.

I presume this is based on info. from either the players themselves or their agents. Is it possible that the sources leaked to the AP (jw?) for self serving reasons, and not out of an interest in telling the truth?

I think you've put your finger on the key thing. Coming out of a full camp they go for Trent over Fitz, give him a game or two, then throw Trent overboard. Then jump on the Fitz bandwagon, see him "do it" a few times and then lock into him for 3 years with no serious effort to develop any future capacity behind Fitz. It now is crystal clear that Fitz is not the answer, but the cupboard's bare and we bear the stench of desperation coming into the draft season. Just too slow evaluating talent and not preparing for the future at the most critical position on the team.

I don't believe this rumor for a minute, but I also don't buy the silly theory that past Bills coaching searches have been PR stunts. Exactly how many tickets/jerseys were sold in the short timeframe between the Shanahan news and Gailey's hiring? Few if any. Also, why would the Bills brass purposely become the boys that cried wolf? Might that hurt their credibility with other candidates in the future? If you believe this theory, the Bills are far worse off than anyone realizes.
