  1. Agree 100%. Thought I'd like the blue pants on the road, but white on white is much sharper looking. If they keep the blue road pants in the closet permanently, I think they'll have succeeded in elevating their uniforms to the NFL's top tier.
  2. Is a player that in successive weeks fumbles away the game, then tips a relatively easy reception for an interception, and in both weeks minimizes the impact of those plays, a good player that a 4-9 team should keep? How does this fit into Marrone's template of "accountability"?
  3. Who among us hasn't been wrong in our assessment of a player? Which NFL GMs haven't been wrong? Who among us hasn't changed our views about a player? Which NFL GMs haven't changed their views of a player? The only difference between a columnist and the rest of us is that they have to put all their opinions on paper (or the web) for all to see and dig up years after the fact. My own opinion of Stevie has wavered over the years, but at this point he has minimized his own costly mistakes two weeks in a row, in fact is almost in denial about how those mistakes impacted the game. That is the antithesis of leadership. You could live with that occasionally if the Bills were in first place, but for a team still learning how to win, you simply can't have that from one of your highest paid guys. Stevie must be purged, and I believe he will be, at a time that's most advantageous to the Bills.
  4. You quote a great movie. We'll see how the clip idea goes.
  5. I'm pretty sure Biuddy brought in new scouts as well, just too busy today to look it up.
  6. Yea but the owner thinks he's doing a pretty good job.
  7. There may have been a serious point to the OP's post. To that I would respond, hasn't the NFL draft order system, revenue sharing and the salary cap addressed most of the inequity concerns that can be addressed? What other aspects of low market/high market is correctable?
  8. Sitting across from a Cowboys fan in a meeting now, and smiling to myself.
  9. The Bills and the NFL are a business. So, um, money is kind of important. News flash: it will be to the next owner, too.
  10. If I was his coach, or yours, my attitude would be, fine. You can sit and I'll find someone who will sacrifice their body to make a play to help us win. There are many waiting in the wings to take your place.
  11. Why would either of these guys be cut? CJ is not playing well but hasn't ever shown a bad attitude. The same with Gilmore, except he's playing better recently. In my opinion, Stevie's shown himself to be the weak link and clearly hasn't shown he deserves his big salary. His casual attitude after messing up recently is wearing thin. He'll be the one to go.
  12. This is absolutely right. Accountability with no action behind it is just meaningless talk. There was chatter on Schopp and the bulldog this afternoon that Chris Brown suggested some sort of purge may be coming. I can't help but think of Stevie, especially considering his post game comments. Talk about no accountability - is that what the Bills get for $6 mil a year? Not if I was GM.
  13. Huge mistake and a show of hubris for Marrone to jettison D'Alesandris and bring Pat White out of retirement. How is D'Alesandris doing in San Diego?
  14. Ah, so it's planned failure. How do the Mario, Lawson, Kiko, Carpenter, and Branch additions fit into this plan? Did Russ also slip those by the other signatories, i.e., Erie County and NYS? Or are they in on the plan too?
  15. Steveie is quick but not fast. This is exactly why they moved him to the slot.
  16. I don't understand the "Marrone as crony" charge. Many of Brandon's critics dismiss him as just a marketing guy, but if this is the case, how is hiring a crony who loses good marketing? I agree about Stevie, he doesn't have the fortitude you need to build your team around and at his salary, will most likely be cut.
  17. Stating that games aren't sellouts is stating a fact, it's not blaming. Likewise, stating that the Bills lost is a fact, it's not blaming.
  18. Thank you - concisely stated and based on experience. One thing I would add is, these revenue pressures will only intensify if/when the new owner demands a new stadium, assuming he has a stake in the financing. If we think Wilson is money-driven, we ain't seen nothing yet. Edit: Kirby, the last line of your edited post above echoes my concern. We simply can't count on a home town rescue by a Pegula type, this I why regionalization is so important to the future of football in WNY.
  19. Interesting opinion. I hope the next owner shares it, but more likely his focus will be more on overall revenue than simple demand. In that equation, club seat holders are far more coveted than regular seat holders (remember, in addition to the premium price, PSL revenue is not shared) and for that matter, a season ticket holder in a stronger economic region is a better revenue generator than is a Buffalo season ticket holder. All this is why Brandon talks about the Bills business mode as a "volume business" - he can't charge high prices so he needs lots of butts in the seats to offset that.
  20. Apparently not in Buffalo. Since the 90s the stadium capacity actually shrunk by 6-8,000 seats and Brandon still needs to manufacture sellouts. I sense a lot of fan defensiveness in these discussions, and I wish people would get over that. Brandon hasn't ever bashed Bills fans, he's simply answering the questions he's asked with facts. The cold hard facts may be tough to take, but you can bet that those facts (especially revenue numbers) are going to matter plenty to the next owner (in fact, much more to the new debt-laden owner) than they matter to Brandon or Mr. Wilson. I hope many fans who don't buy tickets realize this before it's too late. And I say this as a remote club seat holder.
  21. I definitely see this happening soon.
