  1. Just to clarify, this from buffalobills.com: "Being on Reserve/NFI means anywhere between the end of Week 6 (Oct. 14th) and the end of Week 11 (Nov. 18th) that Alonso, if cleared to do so, could begin practicing with the team. His first day of practice would kick start a 21-day evaluation period where the team could determine whether he would be fit to return to the active roster or being placed on season-ending Reserve/NFL." Seems that the Bills brain trust believe in the "Legend of Kiko" too.
  2. Any other impressions? Surprised to not see more here.
  3. Correct. Provided to give insight into TG's thinking, straight from the horse's mouth.
  4. Golisano not "possessed about owning the Bills" Quote: ""The important thing is someone buys (the team) and keeps it in Western New York," he said. "Do I feel it has to be me? No, I'm not possessed about owning the Buffalo Bills, just as I wasn't possessed about owning the Buffalo Sabres. They were in danger of leaving, too. In fact they were a lot closer to leaving than the Bills are. I got involved then because I wanted to keep that entity in Western New York, and I want to keep the Buffalo Bills in Western New York."
  5. If memory serves, at the time we were all having fun in the sale price prediction thread, none of us had an indication of just how restrictive the trust's instructions were as far as keeping the team local. At that time we were talking about the Pabst guy, the Pritzkers and others. That was an entirely different bidding environment from what we now know it to be. Again I say, thank you Mr. Wilson for severely limiting the trust's working room, at significant cost to your estate. You deserve a statue the day after the sale is complete.
  6. Yes, Ponder started over EJ but of course Ponder was already the established QB when EJ joined the squad.
  7. I think the Minnesota Vikings' new stadium web pages are enlightening/instructive in some of these areas. I must be some kind of "stadium nerd" because I found their presentation of the different price/amenity levels fascinating.
  8. Here, 4 tix including 2 clubs for 5 years, and I got 15,000 points. That's maybe a few t-shirts but far away from most of the swag shown. I may be wrong but I thought I read that the points expire in December, so how would it be possible to accrue enough points to select anything nice, unless you're Russ Salvatore.
  9. Kirby, I agree with you that ticket price restructuring is the main "real" argument in favor of a new stadium. But why do you think that restructuring is not an option in RWS?
  10. My amusement at reading about this is trumped by my astonishment at the poor coordination that is behind this effort. I wonder why I, a hardcore follower of the team, am just reading about this for the first time today after the letters are delivered? There should EASILY be 10X the number of mailbags sitting there. I suppose it's a moot point and kudos to those who got off their couch and did SOMETHING but is it that hard to publicize and organize a movement that literally has the sympathy and emotional support of a million plus people?
  11. Thanks everyone for the responses! Was thinking of KB only because I used to live across the street from it, but Holiday Valley looks pretty sweet. I've only golfed there and forgot how nice it is. Plan to stay in Springville so it's pretty easy to get to either spot.
  12. It's possible that Jim had "something" years ago, but maybe it wasn't a structured group in the sense that we now think of it. He may have gone out and knocked on a few doors to sniff out interest in a future Bills purchase, and determined that there were enough potential suitors willing to step up at the right time. Maybe that was the source of his confidence. We take it for granted NOW that there are groups willing to step up, but years ago none of us knew if that interest was there. Or maybe the group he expected to work with got scared off by Pegula's subsequent investments in Buffalo, attainment of near-hero status and his recent sale of oil and gas properties, and never materialized knowing the team was in good hands. Kelly may be pursuing his own personal interests recently and that can look unseemly, but I don't think Kelly would knowingly do anything to undermine the future of the Bills in Buffalo in the process of pursuing his self-interest. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that.
  13. Branch played for the Seahawks. Did he play for the Cardinals too?
  14. I'm considering going to the Packers game in mid December, and combining that some skiing/snowboarding with Billnut Jr. Does anybody know for sure if Kissing Bridge makes snow? I don't want to book a trip and come to find out that there's no snow to ski on. Tried calling them and left a message but they're not calling me back. Thanks!
  15. So I would think that with Kelly's slap-down, JBJ looks even worse now. If Kelly was the ace in the hole and he couldn't be convinced to sign on, you would think that that's game, set match for JBJ.
  16. I was scanning this thread to find any mention of Hostler or Todd Downing. I finally get it 4 pages in (thanks eball). This year we have a lot of additional, experienced brainpower working on the offense, and I have no doubt that the new coaches provide input to Hackett - specifically as eball points out, we'll be doing a better job of targeting the weaknesses of our opponents than we did last year. It's simplistic to target just Hackett or Marrone when there are new voices behind the scenes. I'm willing to wait and see on this, and I do think the drives we are putting together (at least between the 20's) are reason for optimism.
  17. Interesting point. One would think that JK's current battle would represent enough of a purpose to his life, but apparently not. Maybe he feels his football career isn't truly over until he "wins one" for Buffalo.
  18. Fluff, who is @HJKforever ?
  19. I recall being at a previous tailgate where Hammer wanted people to have a TBD sign on their car as they pulled in. Is that still needed?
  20. When the RCW patches were first announced, I thought it was also stated that all attendees at the opener would be receiving one. Anyone else recall seeing this?
  21. One of these days someone's gonna make "IN" their signature, and just flat-out rule the world.
  22. ^^ This is the correct take. To try to analyze JBJ's motives separately from those of his partners simply ignores the fact that most of the money put up by that partnership belongs to the "move" faction.
