  1. I'm wondering if Overdorf was the one who was outed as having bad mouthed Polian, and Pegula is now taking steps to jettison him. I seem to recall early on that JO was going to be involved in the interview process, now he's not.
  2. No doubt there's a connection there. It's not even well veiled.
  3. We actually don't know what role if any the Watkins pick played in Marrone leaving. It's all speculation. Was it money, power, insecurity, treatment by the fans and press, control of videos posted to the website? If anything I think it was most likely power going forward, not Marrone looking backward at the Watkins pick and sulking about that. But I get your point. Angst over the loss of the first round pick should not obscure the fact that we have a ROY candidate in the fold and a solid #1 receiver on the roster for many years to come. I think his body of work, absolute refusal to even discuss his injuries and consistency given this offense's limitations was outstanding.
  4. Thanks Yolo! Apropos to this thread.
  5. Someone here recently posted a great excerpt from a book written by Trent Dilfer where he recounted his college days during which he had a very positive coach, and contrasted that with his declining play in the pros where all he heard from his coaches were negative statements drilled into him such as "Don't turn it over"! That negativity produces tightness and negative mind sets that prevent athletes from doing their best. Coaching is critical to player development and this change could be exactly what EJ needs.
  6. Nice to see a voice of reason among so many....others. It should be a requirement that those advocating giving up on EJ must also state a credible plan for the QB position in 2015 and beyond. The guy was 2-2 this year, no?
  7. Wow. If that interview happens the Bills better keep it quiet or they'd probably lose half of their season ticket holders just on the basis of their considering Hackett.
  8. Kubiak: great technician but not a leader. Best suited to the OC role. I'm on board with Quinn as well. He WILL be a HC next year. I hope we land him and not the Jets.
  9. I was responding to a different Shanahan thread that later got merged. I don't expect it to make sense now and it's not worth my time trying to explain.
  10. I was confused by Mike Williams, concerned at Urbik, but became convinced when Orton was selected to start the final game. That's when I knew for sure that Marrone was putting his agenda ahead of the franchise's.
  11. Interesting plan. What I'm not clear on is why Kubiak would step away from coaching Flacco in the playoffs, to take a lateral position coaching EJ, Tuel and ? in Buffalo. What's in it for Kubiak?
  12. I hope he's full of regret. And cries. Hell hath no fury like a Bills fan scorned.
  13. Good draft pick by Buddy and a great idea to extend him.
  14. Do you get your way on every work issue?
  15. It IS being discussed in the Marrone v. Hackett thread. Your question is answered there.
  16. I guess, if you can't land Kelly, it doesn't hurt to speak to the guy that implemented his offense - if for no other reason than to educate yourself on possible offensive approaches with your personnel, or just to hear him evaluate your offensive talent.
  17. Good point. But it will be interesting to see whether Marrone's "opt out clause" mitigates the Bills' tampering argument. What good is an "opt out clause" if the coach can't pursue opportunities? Unless the clause included specific procedural requirements that required another team to contact the Bills before talking to Marrone.
  18. Thanks for the clarification Doug (or his agent).
  19. The Bills declined the Skins' request to interview him for DC so they clearly want him to stay in at least the DC capacity. If I'm the Bills FO, with Schwartz already in the fold I hold out for a Quinn or Bevell, whichever agrees to keep Schwartz as a full charge DC. If either of them decline, I have a fallback in Schwartz as HC, maybe with Pepper as DC and a Trestman as OC. Not sure how Schwartz could decline either scenario.
  20. ____________________ So you're saying he's a pretty good hockey writer? If you can't spell the name of the greatest Bills player ever, you should expect some sarcasm. Welcome aboard.
  21. This and the beatification question are +1. I'd also ask "give us your best examples of how you have developed players" with bonus points awarded for mentions of legitimate QB successes.
  22. NYT's journalistic ethics are severely wanting. They have strayed far from their beginnings. That is beyond dispute.
  23. I am up for the Lucas Oil thing. And I agree that it fits the 1st Ward vibe. I'm ambivalent about making it open or not for games, but I do believe Pegula will build a roofed facility that can be used for multiple purposes. What has me most pumped is that the timing of the build should coincide nicely with my planned retirement. Can't wait to be able to move back and attend all the home games.
  24. Following the logic of this thread (that this is THEIR plane), a stop in Boston could signal a meeting with McDaniels. But God I hope not.
  25. Remind me, what did Russ lie about?
