Because they're usually more versatile and can play Guard and I like that more then moving Gs to Center.

And I'm sorry.  But we can't discount Morse's injury history *knocks on wood*

I spent all last August terrified of this team without him.  Yes its probably a reach to do that in round 2, but I definitely have it on my priority list.  Again, thinking he'll play Center and compete for a Guard position.

I definitely get concern over Morse, although I genuinely can't remember if he missed any games last year? I think he way exceeded the panicked expectations over his health from preseason.

I also agree that it's simply smart to think about future expiring contracts. But they have a lot of contingency for a Morse injury. I would be more worried about tackle depth than interior right now.

3 guys can play center, 4 can play G but only 4 on the roster play T and only Dawkins was a reliable/proven option there last year for me.

Yes... and a lot hit the wall before then...

Jerry Hughes is younger and I think he went backwards in 2019- hopefully it was injury related but guys can start slowing down around this age..

Anyway... I’m hoping for the best..

Addison could regress as all players can. Worst case scenario it's not a huge guarantee or something they can't escape from. This concern is also mitigated by McBs familiarity and the players consistent high level production and lack of injury. For McB this isn't the high risk that fans are seeing.

It seems like Chicago is making a big push to improve their team,

They overpaid for a washed TE when they already have recent high picks and too much cap space invested in the position.

They paid a DE top dollar when they are tight to the cap despite having Khalil Mack.

Meanwhile they have 1 WR, Oline issues, CB issues, and critically a regressing QB.

Lol how can Allen not be the favorite of this division after the playoffs and team assembled? I know Manish is Jet media but dang, you can’t sell any fan base on having the best quarterback in the division being from the lowly jets

I don't think it's based on the past in any way. Its a projection by a biased fanbase. Same as the Dolphins guy who thinks his defense will mimic 'Bellichick because they have Flores, Van Noy, Lawson and Ogbah. I'm not angry because they are hopeful. It just happens to be a baseless projection.

In a Mc Beane defense the lineman are not the stars- the LBs are the stars and therefore we will not likely have any dominant players along the line but have great LBs.

Not sure I agree though he clearly loves his LBs  His Superbowl defense featured Addison and Short as sack monsters and was among the sack leaders as a team. An effective pass rush is surely a preference. It makes everything easier.

You're assuming Flores wants an accomplished pass rusher and that's why you think the way you do. He wants guys that get pressure and can defend against the run, he could care less about sacks. Remember that he's a Belichick disciple and his main goal is to disrupt the QB and cause confusion for the OL. The Pats annually have a top 5 defense without a player eclipsing ten sacks for example. I'm impressed by their ability to do what's asked.

You asked were they supposed to impress you and I answered your question. But ok.

I get what you're projecting but 'Bellichick disciples' have been famously ineffective at achieving his success outside of NE.

Its cool that you're excited, but they are players who you're buying high on with patchy production. You're welcome to see them as best case and I'm welcome to see them as overpays. Time will tell.

Flores values versatility. Van Noy doesn't just serve as a pass-rusher, Ogbah is more of a run-stuffer than a pass rusher, Byron can play CB/S, and I'm sure you all know what Lawson can do. I'll take a guess and say that the moves the made were to improve their team instead of impressing you.; I may be wrong though.

Without question this group of personnel will improve the Dolphins because they were garbage last year.

What my post is addressing is the notion that signing these guys makes the defense great. None of these guys are accomplished pass rushers. They are at the absolute best, solid situational players when used properly (and yeah Flores can do that why not?), but also all of them have had multiple seasons of being totally ineffective. I'm not going to crown them as a force until I see it. So if you're impressed by their names and Flores ability to get the best out of people good for you. I'm just gonna wait and see.

Pointing out that the moves weren't made to impress me Is dumb. But ok.

  8. Look this won't happen. Carolina will want at least a 2nd. His contract is great 19 per, but he's been an Injury liability for the best part of two years. He may want it but the Panthers won't give him away. This is just people wanting to whirl the QB carousel.

Just in 2018 Cam singlehandedly won a game in Baltimore by a 15 point margin. But people want to see him moved for a 4th because they dislike him.

I heard s rumor yesterday that this was New England’s plan B if Brady left. Not sure if it’s actually true though.

That would be a dumb move for Bridgewater and the Panthers. Cam only costs 19 this year, TB likely way more. Plus that team will be BAD next year. He will get killed behind that line. All the good will he built in NO will dissolve as he's massacred weekly.

Consider this my priority list...as of this point super early in FA....and I know there are variables re depth still at each position.  But here is essentially how I rank the priority and how I'd draft

    My top 3:

    1. WR (need cheap option when Brown contract up)

    2. CB (if we sign Harris I put OT here)

    3. Center (can get great ones in the 50s)

DE because now the pass rush rotation is OLD.

Your list is a bit strange to me.

WR- would be #4 and rarely get on the field.

CB-ok makes sense and I would love to reunite the Diggs brothers or take a fast CB like AJ Terrell.

C- I don't get this either. Morse has two years on his contract and Bills currently have both Long and Feliciano who can cover there. You want your pick to redshirt his first two years?

  11. Van Noy Ogbah and Lawson. What a peculiar set of pass rushers. Am I supposed to be impressed?

They also spent 10 per on a terrible  tackle who had a good half season at G for a team selecting second overall and set the market at CB for a guy who rarely makes interceptions.

Its splashy but I'm not convinced.
