  1. Also in the “you can’t be serious” category: Sabres pushing trips at $4000+ to go to Germany to see a couple games that includes a preseason game???
  2. Losing all 3 series to O's, Braves and Dodgers....a bit of an ouch. The near record of quality starts have been carrying them imo. Stay around .600 for the duration and all is well.
  3. What did Spartacus say when the lion ate his wife? He was gladiator.
  4. Well, variety is the spice of life…..but, this football.
  5. Wonder what his gripe is with Kentucky Fried Chicken?
  6. What the heck I’ll give it a go….is there money involved? Dalton-77 Knox-41 For the trifecta: Samuel-51 🤞
  7. HALLELUJAH!!! GO OILERS!!! …..I’m finally over my McDavid bitterness. I wonder if Tim Murray is?
  8. It was not a myth or exaggeration that he assaulted African Americans on more than one occasion. He had charges filed against him and fled town to avoid arrest on one occasion. In that case a civil lawsuit was filed. Cobb agreed to settle out of court in order to receive a lesser charge. There was a road rage incident involving an African American in which he was arrested for. There was another incident in 1924 where he violently assaulted a ticket taker. Call it what you will…..
  9. It was great how they made the game a backdrop, or secondary, and the stories, interviews and honors were at the forefront throughout the broadcast. I agree that baseball is in a better place now. The influx of global talent is great, and needed. Ohtani has reinvigorated fans all around the world. He just hit a home run as I typed this ! The rule changes made were all home runs imo, though a few might need a tweak or two.
  10. Old schoolin’ it!!! Nice. I still buy Lindy’s preview too. Wife is always taking it out of the bathroom and I keep leaving it there.
  11. I always wanted to go to Lake Winnipesaukee to sail. 🫠
  12. Amen to that !!! Never understood WNY’ers who complain about summer heat, then whine winter is too long.
  13. Check out this website, it’s full of bio’s, stories of MLB and NL players. https://sabr.org/ You don't need to be a member, just enter a name or topic in the search the research collection space on the home page.
  14. I watched the He was on the game tonight honoring the ***** leagues. What an uplifting individual. There were a lot of moving moments throughout the broadcast, it was a great tribute. This game should be an annual event. But, needless to say, it can never be enough. On a side note, it didn’t dawn on me who Josh Gibson topped as the all time batting average leader until they said it during the broadcast. In a sad case of irony, Gibson passed the immortalized Ty Cobb, whose past is abhorrent, to say the least, regarding racist behavior.
  15. Gotta have the song: …..it was one of those songs I liked, but, as a sophomore or Jr. in high school, I wouldn’t dare admit to it.
  16. p.s.…..I’m a Yankees fan, but, a beat down is a beat down. Didn’t care for the plunking last night.
  17. But, would you take a penny for those thoughts? (it’s a cheap joke)
  18. It’s not a stretch to say Mays would have hit 700 home runs were it not for that time lost. Same could also be said of Ted Williams, he missed almost 5 seasons due to the service. While I still watch the game, for me the HR hitters of today don’t have the allure, and lore, of the greats of the past. …..except Ohtani.
  19. Just to put his greatness in perspective, Mays came in the same year as Mantle, 1951. He matched Mantle’s stats when Mantle retired in ‘68. Then hit another 100 home runs.
  20. Now that’s a thread that has been done.
  21. Few can make a case as the greatest. Willie Mays can.
