  1. It was great how they made the game a backdrop, or secondary, and the stories, interviews and honors were at the forefront throughout the broadcast. I agree that baseball is in a better place now. The influx of global talent is great, and needed. Ohtani has reinvigorated fans all around the world. He just hit a home run as I typed this ! The rule changes made were all home runs imo, though a few might need a tweak or two.
  2. Old schoolin’ it!!! Nice. I still buy Lindy’s preview too. Wife is always taking it out of the bathroom and I keep leaving it there.
  3. I always wanted to go to Lake Winnipesaukee to sail. 🫠
  4. Amen to that !!! Never understood WNY’ers who complain about summer heat, then whine winter is too long.
  5. Check out this website, it’s full of bio’s, stories of MLB and NL players. https://sabr.org/ You don't need to be a member, just enter a name or topic in the search the research collection space on the home page.
  6. I watched the He was on the game tonight honoring the ***** leagues. What an uplifting individual. There were a lot of moving moments throughout the broadcast, it was a great tribute. This game should be an annual event. But, needless to say, it can never be enough. On a side note, it didn’t dawn on me who Josh Gibson topped as the all time batting average leader until they said it during the broadcast. In a sad case of irony, Gibson passed the immortalized Ty Cobb, whose past is abhorrent, to say the least, regarding racist behavior.
  7. Gotta have the song: …..it was one of those songs I liked, but, as a sophomore or Jr. in high school, I wouldn’t dare admit to it.
  8. p.s.…..I’m a Yankees fan, but, a beat down is a beat down. Didn’t care for the plunking last night.
  9. But, would you take a penny for those thoughts? (it’s a cheap joke)
  10. It’s not a stretch to say Mays would have hit 700 home runs were it not for that time lost. Same could also be said of Ted Williams, he missed almost 5 seasons due to the service. While I still watch the game, for me the HR hitters of today don’t have the allure, and lore, of the greats of the past. …..except Ohtani.
  11. Just to put his greatness in perspective, Mays came in the same year as Mantle, 1951. He matched Mantle’s stats when Mantle retired in ‘68. Then hit another 100 home runs.
  12. Now that’s a thread that has been done.
  13. Few can make a case as the greatest. Willie Mays can.
  14. The bigger question should be would the Bills have won a Super Bowl with Mahomes? …..or has this been done before?
  15. "A McDonald’s employee handbook on the McDonald’s website did not address weapons inside restaurants."
  16. Rizzo’s been a disappointment and probably gone next year. It shouldn’t be a problem replacing his production. This Rice kid hasn’t been exactly tearing it up, but, he’s been the hyped prospect. We’ll see….
  17. It landed here last year. It is a force unlike any on this planet. It is going to take over the NBA. Behold “THE ALIEN” !!!
  18. Funniest response I have ever read in here. TY
  19. By 1973 I had been to numerous Bills, Sabres and Braves games with my father. It dropped off after that, my parents separated, my father moved out, forever, he had a girlfriend. My life changed. My mother had to go to work. My father eventually had no time for me anymore. I didn’t talk to him for years. Time has healed the wounds. He’s still alive and quite well at 87. We talk. The sports memories now don’t seem so long ago and are much fonder.
  20. “Jingle All The Way”…..a trifecta of Dads at Xmas with Arnold, Phil Hartman and Sinbad, as a very funny Postman.
  21. I never liked him. That *&#%’n scarecrow, karate kid or whatever it is…
  22. Throw in Bautista too. There’s no talk about Kremer. Hopefully Irvin, Suarez and Kimbrel can stay the course.
