I forgot, when the Bills lose I'm not suppose to enjoy any aspect of the Bills' play at all. Let me guess, you got upset at people who said Josh played well during 13 seconds, too. 🙄 You know, there's a phrase you might not be acquainted with. Something about clouds and silver linings. Topic of post: Isn't it great that Allen didn't go into sugar rush mode like he did in week one? I never said I wanted him neuteted. Since you're dancing around it... Do you think Josh should have played in sugar rush mode like in week one? If yes, you're delusional. If no, then you should be happy he wasn't in sugar rush mode. Whether he should have had more fire and less restraint is abolutely irrelevant. My post is specifically about the sugar rush mode he was in during week one, and did not go into Saturday. I commented on nothing else.

None of which has anything to do with the OP. Was pointing out that in a situation where he frequently drops into sugar-rush mode and starts trying to force bad throws in, he did not this time. He kept his composure. That is all this thread was about. Just that aspect. I did not say a single word about his performance otherwise. There are already several threads debating his overall performance. Sadly, posters who want to complain about Josh's overall performance ignored that, hijacked this thread and made it just like all the others. This thread went off-topic a long while back.

Josh had three interceptions trying to force the ball into coverage, and a fumble late in the game. Yes, he single-handedly cost them the game by trying to do too much when he didn't have to.

Hero ball is Josh thinking he has to do it all himself. It leads to him running when he doesn't have to and forcing passes in that should never been thrown in the first place. Again, Week One. I can't make this any clearer. This should not be so difficult a concept. That aside, the people who ripped Allen for single-handedly blowing Week One due to hero ball are the same ones complaining that he should have played the way he did Week One? Ridiculous. This thread just proves that the Allen haters will find some reason to criticize him no matter what, even if the current reason makes hypocrites out of them.

First, five games is too soon to judge. Remember how Josh looked after five games? Second, Kincaid can't just invent his own routes. He's stuck with what Dorsey calls. You can't complain that a T-Bird hasn't been impressive if you only drive it 35 MPH through residential areas. That car is meant for the open highway. The problem is Dorsey.

To be clear, when I made this post I wasn't commenting on Josh's performance. There are enough other theads for that. This thread was specifically about Josh not playing hero ball in a situation he most likely would have before. And for the one asking what hero ball is, I'll just point to Week One.

Everyone yelled about sugar-rush Josh costing them Week One single-handedly. Now people are actually complaining that he didn't play like that on Sunday? Really?

Kinda lost in the mix...but when things went to crap and time was running out, some people worried about Josh going full hero ball. I'm sure he was tempted, but I'll admit I was a bit surprised to see he didn't. Maybe he actually took that Week One disaster to heart. Too early to tell, but Sun. was at least encouraging in that regard.

Coming into yesterday, the Bills' defense surrendered an average of 12.25 points a game, and no more then 20 in any game. (Reminder, the Jets' final TD was given up by special teams). I fail to see anything of concern for them in those first four games.

Six defensive starters out. Here's a fact I shouldn't have to explain...backup players are not as good as starters. So, when you have backups playing the D isn't going to play as well. Shocking, I know. If I hand you the box of straws will you stop grasping at them?

I think losing Milano after Tre was backbreaking for our D, which hurts. Allen did not play hero-ball yesterday, even when I'm sure he was sorely tempted. Let's not overlook that. Honestly, my only concerns is Davis is a WR3, not a WR2. They need to add one. The biggest concern, honestly, is Dorsey. He's just not looking up to task. When his plan works, it works, but he is strugging at making adjustments. He is also trying to force players into his scheme instead of molding his scheme for his players. I think Dorsey is holding a potentially elite offense down, and injuries may well do in our defense. Which is a shame because I believe we're close.

You can't handwave injuries away, and the time of possession was skewed bad b/c a perfectly healthy offense couldn't move the ball. A patchwork D missing two of their best players generated two turnovers in the red zone and kept the Bills in that game. The Bills D were an elite unit all season. Tre goes down late last week, Milano early this week and all of a sudden the team has a harder time getting the other team off the field? It's...*gasp*...almost like losing five defensive player actually makes a defense worse ! Anyone that argues otherwise...don't bother debating them. They'd have to be incredibly dim not to see it, or they're willfully ignorant, locked into confirmation bias. Either way, you're not going to change their mind.

Davis makes big plays, and also makes critical drops. Been his M.O. for years now. Both happened today. Gabe makes for a great WR3, but you need more reliability out of a WR2. Gabe does not suck, and did not suck today. However, he still had a painful drop on an easy pass that killed a critical drive. That's a fact, not an opinion, and I'm tired of people trying to give him a pass on his drops just b/c of the good he does otherwise.

Agreed. Still doesn't change the fact the Jags had more then a full week to acclimate. It's just an unfair advantage, with an easy fix. Do not let a team play two international games in a row. Never said that was the only reason they lost, but you cannot deny it was most definitely a factor.

First, Buffalo needs to stop with the international games. Second, the NFL needs to never again let a team play internationally two weeks in a row. It was clear this favored the Jags, as the Bills did manage to eventually shake off the jetlag, just far too late into the game. Third, it's clear the NFL wanted a close game, all but carrying the Jags early, then sliding the calls a little more the Bills' way once they were coming back. Fourth, for all his big plays, Davis yet again had a terrible drop at a critical point in the game. Fifth, not one word about the defense. They were jet-lagged, they were decimated by injuries and they were on the field far, far too long. Yet they still made big play after big play to keep the Bills in the game.

...and there's the Davis drop we expected.

This is just disgusting to watch.

Anyone else notice the NFL's Network isn't showing any replays on the penalties they call? Almost like they don't want us to see what they're calling.

And NFL network doesn't show the drop on replay. Their coverage is terrible.
