IMO his first few throws he looked like he was ahead of the receivers. Even though he didn’t complete them, I’m seeing mental progress. He still needs better timing / chemistry with the new receivers. I’m kind of frustrated that we aren’t seeing the stretch the field throws, but we still get the throwing across his body crap. I’m putting that more on the coaching staff. Last year, his attempts to go deep opened up everything because it kept the defense on its heels. Looks like he has to make more contested throws out there because teams are less worried about him going over the top.

Bills Training Camp Day 10 (8/5)

Even “average” practices from a production perspective for Allen are impressive against this defense. We could have the #1 D this year and it sounds like Allen has done decently well against them. -
Could very well be the case, someone else mentioned something similar. My memory was either from his last season as a Bill or first as a Raven.

It will be interesting to see this play out. Allen chugged a beer in that HR derby thing or whatever a month or two back. There’s a different vibe to each clip though. Allen’s is more relaxed and fun loving. Mayfield’s is intense in an almost uncomfortable way. I could definitely see those differences play out on the field, but I don’t know which is necessarily better. Allen may be cooler under pressure. Mayfield’s intensity could lead to either clutch play late or someone prone to mental mistakes. I would think leadership wise players would take to Allen more, but Mayfield might be able to light a fire under players better. At this point, I see them as head and shoulders above the rest of their class.

I remember he came back one offseason boasting that he had stopped lifting weights or bench press or something. He wasn’t a very good NFL player within the next few seasons.

Bills Training Camp: Day 4 - 7/28

I respect your assessment, but some of the posts in this thread give off the vibe that by Day 4 of camp it is already crisis mode for Foster. So he lined up wrong on a play, big deal. The roster has changed, but I don’t think there has been any major shift in the way the coaches feel about Foster. I think we’re witnessing the outcome of adding 2 WR moreso than we are seeing any kind of punishment to Foster. -

Call me crazy, but I think the Bills are dead set on trying to fast track the chemistry between Allen and new receivers John Brown / Cole Beasley. I’m not going to read into Foster’s reps too much. IMO Brown and Foster should be starting on the outside when the season starts. Cole and Zay can fight for slot reps. -
Does anyone else feel kind of bad for the writers that are still saying they don’t think Allen will succeed? To have a year of film on the guy, watch him carry the offense with little help, and come away with the conclusion that he will fail... It boggles my mind. He is one of the most impressive QBs I’ve ever seen, we just need the talent level of the rest of the offense to catch up. Say what you will, but he turned an undrafted rookie receiver into one of the most productive in the NFL. He has actually gotten something out of fledgling Zay Jones.

Duke Williams- can he make the team?

From what I’ve seen, I just don’t know that he has NFL speed... probably still an upgrade from Kelvin Benjamin though. -

We can’t really complain if we were okay with Shady not getting a suspension last year. -

Is having a #1 WR that important or just good to have?
Troll Toll replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On our team Allen can maximize the potential of an elite talent. I think Allen can inflate the production of an elite receiver by 33 to 50 percent due to his ability to laser passes from anywhere on the field to anywhere on the field. Last year we saw many great downfield throws fall incomplete due to subpar receivers. I don’t know that the players we’ve added will improve this area. Our receivers haven’t shown the ability to track down imperfect passes thus far in their careers. In essence, I think having elite receivers would do more for our team than other teams due to Allen’s skillset. Likewise, our average receivers severely limit Allen’s ability to reach his potential. -

Put Brady on the Bills for his career and he doesn’t avoid the drought. He likely would have been out of the NFL by 2005. -

Brady wouldn’t crack my top 25 either. Rode the coattails of the Bellicheck system where cheating was arguably the biggest component of their success. There are hundreds of QBs in NFL history who could have done what Brady did on that team, with Matt Cassell and Jimmy Garoppolo being two of them. -
I would not call Brady one of the greatest athletes. By any physical measurement he is a piss poor athlete. That would be like calling a golfer, a racecar driver, or a tubby bowler a great athlete.

Five Teams Entering Their Super Bowl Window

I would put Buffalo in there. Barring an Allen injury, I predict we make the Divisional round of the playoffs at minimum. -
He really is prolific if he is blowing 61 Men Per Hour.
