Whaley was the GM during the draft. you don't make the decision to trade down after the draft has already happened. McD made the decision to trade down and get a QB and Pegs supported it. Whaley liked Watson and Trubisky. He wanted to trade up for Trubisky. I think Pegs took one look at Watkins and went with McD. Whaley had to go because he was not on the same page as McD.

I Guarantee that would get you #1 but no one is going to give that.

Beane wasn't the GM. From what I read Whaley wanted a QB. He really liked Trubisky but McD vetoed it.

They have scouts all over this board to gather information. 1-Because they know there are top scouts that go to high level business meetings. 2-They are really concerned about what we think they should do. They don't want to get in trouble with the posters on TSW.

If they did they would have traded for 3. I think they are evaluating still because the price is really high. They want to be certain.

From that view point it would be worse to give up all those picks and be wrong so lets just not be wrong what ever we do. If they believe they found a transforming talent go get him. But don't make it so you can't get the other pieces. A lot of free agent money next year tho. It did include TT they used him to get 65

That may be why he didn't start for Pettine. He isn't viewed as being tall enough. I think to have a higher value to them he would need to be a starter.

You have to pay attention to the whole market. Who do you want in a trade, Darby or Peters and Talib. Peters 2019 2nd and 2018 4th Talib 2018 5th round This draft is loaded with DBs They got great value for Darby because DC and scheme familiarity.

He only started 1 game under Pettine and was used as an edge rusher. I don't know that anyone uses a true and strictly 3-4 system anymore and not all 3-4s are like Rex overly exotic concoction. Hughes is very underrated on this board by many. Thank you for understanding that sacks are just a stat. Interceptions don't happen on a sack play.
