  1. I agree Singletary is an avg RB, a nice RB#2 change of pace guy. To me the Bills need to find some longer term fixes on the OL. A strong OL makes your QB and RB look better. Josh Allen has masked a lot of deficiencies on the OL, and has taken some hits for it. None of our RBs has been able to look better than average behind it. Either McDermott or Beane said they want JA taking fewer hits. I have no reason to doubt that. It should not surprise anyone if the Bills go OL a couple of times in this draft. If C#1 or OG #1 are there at 25 they may have a hard time passing on him. I love RBs. Still my favorite position, but I'm not sure Hall or Walker III (the clear two best RBs in this draft) are 1st round guys. Regardless, if Either is selected I will be pulling hard for the to unseat Singletary and provide another dimension to the offense.
  2. Count me in on the OL train too. I think it is way past time to put some long term fixes there. McBeane was talking about protecting their franchise and having him take less hits. OL and RB are investments that do that. I was big on Linderbaum, but his smaller size concerns me. It is C or bust with him because of it, and he needs to be in the right scheme. Zion Johnson would be cool. Getting the #1 or #2 OG at 25 and plugging in a potential 10yr starter/ Pro Bowler at 25 seems like a good decision to me in a draft like this. How do you feel about OG Kenyon Green, or OT Trevor Penning? I see them available a lot in Mocks and Sims. RB in the first wouldn't surprise me though. Hall or Walker III should be productive RB #1 in the league for a while.
  3. I was going to say the opposite. 0 QBs will be selected before pick 25, making Buffalo (and other late first round picks) an intriguing trade partner. Only 1 QB will be selected in round 1 0 RB will be drafted in round 1
  4. I'll say RT or OG could be a day one starter. Protecting the franchise and opening holes for Singletary and whoever at RB would have impact IMO.
  5. I tried to put together a UDFA team from 2010-2015 for ***** and giggles. Outside of QB, OT and C were the hardest spots to fill by a mile.
  6. I think the Bills stand pat on signing anyone else. they have @$ 6 million or so? See what the draft yields, sign the rookies and keep a couple of million for an emergency FA. If no emergency arises roll over the couple of million to help keep a player.
  7. Yeah it went way different than I wanted, but in retrospect what luck. I see Hall/ Walker III in the second a lot. McBride being there was a glitch or a gift. Would have gone for a CB/S/OG otherwise. Josh Johnson WR - not really on my radar. I've avoided most of the small slot guys because Buffalo has Crowder and McKenzie (and Stevenson). Not sure what he would add to the mix. I was leaning toward outside WRs. I picked Phillips on a bit of a whim looking at experienced returners because that mock fell really weird so I looked ST late.
  8. other than JA who does have run/ pass/ catch TDs The Buffalo LTs. LaDanian Tomlinson on offense. He threw a handful of TDs on RB options, and was an underrated blocker Lawrence Taylor on defense. The younger guys don't realize what a terror he was on defense. Excellent pas rusher, slobber knocker of a hitter and could cover if not attacking the QB.
  9. Bump - weird merge by the mods, kind of sidetracked the whole contest for what positions will be drafted to win a cap. For those looking to join the contest pick the first 6 positions the Bills pick, and add the suit color the 1st round pick is wearing as tie breaker
  10. No trades, no early reaches, let draft fall to BUF. Took SIM best BPA rounds 1-3. No S or IOL! Draft fell strange in Mid Rounds. 25 - OT - Trevor Penning (Northern Iowa) - BPA (K Green/ Z Johnson and D Hill were next best BPA - any of these picks would be aok with me) 57 - RB - Breece Hall (Iowa State) - BPA - Don't want him in the 1st, love him at 57. Walker III was also available. 89 - TE - Trey McBride (Colorado St) - BPA - some 2nd tier CB and S were available, but McBride was rated 40 slots higher then the next best player 130 - CB - Jalyn Armour Davis (Alabama) - Best DB available, drop off after he and Alabama teammate Jobe was bad (20 or more slots) 168 - WR - Tyquan Thornton (Baylor) - speed size mix Buffalo does not have. Best outside WR prospect left. 185 - P - Matt Araiza - with OL/ DB and WR raided I looked to ST. Fan favorite, flip those fields 203 - WR - Kyle Phillips (UCLA) - slot WR with 4 yrs Punt return duty at UCLA 231 - FB/RB - Zander Horvath (Purdue 6'3" 230) - jack of all trades - Mike Alstott comparisons Trevor Penning - potential to be the best OT in the draft. Biggest concern is FCS competition. I am not 100% on Brown long term. BUF is light at LT after Dawk. Penning can play LT or RT. May need some time to adjust to NFL game speed/ strength. Having Brown hold down RT if needed is a luxury. If Penning is ready then having Brown be a backup RT is a luxury. Was a starting LT in college. John Runyan and Riley Reiff comparisons. Breece Hall - could choose between Hall or Walker III. I like Walker III a bit more, but hard to pass on Hall's 3 down ability (hands). McBride - if the consensus TE #1 or #2 TE is there at 89 it is hard to pass on him. Mackey award winner. Excellent hands, size and ability to block. I am not a fan of OJ Howard. Knox may get expensive next year. Immediate ability to play 11 personnel this year with Knox and McBride. Knox/McBride/Howard is nasty TE depth. Comparison - Austin Hooper. Jalyn Armour-Davis - 6'1" 197 4.39 40. Best DB (CB and S) available at this point. CB and S had a lot of runs in this sim. (Taylor-Britt/ Bryant/ McCollum were all gone). Fall off after JAD was bad. Lots of ability here for McDermott and Frazier to mold. NFL comparison - Dre Kirkpatrick. Picks after 160 were pretty sparse. Lots of RB and TE available. OL/ DB/ WR raided. Looked for traits and ST. Tyrquan Thornton offers a unique size and speed combo. Best option to find outside WR depth at this point of the draft, most guys were small slot guys. Has been used as a KR in college. Traits pick. Matt Araiza - best ST player available in draft. Good bye Haack. The Josh Allen of punters! Kyle Phillips - small slot WR. A plus is he returned punts all 4 years at UCLA Zander Horvath - I just love this kids videos. Total McDermott type guy. Can run/ catch/ sneaky game speed. Could contribute on ST right away, compete with Gilliam.
  11. I have to agree with you. This is a deep draft but not filled with expected game changers. Some will end up doing that of course, but it is harder to identify in this draft. I expect to see the unexpected. It will really depend on who falls to Buffalo. In some sims and mocks it has lined up really well for Buffalo, others have been a total mess! There is a lot of potential 10 yr starter value at 25 on IOL and S, and those are both places Buffalo needs to address now or next year. I am all for building out the OL in this draft. This seems like a deep draft for OL and DB. I am not a fan of any of the RBs as 1st rounders, but I would not be surprised to see IOL, RB or S drafted in the first round. I agree K Green, Z Johnson and D Hill are all in play at 25. There are some solid CBs and S who could fall to rounds 3-5, and this coaching staff has turned late picks/ UDFA into solid NFL starters.
  12. Needs DB (CB and S)/ IOL/ RB/ WR/ LB No trades, let the draft fall and see who became available 25 - OT- Trevor Penning - Northern Iowa (RAS 9.96) - surprised to see him there. BPA on OL. LT starter but can play RT, so he can be a swing OT this year and push Brown as starting RT. Size and demeanor comparison is Jon Runyan, play style Riley Reiff. If he plays like either of those guys a 5th yr option will be a big plus 57 - RB - Ken Walker III - Michigan St (RAS 9.25) - No brainer here, give JA a Heisman winner in the backfield 89 - TE - Trey McBride - Col State (RAS 8.18) - had 0 plans on drafting TE, much less one this high, but he is the #1 or #2 TE prospect on almost every board and is expected to be drafted in the 40-55 range. Anyone want to add a 2 way Mackey Award Winner to this offense? 130 - CB - Josh Jobe - Alabama (RAS N/A) - excellent Jr season, played with turf toe most of 2021. Better suited to zone or cover 2. 5'11 208, may be a S at NFL 168 - S - Tycen Anderson - Toledo (RAS 9.48) - 6'2" 209, 4.36 40, 4.28 shuttle. Has played as S and big Nickel, the type of clay McDermott and Frazier can mold into a stud NFL DB. 185 - OG - Logan Bruss - Wisconsin (RAS 8.75) - 6'5" 309 - Can play RG or RT, Buffalo loves versatility 203 - OG - Cade Mays - Tennessee (RAS 7.53) - 6'5" 311 - Has started at all T and G positions in college 231 - WR - Tre Turner - Virginia Tech (RAS 3.51) - 6'1 195 4.51 40. Had pretty bad QB play at VT. Averaged 17 YPC in college, bad QB play at VT. Can replace Isaiah Hodgins on the PS 🤣 DB and WR didn't get a great lift the way this draft fell, but it got a much needed youth injection at OL. Lot's of talent, athleticism and versatility for Kromer to work with. I could see 2-3 future OL starters from this mock. Adding Walker III and McBride is just adding to an embarrassment of riches on a loaded offense. Maybe McDermott and Frazier can turn Jobe or Anderson to starting calibre DBs, they have a knack for it. Turner brought into an NFL camp to try to shake a bad combine and show what he has.
  13. I've been a very vocal Edmunds detractor. In some ways it is not fair and in others I feel it is justified. Edmunds had no say in where he was drafted, and expectations are high for #16 overall. One would expect a game changer at LB at that draft position. My biggest knocks on Edmunds are his inability to make game changing plays, and that he has been statistically regressing since his very good 2019 season. Stats from Pro Football Reference: Tackling and support: Tackling - has improved his missed tackle % each year - slow to diagnose and react to run game, often takes bad angles. - 35% of his tackles are assists. He is often not the first person to a ball carrier, and is often the last guy in for a gang tackle with a shoulder tap. Even then he fails to try to strip the ball. His hits are soft and awareness is lacking. One can look at Forced Fumbles and Fumble recoveries. 2018 - 121 Tot Tak / 80 Solo/ 41 Ast/ 5 TFL/ 2 FF/ 0 FR/ 16.6% Missed Tak 2019 - 115 Tot Tak/ 66 Solo/ 49 Ast/ 10 TFL/ 0 FF/ 0 FR/ 9.4% Missed Tak 2020 - 119 Tot Tak/ 77 Solo/ 42 Ast/ 4 TFL/ 0 FF/ 0 FR/ 9.2% Missed Tak 2021 - 108 Tot Tak/ 70 Solo/ 28 Ast/ 7 TFL/ 0 FF/ 0 FR/ 8.5% Missed Tak Forced Fumbles and Fumble Recoveries In 4 years he has 2 Forced Fumbles (2018 - rookie year) and none since. He is not jarring anyone and is rarely in position to strip the ball. Edmunds has never registered a Fumble recovery in 4 years. That is pretty hard to do playing in the middle of the defense. Some people say he is excellent in pass coverage. The eye test and the stats just don't back that up. Pass coverage 2018 - 78.5% comp against/ 93.3 QB Rating against/ 2 INT/ 12 PD/ 8.7 YPC 2019 - 65.4% comp against/ 76.3 QB Rating against/ 1 INT/ 9 PD / 7.8 YPC 2020 - 67.2% comp against/ 114.3 QB Rating against/ 0 INT/ 3 PD / 12.6 YPC 2021 - 78.0% comp against/ 106.1 QB Rating against/ 1 INT/ 4 PD / 10.8 YPC I don't understand how that is 'good pass coverage'. A lot of times he looks like a dancing bear in the middle of the field and is slow to diagnose who is entering his zone. Last year he was slow getting off the snap. In multiple games he didn't move when the ball was snapped. I recall two games where big plays were given up and he just stood still for a second or so after the ball was snapped and players ran by him where he was the only person in the zone. Milano 2018-2021 for comparison 2018 - 56.5% Comp against/ 69.6 QB rating against/ 3 INT/ 7 PD / 10.9 YPC 2019 - 67.3% Comp against/ 94.5 QB rating against/ 0 INT/ 9 PD / 6.1 YPC 2020 - 62.9% Comp against/ 70.9 QB rating against/ 1 INT/ 3 PD / 7.2 YPC 2021 - 55.2% Comp against/ 71.9 QB rating against/ 0 INT/ 5 PD/ 7.9 YPC Pass rush is terrible. 5.5 sacks in 4 years. Pro Football Reference has him on 227 blitzes for a 2.4% blitz win rate. 11 total hurries and 9 QB take downs in 4 years. I will grant that some of the 2020 regression was due to an injury, but 2021 was not up to his 2019 season either. I do wonder how much playing a base Nickel affects the LBs, but Milano, a much lower pick has done well and equaled or exceeded Edmunds in many ways. Despite his athletic ability, a base Nickel may not be the path to getting the most out of Edmunds. Perhaps he would be a beast in a 4-3 or 3-4 and this could be trade value for a team running those schemes more often. I understand Buffalo wanting a 5th year look, but if he doesn't at least play like 2019, I would move on before giving him a big 2nd contract. TENN missed badly on Rashaan Evans in the same draft (pick 22), but they have largely moved on. I just don't see a guy you pay a big second contract to in Edmunds. Based on his 2020 and 2021 play I think he is more a liability than an impact player.
  14. I'm still burnt up about passing on Creed Humphrey there. Nothing personal against Boggie. I think Basham will round out to be a good DE. In limited play time he flashed a lot.
  15. I think this was posted just before the Jamison Crowder signing. I loved Beasley and wanted McKenzie back. Signing Jamison Crowder made me feel a lot more at ease with the slot position now. Has your opinion changed?
  16. I also like C for the reasons stated. If Linderbaum was the 1st or 2nd round pick it is likely Morse would be cut/traded next off season to clear up cap space and help keep a number of younger players coming due for extensions.
  17. What if one of the top 2-3 S is available? We have the Poyer contract issue going on, and both Poyer and Hyde are over 30. There is a good chance S may be BPA.
  18. Gilliam had some important plays last year. Could see Horvath fill the role/s Gilliam and Moss are supposed to have. Short yardage guy, physical line ups, goal line guy. He is intriguing for the 6th/7th/UDFA. I was surprised at his game speed. The leaps were much fun, and his hands were pretty nice too. Happy you brought him to my attention.
  19. I generally agree with you, deep draft, not amazing at the top. I think there are 3-4 NFL starter safeties in the draft, very top heavy S draft. As much as we all love Poyer and Hyde a transition will happen in the next 1-3 years. 25 is a great spot to pick up a potentially elite S. The 5th yr option on a S could be useful as the transition from Poyer and Hyde becomes reality.
  20. Depends on the position and how the draft falls. Assuming no QB/P/K CB - should compete to start, especially if White misses time OG - compete to start with Bates and Saffold as a Rookie OT - complete to start with Brown as a Rookie RB - could be RB#1 as a rookie (still a bad idea in Rd1) DT - could win starting DT job if 1 Technique, depth/backup for 3T DT S - Depth - this might be the best S draft in years, grab one. Starter in 2023 based on contracts and age with Poyer and Hyde OC - Depth - learn from Morse, starter in 2023 as a cap saving move with Morse LB - depends on if Edmunds was traded, if not 2023 starter for cap savings with Edmunds WR - Depth - complete with Davis or Crowder/Mckenie as slot depending on body/type of WR DE - Depth - unless Buffalo lands some stud and Von Miller fills the Lorax role with Rouseau and Rookie as 2 DEs
  21. I don't see any Round 1 RB this draft. Harris and Etienne seemed more solid NFL locks last year. As for the top RBs I prefer Walker III to Hall. I have a feeling CB/S/OL will be Buffalo's first pick this year depending on how the draft falls. Hall has production and is a solid back. I think it takes him a while to get up to speed, and a bunch of his yards are after contact. Walker III just seems more explosive and elusive to me. If Hall was the Bills 2nd round pick, I'd be happy to have him here, but I think Walker III will be the better NFL RB.
  22. This was a fun highlight reel to watch. He has nice hands and some speed too. Didn't realize he is a FB. Not sure what role he would have here, but that was a lot of fun to watch. He will get drafted or be a priority UDFA. Thanks for the recommendation!
  23. Akayleb Evans is an interesting mid round CB to keep an eye one. I need to look at Zander Horvarth, great name and you seem to like him
  24. Needs as I see them - DB (both S and CB)/ OL/ WR/ LB/ RB 25 - S - Daxton Hill (Michigan 6-0", 191, RAS 9.05) 4.3 40, 43.6 vert, 4.13 shuttle 57 - RB - Ken Walker III (Michigan St, 5;9", 211, RAS 9.25) 89 - CB - Coby Bryant (Cincinnati, 6-1", 193, RAS 5.56) 131 - OG - Cade Mays (Tenn, 6-4", 311, RAS 7.53) 168 - WR - Tyquan Thornton (Baylor, 6-2", 181, RS 8.54) 4.28 40, 33" arms 169 - CB - Akayleb Evans (Missouri, 6-2", 197, RAS 9.55) 32.5" arms 185 - OT - Kellen Diesch (AZ State, 6-7", 301, RAS 9.75) - started at LT for AZ State 231 - OC - Dawson Deaton (Texas Tech, 6-5", 306, RAS 9.7) - Practice squad C Made one trade to move back one pick and flip 203 for 169 I was ok with getting Kolar or Mays and figured 169 has a better chance of making the team than 203. TN gets Pick 130 (Charlie Kolar TE), 203 (Vincent Gray CB) BUF gets Pick 131 (Mays G), 169 (Akayleb Evans CB) The draft fell really well for the most part. Hill fell (was a run on WR and CB) will be a starter by 2023. (passed on CB McCreary) Walker III was there and was a no brainer should become RB #1 Two probable starters with first 2 picks. Needed a CB given White's timetable and I'm not sold on any CB on the roster other than White and T Johnson Bryant was a good 3rd round value and was one of the 5 BPA according to the sim I was using I wanted to refocus on offense (OL and WR). Mays was the best OL at that moment, may regret passing on Kolar, I like both for this point in the draft. Thornton is 6'2" with sub 4.3 speed, a type the Bills WR room doesn't have. Evans fell and I took him based on his size and athleticism. (Figured between Bryant and Evans we should find one CB starter) Last two picks were brought in for competition and development on OL. Good sized guys with high RAS scores from good programs.
