  1. I agree 100%. Some folks were saying he was sick during those workouts. That could be a part of the issue. A lot of fans confuse 40 time with play speed. Rarely is some guy getting a clean release and running in a straight line in a game. Guys like Breece Hall have a fast 40, but don't seem to play up to that speed. (still plenty fast and a bit shifty). James Conner looks like he is running in cement, but he produces. Wydermeyer plays faster than his 40 time. Some guys are just good football players without great measurables/ RAS scores, or less than ideal size. This kid plays football better than workout numbers would show. I think he has a legitimate shot to make the team and work onto the 53. Sweeney has his work cut out this offseason. Competition like that should help make this squad better.
  2. I understand that. I am a Beasley fan. Beasley was a bit of a security blanket for JA for a year or two. When all else failed on the offense they would work Bease in or run a gadget play with Lil Dirty to get a spark. I think Crowder is a fine addition, but we need to see that chemistry form in the offseason. Having McKenzie and now Shakir as other options makes me feel good that there are solid options. Surprised he is not with Green Bay. It seems a logical fit on a lot of levels.
  3. I feel like Aaron Schobel is not a big fan favorite because he was quiet and reserved. Never a rah-rah type of guy or very vocal, but boy did he do his talking on the field. I'm hoping that is the vibe I am picking up. If not look at Aaron Williams. Dude was not all that thrilled to be here early, was kind of a prick actually. He grew to love Buffalo, the team and the fan base. He wrote one of the all time farewell letters to a fan base, team and city. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/articles/aaron-williams-bills-retirement Hoping this is more of an Aaron Schobel/ Aaron Williams story than a Gilmore/ Watkins one. For now I'll sit on the sideline of judgement and see what he says on the field.
  4. What about Kyler Gordon or Booth? Both went in the 2nd. (7th and 10th) Have to admit McDermott's draft was pretty great. Lock down CB, starting LT and a play making LB in the 5th... PS Great read
  5. One thing I notice with Bernard and Spector, at least from the youtube highlights, is that both guys are instinctive and work well through the mess and get to the play. I see a lot of LB attacking the line and play rather than backing off and floating around in the zone. I wonder if Buffalo will play more man-press coverage with Elam and White after Elam has a few starts and White is 100%? Does that free up LBs to attack? Klein did well in that role. Maybe Buffalo does plan on mixing in some 4-3 looks. Von Miller can play the LORAX type role that they used the first couple of seasons. Bernard can cover or attack, and Spector looks a bit of an AJ Klein type. Better moving forward and attacking than dropping back and defending the pass. (though he has an outstanding INT in one of the videos below) Spector led Clemson in tackles in 2020. Wears #10 in the highlights below. Welcome the Bills Baylon. Good luck!
  6. Yep, KC and Buffalo were a bit punch drunk after that game. KC blew their load to get past Buffalo.
  7. Yeah, I saw he had a 5.00+ 40, but he seems to play much faster. I hope he shows enough speed to get open in training camp and preseason Wydermer has much nicer hands IMO. But he does have blocking TE size at 6'4 255. Highlights from 2019-2020 season. Most catches were nice hands catches. Grabs that ball right out of the air. @1:20 is that Ozzie Ozbourne or Michael Jackson? 🤣
  8. I like the Wydermyer pick up a lot. Can see him making the 53
  9. Good for Mario signing. He has a chance to play a lot of snaps in Houston and gain incentives if his contract has them. Addison put together a heck of a career for an undrafted rookie out of Troy. 4 consecutive seasons of 9+ sacks. Led or tied for lead in sacks the two years he was here. Generates a lot of pressures, just can't finish as well these days. Good guy to have on your team. As for Basham the guy has 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 4 Tackles for a loss on 201 defensive snaps. Seems like pretty good production to me given how limited his play time was.
  10. Oh I agree. I just don't know if Dodson or Matakevich is cut for Spector. I could see one cut for Bernard.
  11. I like a bunch of guys the Bills drafted and can understand why they took the guys they did. I can't help but think that there was better BPA/ value at the picks. From the picks/ moves/ presser CB was an open sore spot on the team and they were dead set on drafting a CB in the first, and they had a short list of who they would take. Beane said that 'he (or the Bills) will sleep better at night'. Says all that needs to be said. After that the draft fell weird. I like some of the guys picked after, but I could see this being a 1 starter and 1 role player type of draft. Once again IOL was ignored despite good options being there in the 3rd (Parham) and even 6th round (Mays/ Salyer). Whoever is scouting IOL needs to do better or have some bigger balls at decision time. Buffalo can't keep ignoring those positions. We still have smurfs at RB. All of that said I hope Elam is the CB he should be. Cook could be an Austin Ekeler type player. Bernard's size and profile is very Milano/ Matakevich like and his instincts are off the charts good, Shakir could be a Davis type steal where they selected him, Araiza should be a lot of fun to watch and talk about, and Benford was selected higher than Dane Jackson or Levi Wallace and those guys have played a lot of meaningful snaps for this staff in Buffalo. Tenuta and Spector are probably long shots, maybe PS guys.
  12. I thought Ki-Jana Carter was going to be a stud....
  13. I was completely blown away when I saw the notebook in the interview video. Talk about detail oriented! That is also a lot of useful scout info for a number of WR who just got drafted or will likely be drafted in the next year or so. McDermott and Frazier will probably love having that intel. He even went on to say this is how he got beat, why and what he would do differently. Talk about detail oriented and able to be coached. No wonder Bills brass wanted this young man. I think he is in the perfect situation to be the best CB he can be in the league.
  14. Happy they got a OL at some point, but there were 3 or 4 other OL who slipped to the 6th I liked more. Cade Mays, J Salyer, Lecitus Smith, Shaffer etc.... Alec Lindstrom went undrafted and I would have liked that pick more... OL not a strength of OBD.
  15. I am a fan on the internet spitballing some numbers like any other fan. 4200 yards or so and 40+ TDs is hardly a slight. Some things to consider: I am acknowledging that the OC is gone and a guy who has never been an OC before will be calling plays. I am acknowledging that there are a number of influential offensive coaches in the room (Kromer and Shula) with him. There may be too many cooks in the kitchen for a young OC. One is clearly a run first guy. I am acknowledging that the coaching staff has all but said they want to see more balance. The OL is not improved at all. Will the OL hold up? I have concerns. I am acknowledging that this is Davis' first year as a starter. 65/ 800/ 6 is a great line for a lot of WR. This isn't Madden or Fantasy Football I am acknowledging that Beasley was a security blanket for Allen and he is gone. A lot of fans diminish what Beasley did for this team for stupid political reasons, but he was a security blanket for Allen and was damn good at it. Crowder has the tools to get there, but the rapport is new. I need to see it. OJ Howard is not half the TE many on this board think he is. Receiving RB is much better. Will the OC and other coaches utilize it? All of that said 4200/ 40 passing TDs seems on point. It's not a slight, just making room for the obvious changes on the team in both coaching and personnel.
  16. I'm not a pro scout. Just posted some guys I liked. I'll look up Weatherford and Blankenship. I agree, Buffalo missed badly on some S depth this draft and they need it
  17. Spitballing: 100 x 13 for Diggs = 1300/ 10 65 x 12.5 for Davis = 812/ 6 65 x 10 for Crowder = 650/ 4 55 x 10 for Knox = 500/ 8 That is 3312 without RBs or other WR/TE Add 1000 around the other RBs/ WR/ TE Would anyone be surprised to see 25 x 11 for McKenze = 275/ 2 50 x 8 for RBs = 400/ 4 20 x 9 for Howard = 180/ 2 that is 855, with 145/ 4 for others 4320 passing yards/ 40 TD seems about right as an estimate.
  18. The thread you noted is current 2022 undrafted players. Since we are in draft mode, there will be the expected melt downs on this board. My thread shows guys who were undrafted and went on to be excellent NFL players from the 2010 to 2015 drafts. This thread is a hypothetical exercise looking at a snapshot of UDFA's from 2010-2015 that could be assembled together to make a competitive team. aka could someone put together a team of undrafted players over a 5-6 yr span and make a legitimate team? The answer is yes. A team of 2010-2015 UDFA would probably be a .500 team or better from 2015-2018. QB is the main issue. Most other positions are well filled. (QB/ C/ LT/ DE) were the hardest to fill. Just a fun hypothetical exercise for a 33rd team, like one in London, if they were limited to UDFAs.
  19. Levi Wallace was a UDFA in 2018. This team is UDFA 2010-2015. I liked that range because most of those guys careers are 'in the books' so to speak, but most members would know them. I'll probably go back to do 1990-1995, 1995-2000, 2000-2005, 2005-2010 etc. If I do a 2015-2020 UDFA team he will probably be a lock as CB2 on it.
  20. 100% agree. I just wanted to point out some of the top talent that drops out of the 7 round draft. 1/2 of the DBs in Denver's 'no fly zone' defense were UDFA. I did not know that! They won a Super Bowl. I had to make tough choices at RB/ RT/ LG/ WR and CB. That seems so odd given those are supposed to be higher draft picks (OT/ CB/ WR at least) It also shows with good management the league could expand 1 team, maybe 2. QB is the real issue. My 2010-2015 UDFA team is pretty solid. This is without any benefit of a draft or FA. I should buy a Madden game circa 2018-2020 and build my UDFA team and try to win with it for ***** and giggles. Before this exercise but he and Pat Williams would be cornerstones of an earlier team.
  21. Bernard is probably not displacing Milano or Edmunds this year. Where do you play him and get value? Answer = Special Teams Matakevich: 6'1" 235, 4.81 40, 4.5 20 yd shuttle, NFL.com grade 5.8, 10 TAK, 1 INT, Bernard: 6'1" 224, 4.59 40 (P), 4.25 20 yd shuttle, NFL.com grade 5.94 Cutting Matakevich after June 1st is a $2.5 Million savings against the cap they can roll over to next year. Matakevich is 29, Bernard is 22.
  22. So it was one of those bored late night thoughts. Could I build a competitive team with only UDFA for a 5-6 year span? How much value do UDFA actually provide? 2010-2015 seemed like a good place to start since those guys played in the modern era, and had the best stats. I am old enough to remember the days of the NFL draft going 14 or 15 rounds. I found out a team made up of 2010-2015 draft UDFA could be competitive and fight for a playoff position for the 2015-2018 seasons. There were multiple Pro-Bowlers, AP and PFW AP selectons, NFL Rookie selections and PFF selections. A bunch of guys who started for Super Bowl winning teams. QB was a mess as expected. C/ LT/ DE was also tough, but we got lucky in those positions in these years. WR/ CB/ LG/ RT ended up having very good talent. Better than expected. It showed me UDFA is still important and real Pro Bowlers/ All Pros/ SB starters can be found in UDFA in the modern era
  23. Some top UDFA to keep track of OT Kellen Diesch - Az State OG Josh Sills - OK State William Dunkle - SD State S Juanyeah Thomas - GA Tech Verone McKinley III - Oregon Smoke Monday - Auburn Yusuf Corker - Kentucky Jack Koerner - Iowa DE Christopher Allen - Alabama Tyree Johnson - Texas A&M LB Aaron Hansford - Texas A&M JoJo Domann - Nebraska Zakoby McClain - Auburn Mike Rose - Iowa State CB Joshua Jobe - Alabama Vincent Gray - Michigan WR Makai Polk - Mississippi State Kevin Austin Jr. - Notre Dame Josh Johnson - Tulsa RB ZaQuandre White - South Carolina Jaylon Warren - Ok State TE Chase Allen - Iowa State
